Chapter 112

Saturday morning Melody took a relaxing bath, something she hadn’t done in quite a few weeks. She didn’t count the hot tub with Jon in Hawaii.

Although, she did let those memories enter her mind while she relaxed.

Hawaii had been a great time but as soon as they got home, life had happened and the relaxing feeling of their vacation was very far gone in only a few hours, now she tried to get some of that feeling back.

After getting a good soak in the tub she got up and went to get dressed. When she passed the night stand, she noticed her cell phone. Instead of phoning, she decided to text Jon, knowing it was before 10am and he wouldn’t be up yet. She sent a quick good morning text and went to get Faith to get ready.

Only a little while later Melody parked her car in one of the few spaces of the parking lot. Like any other Saturday It was busy at the mall but she was determined to have a great mother daughter day with Faith.

Come to think of it she realized she would be gone for two whole months soon. She had told the kids so they knew about it but it was the first time she was leaving them for such a long time. Not even in the summer holidays, Melody and Robert always split those weeks equally.

They were off to a few stores for Faith first. She picked out her own clothes but changed her mind on almost everything after fitting.

In the last store for children they had a baby department at the front. Melody lingered, looking at the cute onesies, she found one that had an electric guitar on it and read “rock star” She looked at it in awe, it was adorable. Baby clothing had changed in the last few years.

She always thought baby clothes were cute but now it was different, now there was a possibility that she was pregnant. A possibility, she wasn’t sure, so she hung it back and went to look for Faith in the girl’s department of the store.

Faith was holding a t-shirt that looked similar to the onesie Melody had been holding. It was black with many bright coloured guitars. Above the pictures it said “rock chick” in the same colours as the guitars were.

“Too bad they don’t have keyboards or anything but I like this. Can I have it mum?” She asked excited.
“If it’s your size.” Melody took the shirt and looked at the label. “You need 8 to 10 year old.” Melody hung it back and looked for the right size.
“Thanks mum, do you think Jon’ll like it?” Faith took the shirt and held it tightly, she surely wasn’t going to return that to the racks.
“You can match Romeo, he has a t-shirt with a guitar too.”

Faith found a lot more clothes in this store, saying it was her new favourite store.

Melody chuckled when she made the comment as they walked to the register.

When they walked out of the store again, they passed the baby section again, she tried not to look but the idea was still in her head.

She tried to tell herself to not think of it but what if it was? They had only known each other for four months, he was a huge rock star, would he stick around? He loved her but that much? At least it would have been made with love. But a pregnancy at her age would probably be harder than her other ones. How would they work? They didn’t even live together and couldn’t because of their other children.

She had to stop this, she didn’t even know for sure if she was pregnant. A part inside her hoped that she was, another little one. Another one to raise, the rest had grown up too fast, maybe this one could stay little.

They went to the food court and bought their lunches. Just as they sat down Melody received a text on her cell phone.

12.35pm: Just got up, how’s shopping? J
Instead of texting back, Melody pressed the call button.

“Hey.” He answered almost immediately.
“You’re up late.” Melody told him.
“It’s only 11.” He answered.
“Oh right, I forgot, sorry.” She remembered they had a little time difference now.
“It’s okay. So did you buy anything I might like on my floor?” He asked.
Melody chuckled. “No, didn’t see any nice rugs.” She tried to say serious after chuckling.
“Oh you’re so hilarious.” Jon told her. “Did you? What about something I might like on you?”
“No, only been shopping for Faith so far.” She explained to him.
“What did she buy then?” He asked just as interested.

Melody loved that he actually cared.

“Do you want to talk to her instead?” She tried to feign annoyance but either Jon knew she wasn’t really annoyed or he wanted to talk to Faith.
“Sure.” He answered.

Melody shrugged and passed the phone to Faith. While Faith talked, Melody started her own lunch.

She heard Faith talk about her new t-shirt and that she was wearing it to school on Monday. Then she got a little confused when Faith said number seven and the letter L.

Maybe he had asked a silly question.

Faith said goodbye and handed the phone back.

“Hey.” She let him know she was back.
“Do you know when you’re home? We leave the hotel at 4 so I don’t know when I can phone you back tonight.” He explained.
“Probably later than that.” Melody wasn’t sure but she wasn’t done shopping yet.
“Okay.” Jon was quiet for a minute. “We can do that video chat thingy tomorrow then.” He offered.

Melody did the same as Jon and thought it over.

“Can we do it Monday after work?” She wanted to spend Sunday with her kids too, take them to a movie and some dinner.
“Yeah of course. Tomorrow we fly to Canada so Monday evening I have nothing to do, works even better actually. What shift are you working?” He hoped she was going to make use of that key and stay at his house.
“8 to 8.” Melody answered him.
“I hope you stay at my place then.” It were early hours and he liked the idea of her at his apartment.
“I might.” She wasn’t sure yet how it would feel to be there without him.
“Alright, I’ll phone you tomorrow and I’ll see you Monday.” He said.
“Perfect.” Melody said and added, “I love you.”
“Love you too.”

And he hung up the phone.

Video chat on Monday, she liked that, they’d see each other. For now she was back to shopping with Faith.

After their lunch they visited some stores for Melody. She didn’t find anything special, some tops and new jeans. She didn’t want to buy lingerie with Faith with her so instead she treated Faith to a ride on the big carrousel at the food court.

After they had everything they wanted they left the mall and went to a restaurant. She had left money for the boys to buy their own food.

When Melody was finally home and in her bed, she felt tired but happy. She spent the whole day with her little girl and she couldn’t even remember the last time they had done that.

Even though she knew Jon would still be on stage, she shot him a good night text anyway.

Melody you need to go to the doctor to find out if you are pregnant. I think at first Jon will be shocked but after the shock wears off I think he will be excited. Love the shopping trip with Faith sounds like they had a lot of fun.

@Jovikitn65, soon, soon you'll know
@Maianai, really? I find it boring and have no idea where it's leading too and I've had like 3 ways to just end it....

@Pirate, Boring? Not at all! But Mel can NOT be pregnant. Only being worried a bit longer, just to punish her bad care with her pills ;)
