Chapter 113

Sunday evening Melody came home exhausted again. Even though her day was relaxing, she was tired. They spent the whole afternoon at the theater and watched a great movie.

Afterwards they went to a family restaurant, where it was just as busy as at the theater.

Finally they got their table but their orders took a long time which only made Melody even more tired. The restaurant had an outdoor play set so of course Faith had to go out and play. Getting her back inside for dinner and dessert was a challenger. Melody wondered how Jon did it with two little kids.

After dinner she brought the children to Robert’s house, she was surprised when Robert said he needed to talk to her later in the week and she wondered what it possibly could be. The whole drive home she wondered but as soon as she walked through the door she pushed it aside.

Now she enjoyed a relaxing shower, standing under the water a little longer than usual. She used a fluffy soft towel to dry off and wrapped it around her head to dry her hair as she walked back to her bedroom.

Picking out a t-shirt and panties to sleep in and put them on. She discarded the towel and got under the sheets. She definitely ate too much at the restaurant, her stomach hurt and not even the hot water from the shower had eased the pain. It must have been something she ate. With all the junk food during the movie and the dinner at the restaurant, it was just too much. She knew she could take something for the pain but she hated taking pills, thinking they couldn’t be healthy so she hardly ever took them. Until that cold a few weeks ago that Jon was so convinced of it being flu. That had been one of the only times she took painkillers, even though it took the pain away, it was only a stomach ache, she’d be fine.

For once she turned on the small tv in her room, another thing she hardly used until she got sick last time, she preferred the big tv in the living room.

She felt like cuddling now so turned on the tv and nestled comfortable between her pillows and duvet. It felt nice and warm, so perfect that only one person could make it even better.

Melody leaned back against the pillows and wrapped the duvet around her. She noticed Jon’s pillow still smelled like him. It was a little thing, but it made her look over at the picture frame that held a picture of her with a bright smile, sparkling eyes, happiness was so obvious on her face as Jon pressed his lips to her check. The only thing she missed in the photo were Jon’s sparkling ocean blue eyes. They were closed as he kissed her.

That day had been so great and easy, just the two of them shopping, together.

A stomach cramp got her out of her dream. She clutched the duvet a little tighter, pressing down on her stomach to make it go away.

It only lasted a few seconds and she relaxed back into her comfy bed again, back to watching tv.

A couple of minutes later, her phone rang. She muted the tv and reached for her phone and answered it by the press of a button.

“I was just thinking of you.” She said, not expecting anyone else to phone her.
“So was I.” He answered. “How are you? Did you have a nice day out?”
“Yeah, we saw a movie and went to a restaurant but I ate too much.” She answered.
“Too much? That’s impossible.” He chuckled, he knew he had an appetite.
“Yeah well, I did, my stomach hurts.” She countered back.
“Oh, take some Tums then.” Jon suggested.
“No, no I’ll be fine.”
“You know taking pills don’t make you any less strong.” He thought she was just being thought like last time.
“No, really it’s fine.” She reassured him. “How was your day?”

Jon was travelling today so he hadn’t done much. Jon told her about the short flight and how their tourphotographer kept taking pictures of him every second. Melody pointed out that that was his idea. He laughed, he liked it but some moments he just didn’t want to remember forever.

Melody had seen the backstage pictures, they were amazing and personal. She told him so and he agreed that that was why they did it, to show more of the band.

After that they went quiet.

“Mel?” He asked, sounding serious after neither of them had said anything in a few minutes.
She snuggled deeper in the softness of her bed, lying down on her back. “Yeah?”

Their tones had changed the mood of the conversation; it was much more serious, a little uneasy.

“How late are you?” He was sure she would have told him if she got her period, they were both wondering.
“Almost three weeks.” Melody answered a little somber.
“It doesn’t really mean anything until three months, right?” He asked her for confirmation.
“Three months makes it pretty sure.” She knew that anything before three months was uncertain and that there were more chances to miscarriage.
“So we don’t really know?”
“Not really.” She agreed.
“But what if you are?” He asked carefully.
“I don’t know, then I’ll have another child.”
“We’ll.” He corrected her.
“We?” She asked, she knew their conditions weren’t perfect, she didn’t want to ask him the question, but she had.
“Yeah, I love you; it could only make me love you even more.” He explained firmly.
“Are you sure? I know we haven’t been together that long and we both have busy jobs and our children. I’d understand.” She said as somber as before.
“Understand what?” H got confused with her explanation but realized what she meant. “Mel, I love that you always try to understand but I’m not gonna leave you. I love you and I meant what I said last week, I don’t want to imagine a day without you.” He told her again, making sure she heard every word very clearly as he said it.

She knew better than that, he wouldn’t do something like that, he was too good, too sweet to do that.
“Okay, but we’re still not sure.” She said, repeating what they had said earlier.
“No, we’re not.” He agreed with her.
“I love you Jon.”
“I love you too.”
“I wish you were right here in bed with me.” She had been looking at his empty spot in her bed the entire time.
“Oh you’re in bed.” He chuckled, that gave him an idea.
“No, Jon, I’m in pain.” Her stomach still hadn’t settled.
“Just take something, you’ll feel better.” Jon urged again.
“No, I’m fine without. You didn’t want morphine when you pulled a muscle.” She pointed out.
“True, but Tums don’t make your brain go numb. I just don’t want you to be in pain.” He said with a sweet and comforting voice.
“It’ll be better in the morning.” She knew it would be.
“Okay, go to sleep then. Let me know tomorrow when you’re home and we can video chat.”
“I will let you know.”
“Stay at my place if you want to. Good night, love you.” He repeated.
“Love you too, sleep tight.” She said to end their conversation.

They ended their call and Melody placed it her phone back on her night stand. She turned the light and tv off and snuggled in her warm comfy sheets, clutching Jon’s pillowed against her.

How she wished he was with her now.

Chapter 112

Saturday morning Melody took a relaxing bath, something she hadn’t done in quite a few weeks. She didn’t count the hot tub with Jon in Hawaii.

Although, she did let those memories enter her mind while she relaxed.

Hawaii had been a great time but as soon as they got home, life had happened and the relaxing feeling of their vacation was very far gone in only a few hours, now she tried to get some of that feeling back.

After getting a good soak in the tub she got up and went to get dressed. When she passed the night stand, she noticed her cell phone. Instead of phoning, she decided to text Jon, knowing it was before 10am and he wouldn’t be up yet. She sent a quick good morning text and went to get Faith to get ready.

Only a little while later Melody parked her car in one of the few spaces of the parking lot. Like any other Saturday It was busy at the mall but she was determined to have a great mother daughter day with Faith.

Come to think of it she realized she would be gone for two whole months soon. She had told the kids so they knew about it but it was the first time she was leaving them for such a long time. Not even in the summer holidays, Melody and Robert always split those weeks equally.

They were off to a few stores for Faith first. She picked out her own clothes but changed her mind on almost everything after fitting.

In the last store for children they had a baby department at the front. Melody lingered, looking at the cute onesies, she found one that had an electric guitar on it and read “rock star” She looked at it in awe, it was adorable. Baby clothing had changed in the last few years.

She always thought baby clothes were cute but now it was different, now there was a possibility that she was pregnant. A possibility, she wasn’t sure, so she hung it back and went to look for Faith in the girl’s department of the store.

Faith was holding a t-shirt that looked similar to the onesie Melody had been holding. It was black with many bright coloured guitars. Above the pictures it said “rock chick” in the same colours as the guitars were.

“Too bad they don’t have keyboards or anything but I like this. Can I have it mum?” She asked excited.
“If it’s your size.” Melody took the shirt and looked at the label. “You need 8 to 10 year old.” Melody hung it back and looked for the right size.
“Thanks mum, do you think Jon’ll like it?” Faith took the shirt and held it tightly, she surely wasn’t going to return that to the racks.
“You can match Romeo, he has a t-shirt with a guitar too.”

Faith found a lot more clothes in this store, saying it was her new favourite store.

Melody chuckled when she made the comment as they walked to the register.

When they walked out of the store again, they passed the baby section again, she tried not to look but the idea was still in her head.

She tried to tell herself to not think of it but what if it was? They had only known each other for four months, he was a huge rock star, would he stick around? He loved her but that much? At least it would have been made with love. But a pregnancy at her age would probably be harder than her other ones. How would they work? They didn’t even live together and couldn’t because of their other children.

She had to stop this, she didn’t even know for sure if she was pregnant. A part inside her hoped that she was, another little one. Another one to raise, the rest had grown up too fast, maybe this one could stay little.

They went to the food court and bought their lunches. Just as they sat down Melody received a text on her cell phone.

12.35pm: Just got up, how’s shopping? J
Instead of texting back, Melody pressed the call button.

“Hey.” He answered almost immediately.
“You’re up late.” Melody told him.
“It’s only 11.” He answered.
“Oh right, I forgot, sorry.” She remembered they had a little time difference now.
“It’s okay. So did you buy anything I might like on my floor?” He asked.
Melody chuckled. “No, didn’t see any nice rugs.” She tried to say serious after chuckling.
“Oh you’re so hilarious.” Jon told her. “Did you? What about something I might like on you?”
“No, only been shopping for Faith so far.” She explained to him.
“What did she buy then?” He asked just as interested.

Melody loved that he actually cared.

“Do you want to talk to her instead?” She tried to feign annoyance but either Jon knew she wasn’t really annoyed or he wanted to talk to Faith.
“Sure.” He answered.

Melody shrugged and passed the phone to Faith. While Faith talked, Melody started her own lunch.

She heard Faith talk about her new t-shirt and that she was wearing it to school on Monday. Then she got a little confused when Faith said number seven and the letter L.

Maybe he had asked a silly question.

Faith said goodbye and handed the phone back.

“Hey.” She let him know she was back.
“Do you know when you’re home? We leave the hotel at 4 so I don’t know when I can phone you back tonight.” He explained.
“Probably later than that.” Melody wasn’t sure but she wasn’t done shopping yet.
“Okay.” Jon was quiet for a minute. “We can do that video chat thingy tomorrow then.” He offered.

Melody did the same as Jon and thought it over.

“Can we do it Monday after work?” She wanted to spend Sunday with her kids too, take them to a movie and some dinner.
“Yeah of course. Tomorrow we fly to Canada so Monday evening I have nothing to do, works even better actually. What shift are you working?” He hoped she was going to make use of that key and stay at his house.
“8 to 8.” Melody answered him.
“I hope you stay at my place then.” It were early hours and he liked the idea of her at his apartment.
“I might.” She wasn’t sure yet how it would feel to be there without him.
“Alright, I’ll phone you tomorrow and I’ll see you Monday.” He said.
“Perfect.” Melody said and added, “I love you.”
“Love you too.”

And he hung up the phone.

Video chat on Monday, she liked that, they’d see each other. For now she was back to shopping with Faith.

After their lunch they visited some stores for Melody. She didn’t find anything special, some tops and new jeans. She didn’t want to buy lingerie with Faith with her so instead she treated Faith to a ride on the big carrousel at the food court.

After they had everything they wanted they left the mall and went to a restaurant. She had left money for the boys to buy their own food.

When Melody was finally home and in her bed, she felt tired but happy. She spent the whole day with her little girl and she couldn’t even remember the last time they had done that.

Even though she knew Jon would still be on stage, she shot him a good night text anyway.

Chapter 111

Jon stuck to his promise and as usual he phoned Melody when she was busy. She was just preparing dinner when her phone started ringing.

“Hello.” She said a little absentmindedly.
“Are you home yet?” He asked a little confused.
“Yeah, I just started making dinner. Did you get to New Orleans ok?” She asked in return.

Jon told her how his flight was, while Melody walked over to the kitchen table to sit down. He had only landed a few minutes ago and hadn’t even left the airport but phoned her first because he knew she’d worry as she always did. It was just the motherly instinct in her, he knew that.

Melody in turn told him about her own day while he got in a car that drove him to the hotel.

It felt just as normal as two months ago when they talked on the phone almost all the time. She knew if they would video chat it would almost be the same as talking at home.

In the morning Jon had a listening session for his job with the government, he looked forward to listening to what everyone would have to say and how he could help them in the end. After this session he only had one more to do which was luckily closer to home.

He didn’t have a chance to talk to Melody in the morning as she would be at work already when he would get up. At least he was taking her with him for the bigger time differences, now she was only one hour ahead.

Melody looked forward to Jon’s session too and all the concerts, she knew pictures would show up on Facebook. That way she could see him, even when he didn’t have time to be on his laptop and she absolutely loved him in his stage clothes.

Melody expected his phone call as she got out of the car; it was always the moment he’d phone but now nothing. She found it a little weird but went inside, kicked off her shoes and joined the kids in the living room.

An hour later she started to wonder, he only had to work in the morning. The session would be over by 2, 3 at the latest, so where was he? She tried not to worry, she knew she shouldn’t. He was a grown man, he didn’t exactly have to call her every day but she liked it and looked forward to it every evening. Of course she could phone him herself but she never knew when he was busy or not so left it to him.

She got up from the couch and went to the kitchen, remembering that he phoned her while she cooked too, just like last night, maybe he’d phone now.

But as she was setting the table there was still no phone call, she tried to shake it off, he was just very busy.

The rest of the evening Melody spent time with her kids. She helped Faith with her homework. She enjoyed it; it was nice to spend time with just them.

After homework they watched tv, Faith cuddled up on the couch with her while the boys picked out a comedy show double to watch. She hadn’t held her little girl in her arms for weeks. Lately she was busy being held by Jon.

When it was time for bed, Melody went upstairs with Faith and read her a story before giving her a kiss and hug goodnight.

Downstairs in the living room the boys had changed the channel and Melody joined them again.

Even though she was glad to spend some time with her children so they were able to talk about things, she began to wonder once again where Jon was. She hadn’t thought of him again after dinner while she was enjoying herself but now he wandered back in her mind.

Finally when she went to bed she looked for Jon in her contacts and phoned him. After a few rings he picked up.
“Hey.” His answer was short and distant, as if he was busy with something else.
“Hey, are you alright?” Melody asked confused and worried.
“Oh fuck, I forgot to phone you.” He realized.
“Yeah, I was getting a little worried.”
“I’m sorry honey, I didn’t get to finish until 2, then when I got back to the hotel the guys had arrived and they wanted to go to the festival and after that we went out for dinner. I’m not even back at the hotel yet.” He quickly explained his day to her.
“You’re still at a restaurant?”
“We didn’t get here until 9. I’m so sorry I forgot to phone, I didn’t mean to.” He apologized
“It’s alright; I’ll let you have your dinner.” Melody suggested, it was 11pm already and with his appetite he’d be starving.
“No, no,” Jon insisted, “I have time to talk; we’re waiting for dessert anyway. How was your day?”

Melody told him about her day with her children, how nice it was to spend time with just them even though she was worried where he was, he apologized again for not phoning. Melody asked Jon about his day and he started telling her about the festival. It was a three day music festival and there was a fair. He had loved seeing the performances in the afternoon and evening. Melody understood how he forgot to phone, he loved music, he had a great afternoon and she couldn’t blame him for forgetting.

Finally Jon’s dessert arrived so he had to get back to his table. They said good night and Jon promised to phone tomorrow before the show and told Melody to phone him if he forgot again.

Melody decided she had to find something to do. She had her job during the week but she couldn’t wonder constantly where he was, she had to do her own thing.

She decided she’d spent the next day with the kids again, knowing the boys would be working, she could take Faith out shopping, have a mommy daughter day. They hadn’t done that in a long time and she liked the idea of.

She shouldn’t rely on Jon phoning her every day, they were both grown people, they had to live their own lives even though they wanted to do it together. Next week she’d spent at his apartment so she would be closer to him in a way.

Chapter 110

Wednesday morning came sooner than either Melody or Jon expected.

“We can still have lunch together.” Jon suggested while they got into the car.
“Really?” She asked hopeful, she thought she had to say goodbye now.
“Yeah, I don’t leave until 3, I can even come by the hotel.” He said.
“I’d like that.” Melody said.
“Alright, see you at lunch.”

He gave her a kiss before they got out of his car. Melody would drive home with Lore, saving a little bit of their planet.

Melody walked with Jon to the elevator of the underground parking garage of his building. At the first floor Melody got out and Jon went up to his apartment. He had to start packing, tomorrow he’d have a listening session and the next day the tour would start again. At least he had a few more hours before saying goodbye; he could still make a nice lunch for both of them.

Melody went straight to work, taking her mind off of Jon’s leaving. They had a nice few days at her house.

Jon finally went to see his chiropractor the day before and it had definitely showed when they went to bed and again when they woke up this morning. She was glad he finally felt better and it showed.

Four hours later she left the hotel and went to Jon’s. She found him in the kitchen, to her surprise, he was cooking.
“Oh my god, what have you done with my Jon?” She asked as a joke.
He turned around to face her. “Ha ha very funny. I’m making you spaghetti.” He said with a smile.
“It smells delicious.” Melody walked over to him for a kiss.
“Ready in a minute.” He got the pot of spaghetti of the stove and held it tightly with the lid to let the water run out through the small space between the pot and the lid. “I set the dining room table, go and I’ll bring you your food.”

Melody did what he said and went to the dining room. She was surprised with what she saw, the curtains were partly closed, making it less bright and the table was set beautifully with a few roses and two tall red candles.

She sat down and a minute later Jon walked in with two plates of spaghetti. He placed one in front of Melody and the other on his side before he sat down.

“I hope you like it.” He said as he took the bottle of cooled wine that stood ready. He opened it and poured a glass for Melody.
“Jon.” She was a bit shocked, he knew she didn’t drink any alcohol
“Nah-ah, look,” he pointed at the label, “no alcohol and it’s good too.”
“Oh.” Melody didn’t think he’d ever buy alcohol free wine, like he’d never buy instant coffee. “You must love me very much.” She said, picking up her glass and taking a sip.
“Of course I do and there you mention something, be right back.” He got up and left the room.

Melody wondered what she had mentioned and where he was going. She decided to wait for him to return before she started to eat.

It only took him a few minutes to return.
“Remember I told you last week that I had a surprise for you?” He started as he sat down again.
“Yes of course, am I getting it now?” Melody asked excited.
“Yes.” He passed her a small rectangular box.
“Oooh.” She said she took it, the box itself looked classy. She quickly opened the lid to see what it was. “Is that?” She asked surprised when she could see it.
“Yes it is.” He answered.
“To?” She looked up to look him in the eye.
“Yes.”
“Oh Jon.” She picked the shiny silver key out of its box and stood up to walk around the table and hugged him before she kissed him. “I don’t have anything for you.” Melody felt a little guilty.
“You didn’t have to get me anything. Now you can come over at any time you want even when I’m not here.” He explained. “Even next week so you don’t have to get up so early.”
“Really?” she went to sit down again. “You’re giving me the gift of sleep?”
“Well with all the phone sex we’ll be having, you’ll need it.” He joked.

Melody put the key in her purse, since she was wearing a skirt. “Thank you Jon. This is all very romantic; you even found wine for me.” She said just as Jon slurped up his spaghetti. Melody laughed. “Yeah, never mind.”
“What? It’s how you eat spaghetti.” He complained.
Melody simply shook her head. “You’re an idiot.” She added when he did it again.
“Ah but I’m your idiot.’
“I’m glad to have you.”

Their food was gone in only a few minutes, Melody thought it was almost as good as his dad’s.
“So how about that bit of romance?” Jon asked, picking up his glass of alcohol free wine and giving his other hand to help Melody up.
She took her glass and followed him. “What about it?” She asked.
“We still got a good half of an hour. Come here.” He stopped midstep and pulled her closer.

He kissed her deeply and urgently. He needed to be inside her one last time and this was his last chance for the next three weeks.

He took their wine glasses and placed them on the nearest surface before claiming her mouth again, pushing her up against the hall wall.

Melody saw his eyes full of passion and want and only kissed him deeper. In no time she felt his hand go up under her skirt, pushing her panties to the side to reach her. “Jon.” She almost screamed when two fingers plunged inside her.

He softly stroked in and out of her, not once letting go of her mouth.

When he couldn’t take the tightness in his pants anymore he let her go to relieve himself of his pants.

He pushed Melody’s skirt up and her panties down. Melody tried to spread her legs a little, when she couldn’t she kicked off her panties so Jon would fit between. He braced his hands against the wall next to her as he pushed inside her. Melody lifted her left leg to wrap around his waist, her hands resting on his shoulders for support. With every stroke he went deeper inside her. His right hand moved to hold her leg so she wouldn’t lose balance and he could reach even deeper. Every push made him closer, to climaxing. He felt relief when he could feel Melody tense around him. They were always there together. A few strokes later they both reached their climax with a scream of each other’s name.

Jon rested his forehead against Melody’s letting his breath return to normal and kissed her. “Now that wasn’t very romantic but that was good.” He empathized the last word.
Melody could barely speak and simply nodded.

He kissed her softly as he pulled out. He bent down to put his pants back on and retrieved Melody’s panties in a few steps. “You alright there love?” He asked while he walked back, she still hadn’t said a thing.
“Yeah,” she nodded, “just…wow…”
Jon chuckled, glad that she was impressed.

Melody straightened her dress while Jon was still holding her panties. He softly stroked his thumbs over the middle part, fascinated, he could feel how wet she had been.

“What are you doing?” He heard Melody ask a little confused.
“Nothing.” He looked up a little embarrassed and extended his hand to give them back.
“Keep them, if you really want. I should have clean ones in your closet.”
Jon tucked them in his pants pocket and watched Melody walk to his room.

It was a few minutes before 3 when Melody started to feel nervous. This was it, now she had to say goodbye. She almost didn’t want him to walk through the doors but there she could see him coming already.

She left Lori to herself and met him at the couches to greet him with a kiss that she didn’t want to let go.

Finally she had to so she could breath. “I’m gonna miss you so much.” She could feel the tears coming. She had promised herself not to cry, after all, their relationship had started out with him on tour, they had done this before.
“I’m gonna miss you too.” He squeezed her in a tight hug.

Letting a little go, he tipped her head up with a finger. “I love you.” He said.
Melody stared back into his eyes. “I love you.” She repeated him.
“I’ll phone you tonight.”
Her emotions were getting too much for her. She swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded, no crying she told herself again. “I’ll be waiting.” She answered him.

He knew she was having a hard time but she tried to be strong, so he wasn’t going to say something instead he gave her another big hug.

One last kiss and Jon had to go.

After she watched him walk away and get into a car, Melody turned around and hurried to the bathroom to finally let her tears go.

It wasn’t that she was scared to cry in front of him, she had done that before, but she didn’t want to make it harder than it already was.

Chapter 109

“Remember what you started this afternoon?” Melody asked when they were finally behind the closed door of her bedroom. A smile appeared on Jon’s face. Of course he remembered how he had kissed her in front of the hotel.

He turned around to face her, looking deep into her beautiful green eyes. He raised a hand to her check, softly stroking from her jaw to her chin. Gently he pulled her chin toward him and kissed her lips.

Melody kissed him back until Jon pulled back and spoke. “Of course I remember.” His other hand rose too, moving together with the other one to the sides of her face until his hands were deep in her brown hair, pushing it to the back of her head. He angled her head, like he had done earlier today; he reached in closer and kissed her lips again.

Stronger this time, pushing her lips open so he could enter his tongue. Melody’s tongue was just as fast as his, rubbing over his; she pushed back to Jon’s mouth. She moaned as she kissed him, losing her strength and Jon pushed back making Melody moan even more.

Her hands moved from his chest to his back, to his sides, down to his ass where she placed a hand on each cheek and squeezed the right one while she slapped the left one.

Jon pulled back in surprise. “Hey!.”
“What? You like it.” Melody pointed out and rested her hands in the same place again.
He gave her a quick kiss. “I do.”

He couldn’t deny it. The feeling on his ass had gone straight to his dick, making it jump inside of his jeans.
“What are you complaining then?” Melody raised her hand again, unbeknownst to Jon.
“Nothing, I gu-"
Melody’s hand came down again.
Jon growled. “You are evil.”
“Who me?” Melody played innocent.

Jon walked her back to the bed until her knees bended at the side of the bed and Melody fell back on the bed.

He held her wrists at the side of her body. “Yes you.” He growled adding a kiss to it.

He let her go and Melody moved up the bed, to the pillows. Jon followed her and hovered above her as he stood on hands and knees. He bent his arms and kissed her softly again.

“You’re evil but your lips are so sweet.” Jon said as he moved to lie down on his side next to her. He softly stroked a finger down her side to the bottom of her shirt, and then yanked it up.

Melody rose up a little so he could take it off for her. Both his hands cupped the cups of her bra, softly kneading until he needed to heel her soft skin against him and pushed the bra up over her breasts.

Melody wiggled uncomfortable so Jon let her go. A little confuse, he let her sit up but understood when she reached behind her back and took the bra off. He in turn took his own shirt off before he moved to hover above her again. Starting a kiss at her lips,  he moved down to her neck, placing soft kisses until he reached her shoulder, further down to her breasts, making sure each one got the same treatment that made Melody melt away.

Melody’s hands were on his back, staying away from where she knew it was hurting, she wanted him to relax, he had had a hard day, she knew that. Her hands were at the waistband of his jeans before she knew it, she wanted him closer. Tucking her thumbs into the waistband, she wanted them off.

Jon unbuttoned her jeans while Melody kept pushing at his, she lifted her hips and Jon pulled her pants and panties all the way down and dropped them next to the bed.

He leaned over her again, his hand resting on her hip; he looked deep into her green eyes. “I love you.” He said.
“I love you too but can you lose the Jeans?” Melody asked.
Jon chuckled and bent down to kiss her. “Certainly my dear.”

He got off the bed and took his jeans off, got a condom from the night stand and got back on to the bed. Melody reached for his erection that already standing at attention. She wrapped her hand around his dick and moved it up and down, softly stroking him as she moved to sit up and pushed him back to recline against the pillows.

Just like Jon had, she moved over him to kiss him passionately. She moved down to kiss his chest, her tongue flicked out to lick his nipple, making Jon groan, she moved on to the other side. She could feel his ready erection between her thighs and couldn’t deny it its own treatment.

Jon groaned again when he felt Melody’s hot breath on him. Her lips felt so soft on him as her mouth took him all the way in it’s hot wetness.

Melody let him go when he groaned again and used her tongue to lick him from base to top. When she knew he was getting as close as she had gotten by his sweet taste she reached for the small square that was lying on the bed next to him.

While she opened it, she licked from base to top one more time and placed the condom at the tip of his dick and rolled it down.

Only then Jon opened his eyes and realized what she was doing and reached for her hips. Melody’s hand didn’t let go of him as she moved above his pelvis, guiding his dick inside her. She felt Jon’s hands’ grip on her hips tighten, going up and down as she did while he kneaded her ass’ cheeks. Melody kept her movements slow but soon she could feel Jon’s hips buck, he was getting closer already.

She felt his hand move from her hip and find the knot between the slippery folds between her legs. He started to stroke her clit softly with his thumb, circling around it.

Melody moaned with the feeling at the same time as Jon’s hips bucked up again. She made her movements faster, making her own orgasm approach faster as well as Jon’s.

Her head tilted backwards, pushing her chest forward and stilled as Jon bucked the last time, cumming simultaneous with her and with a deep groan.

When the tingling feeling started to subside Melody leaned down to kiss Jon’s neck. She could feel his breath in her own neck as both their breathing returned back to normal.

“Did that meet your expectations?” Jon asked.
“It definitely did.” Melody said as she rose a little bit to let him slip from her and lied on top of him to kiss him. “How’s your back?” She thought of a few days ago when he hurt himself.
Jon rolled his eyes. “It’s fine.”
“Uhu,” Melody nodded, “you said that last time too even though you couldn’t move.”

Jon lifted his hips and moved them both to lie on their sides next to each other. “I can move.”
“But did you call your chiropractor?”
“Mel, shut up, I’m fine.” He reached in to kiss her. He didn’t want to talk about his back in the aftermath of sex.

He pushed away the locks of hair that had dropped in front of her face as he they moved. “I’m gonna miss you so much.” He almost whispered.
This time Melody reached in to kiss him. “None of that.” She ordered him to be quiet, a bit nicer than he had had.

She knew he had to leave in only two days but she didn’t want to think of it yet. They still had tomorrow before and after work. She wanted more time with him but couldn’t take more time off of work, she needed the money.

At least she’d still see him on webcam and they would phone, it didn’t seem much but it was something. It seemed liked ages ago that Jon had been touring and she was still able to meet up with him, she didn’t know if they could now.

Jon was thinking the same thing but at least he did know his itinerary. He was in New York around Jake’s birthday but he was going to spend that day with him. If Melody had time, they could see each other the day after that.

He pulled Melody close, her breasts pressing against his chest, giving her a last kiss before they went to sleep.

Chapter 108

When Jon got home, Stephanie was having breakfast in the kitchen. “Morning Princess.” He greeted her while pouring himself a cup of coffee.
“Dad.” She complained annoyed.
“What? You said not around friends, we’re alone here.” She might not be a five year old princess anymore but she’d always be his princess.
Stephanie sighed, that was indeed what she had said.
“Do you want to go to lunch with me and Melody and her friend?” He asked, sitting down across of her.
Stephanie thought it over before answering him. “Yeah, alright.” She decided.

They spent the rest of the morning casually watching tv before walking down to the hotel.

After picking up Melody and Lori they went to a small restaurant Jon and Melody had been to before.

Their lunch was short, Melody and Lori had to get back to the hotel on time. The restaurant was busy, as soon as their food arrived they dug in, they had waited for more than half an hour and now they had to hurry to finish.

Afterwards Jon and Stephanie walked back to the hotel with Melody and Lori. Stephanie said her goodbye’s and continued her way home, Lori did the same and went inside the hotel, leaving Jon and Melody alone in front of the hotel.

“We’re alone.” Jon pointed out.
“Sort of.” They were still in the street.
“Close enough.” He shrugged.

His hand reached to her hair, he wanted to put it back behind her ears but his hands went deeper and pulled her to him. He angled her head and kissed her deeply, letting his tongue travel into her mouth to rub together, they kissed passionately in the middle of the street until they broke away and were gasping for air.

“Wow.” Melody finally said. “Was that a preview for tonight.” She asked with a big smile.
“Oh definitely.” Jon smirked.
“Can’t wait, but I have to go back to work.” Melody said. She’d love to continue what they had started.
“Okay, see you at home.” He gave her another kiss, a short one and made his way home.

Melody smiled as she walked through the lobby, home, how nice it would be to have a home together with Jon.

Jon went home to pick up Stephanie again and drove to Dorothea’s house with her. It was closer to the kid’s schools so they would be home sooner unless Dorothea was picking them up. He still would have enough time for what he had to do.

Jon parked in the driveway and followed Stephanie out of the car. When he lifted the kids their bags out of the trunk, he noticed his back didn’t hurt as much although it was still hurting. Sam’s massage had helped but he should still ask Dean to fix it. Friday he had to be on stage, he didn’t need any back pain then.

He walked up to the door that Dorothea was already holding open for him, she stood in the middle of the doorway.

“Can I come in?” He asked, dropping the bags at his side.
“I don’t think so.” She said coolly.
“Didn’t think so.” He had expected it, it’s why he came over, he could have just dropped Stephanie off but he knew he shouldn’t leave things like they were. “I’m sorry about Saturday, I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”

Dorothea kept her cool look, staring at him.
“And Ian.” He added.
“You’re lucky Ian isn’t home or I’d make you apologize to him.” Dorothea said.

Jon sort of felt relieved he didn’t have to see Ian. Although he had prepared to apologize to him too, he would have to do it later.

“I really am sorry. I didn’t expect to see him and I got mad, which I know I shouldn’t have.” He tried to explain his actions.
“I didn’t expect to see your girlfriend either. I didn’t throw a temper tantrum that Romeo hasn’t even thrown since he was four.” Dorothea said a little annoyed.
“Now I’m four?” Last week Richie told him he was twelve.
“You sure act like a four year old.”
“I said I was sorry!”
“I know, and thank you for that.” Dorothea said.
“You accept my apology then?”He asked rather hopeful, not sure yet if she did.
“Yes. Just don’t ever do that again.”

Now he really did feel like a four year old.
“Where did Steph go?” He asked before calling out for her.

He waited outside for her as Dorothea didn’t move from the doorway to let him in.

Stephanie came down the stairs and gave him a big hug. “I’m gonna miss you dad.”
Jon hugged her back. “I’m gonna miss you too.” He hugged a little tighter. “I love you.” He added.
“I love you too.” She answered him.

They padded each other’s back and let go.

Then he turned to Dorothea. “Do you want a hug too?” He asked unsure.
“Yeah.” She said, opening her arms to hug him.
They shared a short hug.

“See you in a month.” He said to them both before turning around and getting back to his car.

He arrived at Melody’s house a little after half past three. He found the door unlocked and walked in. Kicking his shoes off, leaving them with the pile of other shoes. He liked it, it was just a pile of shoes, but it made it homey. He missed it at his house.

In the living room he found J and Tyler watching tv, as he sat down the door opened again and Ryan walked in. From his seat, he had a clear view of the front door.

Soon enough Jon sat with all of Melody’s children, watching tv. After apologizing to Dorothea he did feel better about what had happened, but he still felt sorry about it. He felt like he just needed a few minutes to himself to reflect.

The next time the door opened he was happily greeted by Faith, she was always happy to see him.
“What’s wrong?” She asked as she sat down next to him.
“Nothing’s wrong.” Jon said a little confused.
“You look a little sad.” Faith sad.
“Nah, I’m just tired.” Jon waved it off, she was only nine, she didn’t know of how stupid he had acted.

Finally Melody walked through the door too. He felt his mood lighten, instantly happier.

“You’re early.” Melody hadn’t expected him until after she got home from work She bounced down on the couch next to him with a big sigh.
“Busy day?” Jon asked.
Melody nodded. “Kind of happy I’m not here for the summer, that’ll be even busier”
“Lucky you, live the rock star life for a while.” He smiled at her. He couldn’t wait, the sooner the better, he needed a break from real life.
“I think I’d like that.” More time with him was always good.
“I almost can’t wait for this month to be over.” Jon said, thinking back at his day of goodbye’s, but in a month he’d do it all again, at least then he didn’t have to say goodbye to Melody.

Chapter 107

Monday morning went the same as every Monday for Melody. She got up, woke the kids, except J, who she had heard coming in at 3am, graduating seniors had the day off.

She packed lunches and before she knew it she was in the passenger seat of her own car, letting Tyler drive. One of these days she should take him for his exam.

At the high school they switched seats and Melody was off to the city. She started wondering how Jon planned to stay at her house for the week while she drove.

Melody started work at 9, together with Lori. “Morning, how was the weekend?” Was the first thing Lori said.
“It was good; I love when Jon is around. I don’t want to say goodbye on Wednesday.” Melody sighed.
“Right, he’s going back on tour.” Lori said.
“Yeah, a whole month. I don’t think I get to see him in between.”
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” Lori shrugged.
“I think its fond enough.” She just didn’t want to say goodbye.

In the last month she had been with him every day. She stayed at his house when her kids weren’t home and he stayed at hers when they were. But now he had to leave and she didn’t want him to.

Earlier that morning the same thoughts were at Jon’s house. The kids were used to him leaving but that didn’t make it easier, sometimes they still got emotional.

That morning he sat in Jake’s room. After breakfast Jake was taking an awfully long time to get dressed.

When Jon went to check what was taking him so he found him staring at his packed bag to take to his mom with tears in his eyes, half undressed, only wearing his pajama bottoms.

“What’s wrong?” Jon asked squatting down at his side, even though he knew. “Jakey?” He turned him around so he could see him but Jake stared at the floor between them.
“I don’t want you to leave.” Jon’s heart sunk when he heard him say the words. It still hurt every time he heard it.

He pulled his son closed and hugged him. “I know.” He didn’t like leaving his family but he loved his job too.
Jake wiped his tears from his eyes. “Are you home for my birthday?” He hiccupped between sobs.
Jon hated disappointing him but, “The day afterwards and that’s a Sunday, so just you and me, all day, whatever you want, okay?” Jon hoped to cheer him up a little.
Jake nodded.
Jon wiped the remaining tears from Jake’s eyes and hugged him again. “Are you gonna finish dressing or are you going to school in PJ’s?” He joked.
Jake looked down at his shirtless upper body and PJ’s, at least he was half way.

Jon left him be and hoped he was the only one having a hard time today. Last September when he left to South America he couldn’t have had a worse day; none of them wanted him to go and made it very clear to him.

He found his oldest and youngest son in the living room watching the morning cartoons. “Are you two ready?” They would have to leave in 10 minutes. He continued his way to clean up the breakfast mess in the kitchen. Only a minute later Jesse walked in to the kitchen, hugged Jon and was gone as fast as he had come.
When it finally was time to leave he was surprised Romeo hadn’t said anything yet. Of course Jesse wasn’t going to say anything, which 17 year old would admit he’d miss his father, so Jon thought that was as much as he’d get from him.

In the car he could hear sniffing in the back seat. His heart sunk even more, days like these made his job horrible. He looked in the rear view mirror just in time to see Romeo wipe his nose with the back of his hand. Normally he would have said something, but he didn’t want to upset him even more. Why did he make this tour so long? The last one was only half as long. Soon it would be over, but not soon enough.

Jesse was dropped off first. “Love you Jess.” Jon said as Jesse got out, he knew better than getting out of the car too, although he was sure he heard a low love you too and miss you before the door slammed shut.

At the lower school Jake was the first to take a deep breath and walk away after more than a few hugs and love yous.

Romeo was still sniffing when Jon turned to him. “You okay buddy?” He knew it happened that they got emotional but not this bad and not all of them in the middle of a tour, 3 more months he said to himself.

Romeo didn’t answer his question. “Four weeks Romeo and I’ll come and see you when I can. Four weeks, then school’s out and you stay with me for two whole weeks.” He explained to him. Romeo sniffed and nodded.

Jon opened his back pack and found the package of Kleenex that Dorothea always made sure they had and gave him one.

Romeo took it, blew his nose and wiped away his tears, just when the school bell rang.

Jon ignored it, his son was more important. Jon sighed again and hugged his son until he was finally done sniffing. “Okay now?” He asked.
Romeo nodded. “I love you daddy.”
“I love you more Romeo.” He looked up to see an empty playground. “Come on, I’ll walk you to your class.”

After explaining to Romeo’s teacher why he was late, he gave Romeo a last hug, at least that wasn’t considered lame yet in the second grade. On his way back to the car, he made sure to pass by the fourth grade windows, he spotted Jake immediately and waved, waiting for him to wave back until he walked away.

Now the only one he had to say goodbye to was Stephanie, for today. He hated saying goodbye; it hadn’t been that bad since last September. He’d make up for Jake’s birthday and when he was home again, they’d all get their own day to chose whatever they want to do.

He put off dropping the kids their stuff at Dorothea’s, Stephanie was still at his house, so he decided to make some more time with her but after checking if she was up, which she was not he decided to go see Melody.

It was a busy Monday for Melody once again. Both her and Lori had a line of people checking in and out.

When Melody looked up from her computer after checking out the previous tourist to see who was next, a big smile turned on her face. His dark blond hair and ocean blue eyes were beautiful as ever.
“Jon, I’m working.” She felt bad for turning him down.
“When do you get a break?” He asked.
“As soon as everyone is checked out.” She tried to look behind him, only 3 people were standing behind him.
Jon looked over his shoulder, “I should move then. I’ll wait.” He turned around and sat in one of the couches that stood in the lobby.

Melody tried to hurry up but the second person started asking about places to visit and sights to see. Melody did her job and helped him out as best as she could.

Finally everyone that had to check out was checked out and the lobby was calmer and she saw Jon reading a magazine where he was sitting.

She nudged Lori and pointed at Jon, “Do you mind if I go join him for a while?” She asked.
“Go ahead, it’s not as busy. Remind him of my concert tickets.” Lori reminded her of last week when she took over Melody’s shift.

Jon looked up when Melody sat down next to him. Then he looked around the lobby, it was empty compared to earlier. “What time do you finish?” He asked.
“At 3. I’ll be going straight home.” She said in case Jon was going to suggest something to do.
He checked his watch, 10.05. He’d still have time to spend with Stephanie. “Steph’s still home so I’m spending some time with her before dropping her off at Dot’s. I’ll meet you here at 3, that good?”
Melody nodded, so that’s how he planned staying with her, “Don’t you need your car or anything?”
“Right, then I’ll just go to your place after I leave Dot’s, before the kids come home.” He didn’t want to make it harder and say goodbye again. “What about lunch, any plans?” If he could spend more time with her, he would.
“I was just staying in the staff lounge with Lori.” Melody answered, it was what she did every day.
“Do you think Lori would come along if we ask her?” That way, he thought, Lori wouldn’t be alone during lunch.
“Are you kidding me? She’d love to.”
“Okay, 12?” Jon asked, not entirely sure when Melody had her lunch break.
Melody nodded and Jon kissed her before he left.

Chapter 106

After the graduation ceremony, Melody felt proud and sad at the same time. She couldn’t resist hugging her oldest son even though he hated it, he allowed it for once. She quickly informed him about Jon and his kids staying over before getting in the car with him and the other children. Robert would meet them later at her house.

Only then it struck Melody that Robert might not like meet Jon again. The first time they met it had only been a few minutes, now it would be the rest of the afternoon and evening. Melody hoped it would work out; she didn’t want a repeat of the day before.

While resting his back in bed, Jon had fallen asleep again. He could perfectly function on 5 short hours of sleep but being in a bed made it hard not to sleep.

When Melody arrived home she found all four of Jon’s children in the living room. The two youngest still in pajama’s. He couldn’t get them dressed while she was gone, Melody thought annoyed. Guests would arrive soon.

Annoyed she put her things away while all her children joined the living room, making it crowed and she went to look for Jon.

She found him easily, asleep in her bed, on his back; usually he slept on his side, had he been lying?

She sat down on the edge of the bed next to him. “Hon wake up. Guests will be here soon.” She gently woke him.
“Already?” He asked, his eyes still closed.
“It’s almost 4pm. How’s your back?” Melody thought that was the reason he went to lie down again.
“It’s fine.” He grunted as he sat up.
“Sure it is. Then why are you sleeping?” She didn’t believe him at all now.
“Cause I was tired.” Came his defence.
“You should phone your chiropractor.” Melody told him, at least that would help his back.
“It’s Sunday, I don’t want to bother Dean on a Sunday.”
“Ah so it does hurt.” Melody pointed out. “You could phone him and ask him to come tomorrow.” That wouldn’t be bothering him on a Sunday afternoon.
“I’ll phone him tomorrow.” Jon said as he got up from the bed.

Melody let it be, she knew he was stubborn and couldn’t change his mind once it was made up.

Jon got Jake and Romeo ready while Melody prepared the back yard.

Once again her house was full with eight children and she kind of liked it. She was glad the kids got along so well. After a week in Hawaii they got to know each other better. Jake and Romeo liked having a new playmate and she was sure Faith liked having kids her age. Even Stephanie got along with Melody’s oldest kids, even though she hadn’t liked the idea of another three boys at first.

Melody had everything ready just as the first guests started arriving. Soon enough the entire family was in the back yard.

Jon hoped that was everyone, he wasn’t sure how many more times his back could take it to stand up to shake hands and sit down again.

Melody’s family wasn’t as big as his, just her sister, brother and parents. Robert’s parents were there too but no brothers or sisters of his.

Jon saw Robert sitting at the far end of the table but they hadn’t said more than a hello. He thought back to yesterday, would Robert mind he was here?

Melody’s sister sat down opposite of Jon. “Those kids are exhausting.” She pointed to the corner of the garden where six little children were playing. Jon’s boys and Melody’s girl were playing with Daniel’s two daughters, Amber and Zoey, and Samantha’s son Logan.

Jon leaned back in his chair to see them but he couldn’t move.

“Why did I get pregnant again?”

Jon snapped back to the conversation, sitting up too fast, why did he keep doing that? When he realized it was Sam that had said it, he relaxed again.

It was the first thing Melody noticed about her sister. She knew Samantha and Jason were trying for a second child and by the looks of it they were successful, Sam was almost three months along.

It also made her think about herself, Jon shared the same thought but Melody was sure it was just stress and that she’d have her period next week.

After thinking a little more about getting up and talking to Robert, Jon finally stood up and walked over to Robert.

“Hi,” he started and Robert looked up at him, “we didn’t get off to a good start last time. Wanna start over?” He asked, hoping he would agree.
Robert simply nodded.
Jon extended his hand. “Hi, I’m Jon.”
Robert took his hand. “Rob.”
“Nice to meet you.” Jon sat down next to him and they started talking.

Much better, simple as that, Jon thought with a little disbelief that it was that easy.

At the other end of the table Melody sat with Sam, talking about her new nephew or niece. She saw Jon sitting in his chair, uncomfortable. He was trying to twist and turn, it seemed like he could stay seated much longer.

Then Melody got an idea. “Sam, you think you could give Jon a massage if I convince him? His back his killing him but he won’t admit it.”
Samantha got a big smile on her face.

Melody knew even though Sam was a very professional masseuse she’d love to help Jon. She was just as much a fan as Melody was. Melody was just a fan in a different way now.

“Of course I would, it’s only my second biggest dream about him.” She said.
“What’s the first?” Melody asked interested.
“I’m not telling you.”
Melody chuckled, she knew what she meant.

Jon returned from his conversation with Rob and started a short conversation with Melody’s parents before talking with Daniel about Steve Jobs ruining the record business.

Melody liked the evening; at least there hadn’t been any fights.

An hour later Jon and Rob were both standing at the barbecues.

Lori had showed up with her husband and children through the back yard gate and joined their party.

Jon kept stretching his back every few minutes, balancing on one foot but nothing helped, he just hoped Melody didn’t notice it.

“See.” Melody pointed at Jon.
Samantha nodded. “If you convince him, I will.”

Just like at Stephanie’s party, J left after dinner to meet up with some friends but invited Stephanie with him. Both Jon and Melody weren’t sure what to think of it.

Also after dinner Melody’s parents left, saying they had a long drive back home. Jon got up with Melody to lead them to the door.
“It was very nice to meet you.” Jon said, he had meant to meet them last month at Faith’s birthday but couldn’t make it then, today he could finally explain that.
“It’s nice to meet you in real too. I’m glad you two found each other.” Melody’s mum, Ruth said with a smile.

They hugged goodbye and watched them go. Only when they left the street did Melody and Jon go back inside. Melody hoped now that she was alone with him for a little while, she could convince him.

“You know my sister is a masseuse, she knows some chiropracting tricks too.”
“I’m fine. It’s not that bad.” He insisted.
“You’re very bad at hiding your pain.” Melody told him. “Just stop being so proud and let my sister help you.” Melody pushed him.
Jon groaned. “But I like being proud.”
Melody rolled her eyes, she knew he was joking now.
“Alright.” He said, he still preferred Dean to do it but maybe it would help for now.

Melody went to get Samantha and a few minutes later they met Jon in her bedroom. “Now be good and let Sammy help you.” Melody said almost strictly. She left the room and closed the door behind her.

“I hope you don’t want me all naked for this.” He knew Sam was a fan too, he was only kidding.
“Alright then.” Samantha sighed dramatically.
Jon chuckled, Melody did that too.
“Just you’re shirt and unfasten your pants.” Samantha said.

Jon did as he was told and lied down on the bed.

Seconds later he felt Sam’s hands on his back, travelling over his spine. “Geez Jon, what did you do?” Sam asked, feeling all the knots of tight muscles.
“I picked up my son.”
“And?” Sam asked, that couldn’t be all he did.
“And put up a tent, carried a barbecue, filled both of them with coal, sat too long, stood too long.” Jon made his list.
“Anything else?” Samantha joked with his long list she started massaging him.
“Nothing that I want to tell you.” He smiled, looking over his shoulder at her.
“I know enough, now relax.” She ordered.

Jon dropped his head on his pillow. Sam’s hands on his back did feel good. He could feel his back relaxing already. The pain started going away the longer she smoothed out the knots.

When Samantha finished, his back felt much better and relaxed, he felt better all over. “Thanks.” He said as he got up from the bed. He stretched and nothing hurt, what a relief.
“You should still see a chiropractor though.” Samantha advised him.

They rejoined the party outside. It was a little darker than before.

At 9 Jon had to say goodbye and so did everyone else, so he stuck around until everyone was gone. Daniel and Samantha both had little kids that needed their beds.

Rob was the first to leave with his parents. Sam followed along with Jason and little Logan then Daniel with his wife Paige and their two little girls.

After saying goodbye it was only Jon and Melody by the front door.
“What are we doing this week?” Jon asked her when they closed the door. “I only leave Wednesday night.” He said, hoping to still see her this week.
“I’m working all week, I guess if you want you can stay.”
That’s exactly what he wanted, a big smile on his face.

They got the kids together and kissed goodbye at the door before putting everyone in the car. Jon was sure Stephanie would make it home on her own; she had a day off anyway.

Jon closed the back seat door of the car and turned around to kiss Melody again.

Melody waved to the car as it drove away.

Chapter 105

The next morning Jon got up with grunts and groans but tried to be quiet about it to not wake Melody. When he stood it actually felt better until he went to sit in the kitchen.

He needed Dean, his chiropractor but he didn’t want to bother him on a Sunday. It would have to wait until tomorrow.

He got up again to make some coffee, even though it was instant coffee, it was better than no coffee at all. He found one of the cups with his picture on and made his coffee.

Rummaging through the fridge he found two boxes of 12 eggs but they were both half empty. A pan he found in the same drawer where he had found a pan a few weeks ago when he made mac & cheese.

Before he started making the eggs he noticed he was the only one that was up. Checking for a clock he saw it was only a few minutes before 7am. He shouldn’t make breakfast yet. He didn’t get more than five hours of sleep but he couldn’t stay in bed any longer, he needed to get up and stretch.

Maybe he should get those hot packs and heat them up or the painkillers. Where had she left them? Didn’t she leave them out in case he got up? He didn’t see anything left on the counter. Carefully he stretched his back and looked around in some cabinets.

After he didn’t find anything there was only one cabinet left to check. The one above the fridge, he tried to reach it but his back wouldn’t let him. He stood there staring at the cabinet that was just out of his reach until he heard footsteps on the stairs.

“What are you doing?” Jon looked to see Jake standing there.
“Nothing, I need your help.”

They got a chair from the table and Jake climbed on to it to reach the cabinet. Finally painkillers, Jon thought with relief. He took three without water while Jake put the chair away.

“Are you ok dad?” Jake asked a little worried.
“Yeah, let’s go watch tv.”

An hour later when the painkillers finally relaxed Jon’s back again he got up again and found those eggs he had earlier and started making breakfast, it was almost 8am by now so people should start waking up soon.

Jake stayed in the living room and continued watching tv while Jon cooked, soon he was joined by Romeo.

Melody woke up smelling eggs, a little confused she turned around and saw Jon wasn’t there. She got up and dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. If Jon was up that must mean he was feeling better. The hot packs were still in the bed, she hoped they had helped him and picked them up to put them away again.

“Morning.” She was greeted when she stepped into the kitchen.
“Good morning. How’s your back?” Melody asked as she stored the hot packs in the cabinet above the fridge.
“Much better.” He lied.
“That’s good; I might need some help later.” She gave him a good morning kiss.

She still had to get the party tent up and get Lori’s barbecue, that way she would have two for the barbecue that night.

Melody set the table and soon they all sat at the table except Stephanie. Guessing she had been out pretty late, they left her to sleep.

After breakfast Melody started to get things ready, she had to be at the high school at 1pm so she still had four hours but she hated doing things last minute.

Together with Jon and Jesse she got the tent up. Jesse and Melody went to Lori’s back yard to get her outside table too while Jon reached to secure the top of the tent, reaching too far. “Aah, fuck.” He swore painfully and loud enough for Melody to hear.

“What did you do?” She asked worried while she walked backwards into her yard carrying the table.
“Nothing, all good.” He lied again but he didn’t want to worry Melody.

Jake and Romeo helped putting the chairs around the tables as Jon carried the barbecue to Melody’s. This time he tried not to swear or let on when it hurt his back while he carried it. Those painkillers couldn’t have lost their affect already.

Soon the back yard was all set, everything ready for the party to start as soon as Melody got home again.

After a short lunch she went to her room to shower, Jon followed her and got in the shower with her. He tried very hard to keep his hands off of her, just washing her instead of trying to arouse her with his touches. He wouldn’t have been able to follow up anyway, not with that kind of pain.

The painkillers did help a bit but didn’t take the pain away entirely.

Melody picked out a dress for the ceremony, making sure to give Jon a few options in what he’d like too. Sadly they couldn’t go with her since the school had limited seats. So Jon stayed home with his kids to wait for Melody to get back with her children.

After Melody left, Jake and Romeo watched tv. Jesse was allowed to use Melody’s laptop and Stephanie was still sleeping.

Jon thought that was the perfect time for him to get away. He had left the painkillers on the counter earlier and took them again. After he put the glass he used in the sink, he went to Melody’s room to lie down.
