Chapter 104

“I’m sorry.” Jon said again a few minutes later. He just hoped someone would break the silence. Instead he just turned on the radio. He didn't mean to explode again like that, it just happened.

Melody didn’t know what to say. She was convinced he loved her, she tried to think that it was just the way he got divorced that he hated. If he still wanted Dorothea what was he doing with her?

Jake and Romeo had gone back to sleep, Romeo leaning on Jake and Jake leaning on Jesse, who was staring out of the window in to the darkness.

Partly he was right, it was his house, he got to decide who got to stay and who would go. But she also understood Dorothea didn’t want to drive to New York. It was the same reason Jon wanted to stay there too.

Melody was surprised when they stopped at a gas station. She had been monitoring his speed while he was driving. The tank was more than half full.

Jon opened the door to get out and heard Jesse do the same. “Where are you going?” Jon asked him before he got out.
“I want a drink.” He answered.
“I’ll get you something.” Jon said, he didn't want his kid in the store while he made his purchases.
“Coke.” But Jon had already closed his door.

He walked around the car, quickly filling the tank before going into the shop to pay.

When he came back he held a bottle of coke zero to the back for Jesse to take and gave Melody a little plastic bag.

Jon started the car and drove back on the highway; they’d be in Woodbridge in a few minutes.

Melody opened the bag to see its contents. She chuckled, she should have known.

Before they knew it they were at Melody’s house. Jon got out to open Melody’s door and gave her a hand like he always did.

At the front door they kissed.
“I really am sorry. I shouldn’t have exploded like that.” He apologized for the third time.
“It’s alright, I understand.”
“Thanks. At least Stephanie wasn’t there.” He joked but he was glad he didn’t ruin her evening although he probably ruined everyone else’s.
“Do you want to come in?” Melody asked.
Jon pointed over his shoulder, to the car. “I got three kids.” He didn’t get what Melody was hinting at.
“I have enough beds and if you’re coming over tomorrow anyway…” She left her sentence open ended for Jon to answer.
“Yeah, alright.” He said grinning, he’d like that. He gave her a quick kiss before turning around.

He opened the door on Romeo’s side and picked him up. He could feel his back muscles tense already.
“What are you doing?” Jesse asked confused.
“We’re staying the night, can you get Jake?” Jon closed the door and shifted Romeo but it didn’t relieve the strain on his back.

He hated that he was getting too heavy to carry. He got the bag from the trunk and walked into the house.

“Mel?” He asked, not seeing her anywhere.
“Down here.” She called from the basement.

Jon carefully walked down the stairs with Jesse behind him. He knew Romeo was old enough to wake up and walk by himself but he liked taking care of him.

The bedroom door was open and the light turned on. Jon walked in and saw Melody putting clean sheets on the beds. “I thought the boys could have this room and Jesse,” she looked over at him, “can have Ryan’s or the pull out couch.” She explained to them as Jon sat down on the closest bed, putting Romeo down, relieving the pain in his back.

“Dad?” He asked confused when his sleep was disrupted for the second time that night.
“We’re at Melody’s, we’re staying the night here, okay?” Jon asked him.
Romeo nodded.

Jesse had helped Jake to his bed and Melody went to show him Ryan’s room.

“Jake’s with you and Melody and I will be upstairs.” Jon pulled the covers over him, tucking him in. “Good night buddy.” He turned around to tuck in Jake but he hadn’t even woken up.
“Night daddy, I love you.”
“Love you too.”

Jon turned off the light and carefully closed the door.

He found Melody in the kitchen. “You should let Stephanie know you’re here.” She said as he walked in.
“Yeah.” He got out his phone and wasn’t sure to phone or text.

She could ignore his call but if he phoned her, he was sure she got it.

“I’m gonna make the pull out bed and I’ll leave the front door unlocked for her.”
Jon nodded and dialed the number.

He was surprised when Stephanie picked up after the second ring.
“Wait a second.” He heard her say in a room full of noise when it was a little quieter she spoke again. “Dad, you said you wouldn’t check in on me.” She complained.
“I’m not, I’m just telling you we’re staying at Melody’s. I’ll sent you the address if you don’t know it.” He explained.
“Ok.” Was all she answered.
“Melody made a bed in the den and left the front door unlocked. Would be nice if you lock it when you get in.” He added.
“I will.”
“Ok, I’ll let you go, have fun.”
“Thanks dad. Bye.”
“Bye.” He said to the dialing tone.

He tried to let it go, she just wanted to party, not talk to her dad.

Melody walked in when Jon put his phone on the counter with a sigh.
“You alright?” She asked; he looked sad again. It really wasn’t his week.
“Yeah.”
“Did you talk to Stephanie?” She walked over to hug him.

She felt his arms on her lower back and stroked his back in return. “Don’t you just hate how fast they grow up?” Melody whispered, she knew she had been thinking it all weekend.
She could feel him nod against her. “Not just her. I can’t even pick up Romeo without hurting my back anymore.” He smiled sheepishly when they let go.
“Did you hurt your back?”
“It’s ok.” He quickly said, he didn’t want to seem an old man that couldn’t even carry his youngest son.
“You sure? I got hot packs and cold packs.” She offered him. With three boys playing sports passionately, she had them ready at any time.
“No really, it’s fine.” He said again. “Where did you leave that bag?” He asked.
“Oh, I think it’s still in the car.”
“I’ll go get it, you go ahead to bed.” He waggled his eyebrows and gave her a quick kiss.
Melody giggled and watched him walk out of the door before turning to her room.

She used the bathroom and Jon was back in a minute. They undressed together before getting in bed.
“This is better than a quickie anyway.” He said, stroking her side when he lied down next to her.
“I do agree.” She smiled at him.

His hand moved up her side and covered her breast, softly squeezing it before circling his index finger around her nipple.

When it was hard, he bent down and took it in his mouth, softly sucking. His hand moved to stroke the other, making Melody moan at the feeling.

Jon moved closer to her, pressing himself against her side to let her know how turned on he was. He had been waiting all afternoon and evening. Since they were in his bedroom he couldn’t shake the idea of making love to her at that time. Luckily he got to sit down most of the evening and he had worn briefs, he was sure it went by unnoticed.

Melody felt him push her legs apart with his hand, the warm flesh of his fingers sliding inside her. His mouth still warm on her, he stimulated her in two ways.

She shivered when the cold hit her as Jon sat up. He reached for the night stand, opening the box of condoms and picking the first one out. He handed it to Melody to open it.

He sat up, ignoring the pain in his back that was still there and moved over her to rest on his elbows as he slowly entered her and started rocking against her.

Melody moaned with pleasure, meeting every stroke he made.

Being this close to him finally made her forget all the worries of the last few days. The more she relaxed the faster her orgasm approached.

Before she knew it she was shuddering underneath him and he dropped on top of her.

“Okay there?” She whispered to his ear when he didn’t move.
He shook his head. “I kinda hurt my back.” He hated to admit it, who hurts themselves while having sex anyway?
“Aw baby, I’m sorry.” She stroked his back. “Where?” She asked, stroking over his spine to find where it hurt, he tensed when she reached the middle and lower part of his back. “There?”
“Yeah. Think you still have those hot packs?” He groaned.
“As soon as you get off of me.” Melody answered him. She tried to massage his back, making the pain go away.
“Give me a minute.”

Melody found the hot packs in the kitchen and heated two up for him, making sure it was enough to cover almost his entire spine. She found some pain killers and got a glass of water while she waited for the packages to heat.

She found him in the bed on his back; he was staring at the ceiling but turned his head to look at her when she walked in. His mind had drifted back to earlier. He hadn't meant to be a jerk all day. He loved Melody, he knew that, he was about to ask her the most important question after he had gone shopping with Richie. He just hated how everything had happened and with that he hated Ian, it was easier to blame it all on him.

All the years before his marriage worked just fine with his job and touring, why didn't last time? In his opinion that was all Ian's fault. He loved Melody with all his heart and only her, then his mind wandered to the possibility of Melody being pregnant. What if she was? What would they do? No doubt about it that they’d keep it, he’d never do that. But they hadn’t even known each other for 6 months. It would still be great to have a baby with her.

“You should take some pain killers, that’ll help the muscles relax.” She said, holding out the glass of water and the pills.

Jon sat up with a grunt and took them for her. Melody arranged the packages on the bed so he could lie down again.

“That better?” She asked when he lied down again.
“It’s hot.” He hadn’t expected it to be that hot.
“It’s supposed to be.”

Melody got in the bed next to him and cuddled close to him. Her arm resting over his chest, she played with his chest hair, her head rested on his shoulder.

“Mel,” He asked carefully, “I gotta ask you something.”
“You ok sweetie? Do you need anything else?” Melody asked worried.
“No.”
“Then what is it?”
“You’ve been at my place for a week and well we’ve been having sex…” He wasn’t sure if he should ask anymore.
Melody fit the pieces together, so he didn’t have to finish his question. “No, I haven’t.”
“Oh.” He didn’t know what to say, so it was possible.
“It’s only a week; it’s just the stress from this week.” Melody said, she was sure it was just that. “I know it is, don’t worry, next week will be calmer and… you know.”
“Ok.” He trusted her, she would know, it was her body, she knew how it worked. He kissed her forehead and wrapped his arm around her. "I love you Melody."
"I know, I love you Jonny."
"I really didn't mean any of those things I said." He apologized again.
"It's ok, I told you I understand. It's just the way it all happened isn't it?" She asked him.

He loved how she understood everything, all this week, even with Richie she hadn't said a thing about it, she understood and let him handle it in his own way. How could he even want anybody else? Melody was always caring and understanding, in whatever mood he was. He remembered telling her he could be a complete jerk, she said she wouldn't mind, seems like she really didn't. Even after a bad day, week like this, she was still there with him.

"Geez Melody, I think I love you even more than five minutes ago." He pulled his arm tighter around her.

Melody was never a person to hold a grudge. After someone apologized to her, she'd forgive and forget. People never understood how she could do that so easily but she didn't understand the use of staying mad at someone. Jon had said he was sorry and tried to explain, he loved her, she knew that, that was most important, why would she stay mad at him? If he really did want somebody else, he would have left by now and not have a four month, very serious relationship with her. He wouldn't have taken her to Hawaii and not gone through the trouble of getting her a passport so she could go to Europe for two whole months with him.

Chapter 103

Jon ran after her. “Melody wait, I didn’t mean it that way!”
She turned around to face him. “Then what did you mean?!”
“Come on Melody.” He didn’t know yet what to say.
“What?” She asked him again.
“You know what it’s like. I was with Dot my whole like and that piece of fuck Ian ruined it.” He explained.
“Real helpful Jon.” Melody turned around again.

If he wanted Dorothea so bad what was he even doing with her? She knew it, it was just too good to be true.

He gained on her again. “Melody, I hate him for doing that. He ruined my marriage.” He tried to take her hands but she pulled away, at least she wasn't walking away he thought. “But I wouldn’t change it, last year I probably would have wanted to but then I met you and I don’t want to change that. I love you Melody, you know that.” He explained and hoped she would understand what he meant but she didn’t move a muscle.

“Melody,” he started over, “I love you, I can’t imagine a day without you anymore.” He wondered if he should get the surprise out that he was keeping for next week to convince her. “I don’t even want to imagine a day without you.” He sighed. “I just hate Ian for what he did but I wouldn’t change it either. I really wouldn’t.”

He sighed when she still didn’t say anything.

“You have to believe me.” Jon tried to hold her hands, this time she didn’t pull away. “Please?”

Melody sighed. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea that they hadn’t talked about their divorces, if they had, maybe this could have been avoided.

“Then why did you say that?” She stood with her arms crossed, looking back at him.
“Because since he came into Dot’s life, he came in mine and took everything I cared about.” He paused for a minutes, just looking at her. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way, I just hate him.” He hoped she’d understand.
“It’s okay, I understand.” Melody sighed.

Only an hour ago she was thinking how she’d feel about the other person. Ian had disrupted his life and messed it all up, of course he hated him for that.

“I really do love you Melody, very much.” He said again.
Melody sighed. “I know, I love you too.”
“Good, I love it when you love me too.” His hands moved to her shoulders and he hugged her.

“Maybe we should talk more about our divorces.” Melody said when he let her go.
“Maybe that’s not a bad idea. Now?” He looked around, it didn’t seem like the party had started yet.
“Sure.” Melody said and followed him back to the bench they were sitting on earlier.

Jon told Melody how two years ago Dorothea told him she found someone else while he was on tour and that she was taking the kids and moving out. At that moment Jon couldn’t believe what was happening. One day he was perfectly happy, had a perfect family, a perfect life. The next he was in court arranging when he would get to see his children.

Unlike Melody’s divorce, she had seen it coming. They kept growing apart until they gave up. She didn’t hate Rob but understood why Jon hated Ian and forgave him for what he had said. He had meant it in another way than she understood.

“Dad!” Jon looked back over his shoulder to see Stephanie.
“Hey, you finally got here.” Jon said as he got up.
“Mum said you left.” Stephanie answered.
“Why would I leave your party? I’m so proud of you.” He added a hug to how proud he was.
“Are you going to keep saying that all day?”
He had only told her about ten times. “No.”
“Good.” Stephanie said relieved.
“The rest of your life.” Jon added.
“Ugh!” Stephanie sighed.

A while later they were in the backyard again where there were white party tents, long tables with friends and family. Melody enjoyed meeting Jon’s family it was a lot bigger than her own family.

Cousins everywhere, she was sure she couldn’t remember all of those names.

“Didn’t I say I hoped to see you more after the tour?”Carol joked.
“Yeah you did but Stephanie asked me and the kids to come.”
“Are your kids here too?” Carol asked surprised.
“No, they’re at their dad’s, it's just me.”
“Aw, I bet they’re as lovely as their mum. I hope I get to meet them too." Carol seemed honest about what she was saying.
“I’m sure you will.” Melody said with a smile. It was nice to know Carol wanted to meet her children too.

After dinner and dessert Jon’s prediction came true and Stephanie was the first to leave and go celebrate with her friends.

Melody sat with Jon, his brothers and parents while Dorothea sat with her family. Melody knew it always went like that with separated families; it was the same at her family parties. Probably only the children didn’t mind. Jesse was sitting at a table with his cousins playing cards while Jake and Romeo were running around with a bunch of other kids.

Around 11 the little ones all stopped running and one by one went back to their parents. Melody was surprised when Romeo came to sit on her lap.

Half an hour later Jake was sitting on Jon’s. “Do you want to go to bed?” Jon asked him.
“I’m not tired.” Jake said followed by a big yawn.

Romeo had already dozed off on Melody’s lap.
“We should go.” Matt said, his youngest daughter had been sleeping for an hour in his lap while the other two were dozing in a chair. His wife picked up the youngest one so Matt could stand and wake up the two older ones.

“See you next week.” He said to his brothers and said goodbye to the rest.

After Matt had left Jon got up too and Melody followed him. They walked into the kitchen, going up another staircase to go upstairs.

The upstairs hallway seemed long with many doors. Jon opened a door and pointed to the one opposite of it with his free hand. “That’s Romeo’s.”

Melody opened the door to the room. Romeo woke up when the door fell closed behind them. “Huh?” he looked around confused only to realize he was in his room.

Melody put him down on his bed. “Do you have any pj’s?” She asked him.
“Dad packed a bag.” He answered sleepily.

Melody got up and walked across the hall.”Do you have pj’s for Romeo?” She asked Jon.

Jake had already changed and Jon was just saying good night to him.

He picked up the bag and walked with Melody back to Romeo’s room.

Moments later they were in the hall way again. “I’m glad I got to show you off to my family today.” Jon smiled, his arms around her, his hands resting at the small of her back.
“When do I get to show you off?” She smiled up at him, her arms at his back too.
“Tomorrow?” He asked hopeful. He was in New Jersey anyway. “You should stay the night and we could drive to your house in the morning.”
“I guess that works. Where is your room anyway?” She asked.

Jon walked her back to the staircase and opened the first door and let Melody walk in.

“What a nice room.” She said, using something else than wow.

The room had a big bed, a fire place in the corner and a terrace to look over the back yard and the river. The room was painted a light shade of brown while one wall was painted bright red. The sheets on the bed matched the colour and feeling the walls gave.

When Melody walked out to the doors that would open to the terrace, she could see all the people sitting in the back yard.

When she turned around Jon was lying on the bed. “Wanna join?” He grinned, patting the bed next to him.
She would love to join him. “People will wonder where we are.” Melody answered, walking closer to the bed.
“Then hurry up, they won’t notice.”

He grabbed her hand and pulled her on the bed, his hands immediately went under her dress, pulling down her panties he found her warm, wet and ready. He knew he was too. He undid his pants and wanted to sink right into her when Melody stopped him.
“Oh right.” He remembered and reached over to the night stand. He moved things around but couldn’t find anything.

Reaching to the other side he paused to kiss Melody, kissing her, sucking her lips, while his hand slid over her thigh as Melody wrapped it around his waist. She softly moaned when he let go to reach the other night stand. He rummaged around and was just as unsuccessful. “Fuck.” He swore as he got up and pulled his pants up to go check in the bathroom.

He returned empty handed.

“I’m sorry honey.” Melody sat up on the bed. “But we can’t risk it. I’m really sorry.”
“We shouldn’t.” He agreed. “Let’s get back out there.” He gave her a hand to get up. He started wondering, how long ago did she forget her pills? She’d tell him if she was late.

Outside more people had left and when they got back Jon’s parents were just about to leave too. “Don’t forget to phone us angel.” Carol said to Jon as they hugged goodbye.

Finally everyone had left and it was only the four of them.

“What time are you going to be here tomorrow to clean up?” Jon asked Dorothea when they got to the kitchen.
“I was planning to spend the night here with Ian.” She said.
Jon looked surprised and confused. “You can’t spend that night here with him.” He didn’t want to see Ian in the morning too.
“Why not? Ian has stayed here before.”
“Exactly why he can’t.” Jon was getting angry again.
“Come on Jon, I don’t want to drive to the city to drive back in the morning.” Dorothea said annoyed.

That only made Jon angrier, like he would want to do that. “Fine.” He growled and left the room.

Melody and Dorothea followed him.
“Where are you going?” Dorothea asked confused by his leaving.
“Getting the kids.”
“Why? They’re sleeping.”
“My kids, my weekend, if I’m leaving they’re going with me.”

Jesse walked in from the living room.

“What the fuck is going on?” He asked.
“Watch your language.” Dorothea scolded. “Your dad is leaving; he’s getting Jake and Romeo.” She answered her oldest son as she looked up the stairs.

Jon returned with Romeo on his arm and holding Jake’s hand and a travel bag over his shoulder. “Get your stuff Jess, we’re leaving.”
“Where are we going?” He asked.
“Home.” Jon said.

Jesse ran to the living room and was back in a minute.

Jon was already outside and Melody walked out with Jesse to the car. Melody didn’t know what to think. She understood Jon didn’t want to see Ian but would it be that bad to spend the night in the same house? It was big enough, they could stay at the other end. There was even a guest house in the garden.

Jon held the door for Melody and closed it carefully.

Dorothea and Ian were already standing by the door. Watching what was going on.

“Use one of the guest rooms, not my room!” He told them and got in the car.

He started the car and backed out of the big drive way, to the path that lead to the road.
“I’m sorry.” He sighed when he drove on the road and the gates closed behind them.

A little thank you

Once again, a little thank you to all.

But most specifically to my best friend.
For providing pics when I'm too lazy to look for them
and picking out names, when again, I'm too lazy.

Even though she won't read my story,
There's a thank you anyway.

And another thing:
Ever since I started posting this,
last October Kierrsten always commented on this.

Haven't seen a comment from her in a while,
so Kierrsten, if you're reading, give a sign of life.

Chapter 102

“Ready to go?” He asked when Melody opened the door.
“Yeah, let’s go.” She picked up her tiny black purse and closed the door behind her.

She was wearing the same red cocktail dress she had the week before on their date.

“You look beautiful.” Jon said as he held the door for Melody.

Jon drove onto the highway and half an hour later her pulled up his driveway. It was the first time Melody saw his Jersey house.
“Wow.” It was amazingly big and beautiful.
“We haven’t been here yet, have we?” He asked when he realized they hadn’t.
“I’ve seen it on the internet but wow, it’s amazing.”
“It’s nice.” He said.

Jon got out of the car to open the door for Melody before opening the back door to let out the two little ones.

Since he had met Melody he hadn’t stayed any more weekends with the kids here. The last time he was here, he had to find a replacement guitar player.

He hoped Dorothea had put away the Christmas tree by now.

Jon opened the big front door and told the boys to bring the bag upstairs. The house seemed empty or at least this part of did.

Melody looked around, the room was white, a staircase on the left that went up in a circle. On the left she could see the living room she had seen in an interview but Jon walked her to the right, passed a sitting room.

They could hear voices in the next room. Passed a bright dining room, they walked into a big kitchen. Wooden floors and wooden cabinets and counters.

Dorothea was standing in front of an open fridge, a man Melody didn’t know was sitting at the table.

“What’s he doing here?” Jon sounded angry Melody looked back at him instead of the man.
“Jon please.” Dorothea tried to calm him down.
“I never said he was allowed in my house.”
“Please, this is Steph’s day don’t make it difficult.” Dorothea tried again.
“Exactly, Steph’s day, he doesn’t need to be here.” Jon only got angrier.

The man got up from the table and walked over to Dorothea, squeezing her shoulders as he stood behind her.

“Come on Jon.” He said. “You brought your girlfriend too.”
Jon chuckled. “I didn’t bring her. Stephanie invited her.” He snarled.
“Believe it or not but I’m important to the kids now too.” The man said.

Melody still stood by the entrance but it was clear enough who the strange man was supposed to be.

“Yeah sure, that’s why I hear them complain about you.”
“Jon!” Dorothea couldn’t believe he said that.
“What? They do.” He said, surprised she didn’t know but why would they tell her that. “Did Stephanie even invite you?” He asked.
“Not exactly.” The man stammered.
“Didn’t think so.” Jon answered.

Melody didn’t want it to get worse, what if one of the kids walked in, and took Jon’s hand, pulling him outside with her.

Fresh air should do him good.

He took a deep breath. “I just really hate him.” He let out his breath with a sigh.
“I can see that.” Melody could guess why he did.

They hadn’t exactly talked about their divorces but she could put the pieces together.

“He doesn’t need to be here. He just thinks he can come in, ruin my family and them over from me.” He sounded just as angry as inside.
“Jon, they’re still your kids, nobody can change that.” Melody tried to tell him. “Let’s take a walk.” She looked over at the river, certainly the property was big enough for a walk.

He followed her and they walked by the water. Melody could see he was trying to calm down.

“So that’s…” She didn’t finish her sentence.
“Jup.” Jon answered shortly.

She could understand, if Robert had cheated on her she wouldn’t want to see the lady either. Melody didn’t asked him any more until they reached metal benches that looked over the river.

“It’s beautiful up here.” Melody regarded her surroundings.
“Yeah.” Jon said simply.

“He just wants to be there for the kids.” Melody said after a little while.
“He doesn’t need to be.” He answered short again.
“But he wants to be part of Dorothea’s life.” Melody tried to make him see.
“He doesn’t need to be there either.”

Melody’s face went blank with surprise. How could he say that? He had her now wasn’t that enough? Or did he wish he still had the perfect family.

Melody started to get up to leave; she didn’t want to see him right now.

He looked up when Melody stood up from the bench. He tried to take her hand but she pulled away and walked away from him.

Chapter 101

When Melody woke up she felt Jon was stroking her back.
“Morning.” He said when she opened her eyes
“Hi,” She smiled. “How did you sleep?”
“With you in my arms, I always sleep well.” His hand rested on her hip, his thumb tucked into the waistband of her shorts.
“I’m gonna miss waking up like this.” Jon said.
“Me too, maybe we should make it one to remember?” Melody suggested.
“I like the way you think.” Jon said while the rest of his hand went into her shorts, his shorts actually. The night before Melody had been cold and he got her a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. “Better than last night?” Jon asked, his hand pushed her legs apart to feel how wet she still was.
“I don’t even remember that.” Melody joked
“I really have to make this memberable then.” A long finger slid inside her and his thumb circled her clit.

Melody rolled to her back, Jon moved with her, getting a better angle to reach her.

They shared a passionate kiss making them wanting to be even closer together.

Melody reached her hands down to pull down the boxers she was wearing but Jon moved them away. He pulled back his hand and let it slide under her t-shirt, pushing it up as his hand reached higher to cover her breast. With his other hand he pulled her shirt up, baring her to him. He felt his own arousal rising as he bent over to kiss her lips.

Melody’s head fell back into the pillows when he nuzzled her neck, giving him a better reach. His soft kisses trailed over her neck to her chest to settle on her breast. Melody gasped when his warm breath covered her nipple and started sucking, making it hard. He licked away the wetness and gave her other breast the same treatment.

When he finished he continued his trail down to her belly, around her bellybutton until he reached the rim of her boxer shorts.

He tucked his thumbs in and looked up at Melody with a smile. Melody lifted her hips, hoping he’d hurry up, she didn’t want to wait.

Jon pulled down the shorts, over her legs, her feet and dropped it next to the bed on the floor. He started his trail at her bellybutton again.
“Jon.” Melody complained.

Jon chuckled, one to remember, so it was going to be slow. He kissed the dark triangle of hair before finding the treasure of his trail. She felt a soft kiss on her clit, barely noticeable. “Jon!” Melody complained again.
“Is it memberable yet?” He asked, kissing again.
“God yes, just…” She couldn’t believe how close she already was and why he wouldn’t just do it.

She moaned when he sucked. His tongue parted her lips and pushed between them, inside her. “You taste so good.” He mumbled, hardly understandable, he knew he’d miss that too.

Melody reached her hands into his hair, pushing him closer to her. He pulled his tongue back and back up to her clit.

He felt Melody was getting close and moved his head away even though she was holding him. Melody moaned when he moved away. “Why?” She was so close now.
“Be patient.” He simply said and kissed her softly.

Melody knew Jon would want some kind of release too, she could feel him hard and ready against her thigh but he continued to kiss her softly en gentle, making it passionate.

He nudged her legs apart with his knee, settling in between her without ending their kisses. He reached an arm to his night stand, finding a tiny foil package in the back. He leaned back and sheathed himself before reaching over to continue his tender kisses.

“Jon.” She almost begged for him now.
His hands moved under her shoulders, pushing her up a little as he finally slid inside her.
“Ooooh.” Melody moaned at the feeling of him filling her.
He rocked softly against her, taking it slow, he didn’t speed up and kept his soft and gentle thrusts.

Melody wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pulling him even closer than he already was; she kissed his shoulders and neck.

Jon felt Melody tighten around his dick already, she was getting close but so was he. His mind told him to speed up to get his release but he wanted the closeness, the feeling of Melody’s lips on his shoulders and neck as her fingers slid up and down his sides.
“Jon I’m gonna…” Melody moaned, he had already brought her close to an orgasm earlier now this wouldn’t take much longer.
“Go.” He whispered, taking capture of her lips again.

Melody’s orgasm washed over her, clenching around his dick, it set off Jon’s own orgasm. “Oh God.” They both gasped.

Jon dropped to lie down on top of her without withdrawing yet. “You okay?”
“That was so good.” Melody said, adding another kiss to his shoulder, she felt the tingly feeling all over her body.
“That was amazing.” Jon said. “Are you sure I’m not too heavy?”
Melody shook her head.
Jon was relieved, he couldn’t move right now anyway.
“I could stay like this forever.” Perfect peace.

That’s exactly what they did until Jon had to get ready. He slid his already limp dick from her, losing the closeness they had.

Melody had finally decided to go to Stephanie’s party. It wouldn’t start until 4pm so she was going home to arrange the last minute things for the party she was throwing the next day.
“I’ll pick you up on the way, okay?” Jon asked when they said goodbye by the elevator doors.
“See you in a few hours.” Melody said and reached up to kiss him.

Jon got busy getting the kids ready. It wasn’t easy to get them on their Sunday’s best with complaints like. “I don’t like this.” “It feels weird.” “My shirt is itchy.”

He had finally unpacked the bags from their trip to Hawaii and repacked one of the bags with t-shirts and other clothes for later and the next day. He didn’t want to drive back to the city after the party and planned to just stay the night in New Jersey with the kids.

Finally he got everyone in the car and they were off to the school.

At home Melody made a last minute trip to the store, getting some extra snacks and drinks. She felt so proud, her oldest son graduating and going to college. She almost couldn’t believe it, not only the changed he had made in a month but that he was 18 already and moving out.

It seemed only moments ago that she saw him for the first time. Next year Tyler would fallow and then Ryan. At least it would still take a few years before Faith would go anywhere.

It’s unbelievable how fast they all grew up. Why didn’t they just stay small? She wasn’t ready to let go of any of them yet.

What if she was pregnant right now? She had stopped taking her pills, shortening her cycle. Then it struck her, she stopped a week ago, she should have had her period by now. It couldn’t be, it must just be stress.

After she was sure she had everything in order for the next day Melody logged on to Facebook. Again she had a lot of friend requests and messages, people had found her a few weeks ago. She ignored the requests and deleted the messages that asked if it was true.

Then she saw pictures of Jon and her shopping last week. The day they had made entirely about themselves. She had no idea they had been spotted and felt uncomfortable with the invasion of her privacy.

She clicked on Jon’s profile to see if he had even been on there since they made his account. His wall looked empty and he only had 20 friends. She recognized Stephanie’s account and guessed the other name was Jesse’s.

She found Matt, Tony, David and Richie and sent them all requests too. Then she realized that if they accepted her, her friends would know too.

Time to change the settings she decided. She started deleting all the Bon Jovi friends she didn’t know and made everything private, in the end, she only had 60 friends, existing of family, colleagues and a few Bon Jovi friends.

When she went back to newsfeed she read. “Just said goodbye to my baby, can’t wait to see you in a few hours.” She clicked on comment. “I miss you too.”

He must have finally found out how it worked. At least she didn’t have to teach him how Skype worked. She was glad she could still see him like that next week when he wasn’t too busy and had some free time.

Melody was sure he figured it out when she read. “So proud, my girl graduating today.” Hopefully he’d do that next week too. She’d love to read some things while he was away and too busy to be on Skype.

Chapter 100

Jon woke up with a throbbing headache. He turned around to read the time, 9.15. Turning around again he saw Melody’s empty space. He wished she was there with him. He wanted to hug and hold her right now, he just felt like crap and she would make him feel better.

He closed his eyes again, hoping he could sleep some more.

A few minutes later he heard his bedroom door open, he looked over his shoulder to see who possible could be in his house, not that many people had a key. “Don’t you have to be at work?” Maybe he had read the clock wrong.

“No.” Melody said and walked over to sit on the side of the bed.  She gave him the cup of coffee she was holding. “I took the morning off.”

Jon sat up and took the cup of coffee and drank. His head was still hurting but the coffee made it slightly better. “Care to join me?” He padded the empty space in the bed next to him.
“Really?”
Jon chuckled and slightly flinched when it hurt his head. “No, I just want to hold you.”
Melody got in on the other side of the bed. “You’re not gonna be sick are you?”
Jon chuckled again. “No, I can hold my liquor, it wasn’t that bad.” He put his coffee cup on the night stand.
“Good, cause I hate that. I haven’t seen you drink that much, so I wouldn’t know.” She snuggled back into the sheets.
“I think everyone hates that.” Jon said as he scooted down and pulled her to him.

His hand moved under her t-shirt and gently stroked her back.

The room was perfectly quiet except for their breathing.

“You have to talk to Richie.” Melody said after a while.
“I know.” Jon sighed. “When my headache is gone.”

He stroked her back, closing his eyes, his fingers brushed over the waistband of her undies.

“I have to go to work.” Melody said.

They had finally made it out of bed and moved to the couch after having some brunch. Jon’s headache started to subside after he had some food and drinks.

“Can’t you take the afternoon off too?” He liked her taking care of him, even though she was just bringing him coffee and toast. The kisses she added, helped too.
“No, I’ll be on tour with you for two months and I won’t get paid as much then and I still have to pay bills, so I have to work now.” Melody explained. She might not be home for two months but she’d still have to pay all the payments, so she worked as much as she could now.

“Not if you just move in with me.” Jon said before he thought.
Melody was a little dumbstruck, did he say that? She shook her head to clear it. “Jon, I have four kids, you have four kids, where would they all go?” Not to mention the possibility of another one.
“The Jersey house.” He opted. He hadn’t meant to say it like that, but he liked the idea, he couldn’t deny that he hadn’t thought about it.
“Your kids would be too far from school and you can’t leave the state if Dorothea still lives in New York and I can’t leave New Jersey.” Melody would love it but it was too difficult with exes and children.

Jon sighed, she was right; it’s why Richie still lives in LA now. “See you after work then?” Jon asked, dropping the subject.
“Don’t you have Stephanie’s graduation party?” She was planning on going home after work tonight.
“No, Dorothea is doing it at the Jersey house. I gave her the keys yesterday. Don’t you need to plan J’s?” He asked her the same question.
“It’s on Sunday and all planned, it’s nothing fancy.” It would be simple, family mainly and some friends.
“I doubt Dorothea will keep it simple tomorrow. Steph will be the first to leave anyway.” He got up and walked her to the hall. “See you tonight.” He added a kiss.
“Phone Richie.”
“I will.”

After Melody left Jon sat back down in the living room, he held his phone and stared at it. With a sigh he pressed the call button.

“Miss me already?” He heard Richie’s voice on the other end.
“I do.” Jon said, he was going to be honest with him. “Rich, I’m worried-”
“I’m sorry I let you and everyone else down but-”
“Let me down?” Jon asked. “No Richie, I’m worried about you, I’m glad you’re getting help.”
“Why are you worried then? I’m getting help, I’ll be fine.” Richie said.
“You will?” Jon was still worried and couldn’t shake the idea of losing him.
“Yeah I will, it’ll be good and I’ll be fine in a month.”
“I really hope so.” Jon sighed.
“It will, you got the number of where I’m going and I’ll phone you.” Richie said again. “You’ll see I’ll be fine then.”
“But what if not?” He just couldn’t shake the idea, what if Richie didn’t come back and he’d be stuck with Phil?
“Fuck Jon. If I’m gonna be positive, you have to too. You gotta support me here, I need you with me.” He just needed Jon’s support, if he had that, he’d be fine.

Finally Jon realized that too. Richie always supported him, why couldn’t he do it for him now? Melody was right, he had to have faith everything would be ok.

“You’re right, you can do that, I can do this. You phone me any time you need me.” Jon felt a little more confident.
“I will.” Richie promised. “It didn’t take this long to convince Ava it’s a good thing.”
“I know, I’m twelve.”
“Yes you are, big cry baby. Now let’s talk happy stuff. How’s Steph’s grad going?” He asked.
Jon chuckled. “Yeah she’s not gonna be happy her uncle Richie won’t be there.” Jon started.

Jon and Richie talked for the better half of an hour before saying goodbye.

After their talk Jon felt a lot better and more confident about everything and before he knew it, it was time to get the kids from school.

“You don’t look as sunburned anymore.” Romeo said after he spent a while observing Jon’s arms.
“Thanks Romeo, how was your week?”
Romeo sat back in his seat and started talking about everything he had done which made the rest start talking too. Jon was glad his children had a good week their mum’s.

They ordered the pizzas for Friday night, pizza night early so they would be here when Melody got home.

Romeo and Jake were already complaining for food but didn’t want some toast either. Finally Jon gave up on offering them anything and ignored their questions. Melody would be home in half an hour, they would just have to wait.

As usual Stephanie and Jesse were in their rooms, they always had better things to do than spend time with their little brothers and dad.

When the pizzas arrived the two chatterheads started asking for food again. Jon checked his watch, Melody would be home in a few minutes and he told the boys to go set the table. At least that would keep them busy for a little while.

Just as they finished Melody walked into the Kitchen. Once again Jon gave the two boys a task, this time to get Steph and Jess.
“I’m so glad you’re home.” Jon hugged and kissed her. “These two have wanted dinner for two hours.”
Home, it sounded so good.

Only a minute later they all sat at the table.
“Are you coming tomorrow too?” Stephanie asked Melody while talking about her graduation.
“Me? Isn’t it a family kind of thing?” She asked surprised.
“No, I would like it if you could come and Jon, Tyler, Ryan and Faith.”
Melody was amazed. Stephanie wanted her and her kids there? And she had said Jon, not J. Melody looked at Jon questioningly.
“If Steph really wants you to come, why not?” He asked. Of course he’d like it, more prettiness to look at all afternoon and evening.
“Dad can pick you up when we drive to Jersey.” Stephanie said excited.
“Good idea.” Jon agreed.
Melody wasn’t sure yet, she’d like to be around Jon all day, she always wanted that but it was Stephanie’s party.
“Think about it.” Stephanie left the option open for Melody.

Chapter 99

“Are you sure you want to go to your mother’s house?” Melody asked when it was almost time they had to leave, Jon just looked so sad. Richie had done well by telling him a week early; imagine him having to playing tonight.
“Yes, no use in sulking around the house either.” He might not be the most pleasant person tonight, but he didn’t really care.

Melody got her things together and a few minutes later they left.

“Jonny, are you alright?” His mum asked when they walked in.
“I’m fine.” He said, he was getting annoyed with people asking if he was alright.
“It’s nice to see you again Melody. I’m glad you could come.”
“It’s nice to be here. Do you need any help in the kitchen?” Melody offered.
“No, dinner is almost ready, go watch tv with Jonny.”

Jon took Melody’s hand and pulled her with him to the living room. They were acknowledged by smiles but then the faces turned back to the tv. Jon sat down in one of the couches and pulled Melody next to him. He filled himself a glass of wine, asking if Melody wanted anything and they joined watching tv.

It didn’t take long before they heard Carol calling from the kitchen. “Dinner in a few minutes.”

Matt was the first to get up and go to the dining room.

Jon and Melody followed him a few minutes later.

The dining room was a bright room with two big windows. It had a china cabinet on one side and a table large enough for twelve.

Jon pointed out where Melody could sit and sat down in his own seat across of Matt, next to Melody.

“Doesn’t your mum need help bringing everything in?” Melody noticed some side dishes but nothing more than salad and veggies.
“No, she never wants any help.” Jon answered as him mum walked in with a big pan of spaghetti sauce.
“You don’t need to help sweetie but Jon will do the dishes later." Carol smiled as Jon’s head popped up in surprise from watching how good his dad’s spaghetti sauce looked.
“What?”
“You want to open a restaurant and call yourself the best looking dish washer, you start practicing.” Carol said as she walked back to the kitchen.
Matt and Melody both laughed.

“Do you want to be my towel girl?” Jon asked Melody; at least he wouldn’t be alone in the kitchen then.

During dinner Jon and his brothers talked about the tour next week. Things they still had to get in order and malfunctions they had to fix.

“Alright, enough about work.” Carol finally said.

The three men stopped talking and finally started their spaghetti.
As usual with silence Melody got uncomfortable. “This is really good spaghetti.”
John looked up to smile at Melody. “Thanks.” He had made it earlier in the afternoon so he could watch tv when the boys came over.
“I think it’s the best I’ve ever had.” Melody added to her compliment.
John laughed. “I’ve heard that a lot. Actually, if I had a penny for every time I heard that, I’d be rich.” He said proudly.
“Maybe that’s a good idea, you could really sell this.” Melody knew she would buy it and so many other people would too just because it was related to Jon.
“Maybe that isn’t a bad idea but it’s a family secret.”

Melody turned to Jon next to her. “Do you know the family secret?”
Jon slurped his spaghetti and finished his bite. “Yes, I can make spaghetti.” He said proudly and drank from his wine.

She’d definitely had to make him make spaghetti. Since she wasn’t part of the family she didn’t think John would share his secret with her. “You surprise me every day. I thought you couldn’t cook.” Melody said as she twirled her spaghetti around her fork.
Jon chuckled. “Just wait till my next surprise.”
“What is it?” Melody asked immediately, she was curious and wanted to know.
“And you say I’m bad with surprises.” Jon remembered he had asked her about his birthday present months ago. That had been fun to imagine but the reward was even better. He filled his glass with wine again.

After dinner Carol helped carrying all the dished to the kitchen so Jon could start washing them. Then she left to join the others in the living room.

Melody dried everything Jon handed to her and put everything in the cupboard he pointed out for her.

Melody thought it was so nice doing the dishes together, a simple and every day kind of thing.

Jon picked out a clean wine glass when he was done and opened a new bottle, taking both to the living room.

They sat down in the same couch again and he pulled Melody close to him. Carol started talking about Stephanie’s graduation this weekend and how she would be off to college soon.

Jon started thinking about how fast his kids had grown up, he could still remember the first time he held them, how tiny they all were. He wished they could have stayed that tiny just a little longer but he loved how they had grown into wonderful people. But the queen of hearts will always be a five-year-old princess to me.
He drank from his wine again.

When Carol was finally done talking about her oldest granddaughter she announced dessert. “There’s ice cream for dessert.”
Melody smiled widely.
Jon chuckled, he remembered how much she liked it and the joke he had made that night. “I need to talk to you.” Jon said as he got up.
Carol stopped on her way. “Are you sure you’re o-”
“I’m fine, I just need to ask something.” He made his way to the kitchen, carrying his almost empty again wine glass.

“So Melody, are you excited to join us next month?” Matt asked her.
“You’re going with them?” John asked surprised. “The whole two months?”
Melody nodded her answer.
“It’s such a busy life. We used to go in the 80s but now we just go when they’re in the area. They’re just so busy that they forget about the rest.
“Don’t scare her away dad, it’ll be fun.” Matt reassured Melody.
“It’s ok, I’m partly going for work too. I’m supposed to make a review of every hotel we stay at.” Melody said, she would keep herself busy too.
“That’s good.” John concluded.

Jon and Carol walked into the living room with bowls of ice cream on trays. Melody noticed Jon’s tray had a full glass of wine too. She counted it out, that made 8 glasses of wine.

Tony got up and retrieved a bottle of Baileys from the liquor cabinet behind the couch Jon and Melody were sitting.
“I want some of that.” Jon said as he watched Tony pour it over his ice cream.
Tony passed the bottle to Jon when he was finished with it.

Melody wasn’t the only one that noticed how much Jon was drinking. When he filled his glass again, Tony spoke up, “Jon, you-”
“I’m fine.” Jon cut him off.
Tony shook his head and left it alone, he know Jon wouldn’t listen.

It was getting late and Melody had to work in the morning. ‘We should go.” She told Jon, giving him a few more minutes, just indicating that they should go.
Jon finished his glass of wine, got up and stretched his legs. “We should go, it was very nice.” He said as he hugged his parents, Melody did the same.
“It was very nice to see you again.” She told Carol.
“I hope to see a lot more of you two once the tour is over.” Carol answered her.

Together Jon and Melody walked outside, down the two steps of the front porch. At the bottom Jon had to steady himself, reaching a hand to his forehead.
“Are you-”
“Don’t ask me if I’m okay.” He cut her off rudely.
Melody stood in front of him, glaring. “Car keys.” She demanded, if he couldn’t walk down two steps, he couldn’t drive.

Jon reluctant reached into his jeans pocked and handed the keys over.

Once Melody started driving Jon fell asleep in the passenger’s seat. She knew he wasn’t fine, he was worried about his best friend and scared for him, which made him scared for himself. The same thing Richie probably felt too but what could she do about it?

Melody woke him up when she parked the car. “Let’s get you to bed.” She said when he opened his eyes.
“I like that idea.” He said hoarse.
Melody chuckled. “To sleep.” She added.
“I don’t like that idea.” He answered as he got out of the car carefully.

When they made if to Jon’s bedroom, Melody turned to the bathroom and he fell to his back on the bed.

“I thought you were fine?” Melody asked when she walked in from the bath room and saw him lying on top of the covers.
“I am.” He mumbled.
“You drank 3 bottles of wine, you’re not fine.” She sat down on the bed next to him.
“You know me so well.” He mumbled again.

Melody moved to take his shoes and socks off. When she reached the button of his jeans, he grinned.
“I thought we were going to sleep?”
“Like you’re in any shape. Jeans aren’t comfy to sleep in.” She noticed that he, for once was wearing briefs.

Melody shed her own clothes, pulled the sheets from under him and got into bed. He pulled her close like he always did, wrapped his arms around her and closed his eyes.

A few minutes later, when Melody thought he was sleeping, he whispered. “I’m scared to do this on my own. What if he isn’t going to be ok?”
Melody looked up at him, seeing his eyes were still closed. Maybe he was sleeping after all. Then she saw a tear slip from his eye. “You have to believe and have faith that it will.” She whispered and kissed the tear away.

Chapter 98

Thursday morning Melody made Richie’s favorite breakfast, for a change, no pancakes. In the back of a cupboard she found a waffle iron. The box was all dusty and sticky but she picked it out anyway. Unpacking the machine it was still sticky from its previous use.

Melody was glad when she found a book with recipes in it too; leafing through it she found the page that described Belgian waffles. Usually Melody made frozen waffles and heats them in the toaster but it wasn’t the first time she was making waffles from scratch either.

20 minutes later she had whole stack of waffles on a plate. She put them on the table just as Richie walked in, Jon was already witting at the table, fork and knife ready to start eating.

“You made waffles?” Richie said cheerfully. “Yeah, I’ve read waffles are your favourite.” Melody said as she sat down in her own seat. “They are, thanks so much Melody.” He smiled and was honestly happy to have waffles. “No problem, all for you.” Melody smiled as Richie took two off the stack.

After breakfast it was time for Melody to go to work, at least she only had to work until 5 today.

When she returned to the kitchen after she had gotten dressed she gave Richie a big hug, not letting him go for a few minutes. “You’ll be ok.” She said, not making it a question, as she let him go. She was sure he’d be ok. “I will be.” Richie said confident. “I’ll see you in a month.” Melody nodded, in a month she’d be on the road with Jon and the whole band.

“I love you Richie, not just as a fan but as a friend too.” Melody told him. She hadn’t had much time with him but he was definitely a friend. “I love you too.” Melody hugged him again, then she left the kitchen with Jon right behind her.

“Are you ok sweety?” He asked by the elevator door. Melody nodded. “Of course I am.” Trying to convince herself, she felt bad for Richie and Jon. “He’s your best friend, are you alright?”

“Honestly?” He asked and sighed. “No, I don’t know if I can do this without him or him doing that alone. I want to be there for him but I can’t.” Jon confessed, he couldn’t directly support Richie as he would want to.

“Be there for him now and when he gets back home.” Melody said. She quickly glanced over at Jon’s wrist, grabbing it to read the time. “I have to go now.” She sighed. “I love you very much.” She said and reached up to kiss him.

Richie didn’t have to be at the airport until 1 but after Melody left Jon told him he wanted to go shopping before Richie had to go. He needed Richie’s opinion on some things.

Melody started work at 8 and stores wouldn’t be open until 9 or 10, so they still had a little while before they had to leave.

“Are you really sure you want to do this?” Richie asked as they walked into the store. “Absolutely.” Jon said. The store was empty so Jon walked right over to the register. He picked something out of his pocket and gave it to the clerk. “I need one of these.” He said.

The clerk nodded, took it from Jon and went to the backroom to find it.

“Don’t you think she’ll like it?” Jon asked.
“She loves you, so I’m sure she’ll like it.”
Jon smiled with Richie’s answer.

The clerk returned and gave both items back to Jon. Jon got his credit card out and paid for it. He looked at the result for a second, happy with it he put it in his pocket.

“I got one more store to go to.” Jon said as they left the store and walked down the street. He knew a perfect little place to get Melody exactly what she liked.

“How about this one?” He asked Richie, while pointing.
“I think that’ll be too small.” Richie answered him.
“Really?” Jon asked, it looked perfect to him, but maybe Richie was right anyway and he turned around to look at the rest of the store. He really should look at some other things first too.

Richie did the same and looked around too, even though he wasn’t shopping for anyone, it was still nice to look at and imagine.

They politely waved off the "Can I help you?" that was bound in every store until probably everyone of the staff had asked them.

Jon looked around for something a little bigger, looking at the tags. He was sure it wasn’t too small but he could look around and maybe find something even nicer.

“What about this one then?” Jon asked, calling Richie over to come and look. He liked it even better than the other one he had seen.
“That does look more like her size, I think she’d like it.” Richie agreed.
“That’s perfect.” Jon said, he checked the tag. He was sure Melody would love to wear it and show it off. He couldn’t wait to show her later.

They had lunch at one of their favourite New York City restaurants. After their shopping trip they still had about 2 hours left before Richie had to be at the airport.

His flight to Los Angeles would take off at 1.45pm. Only a week from now Jon would be at the airport with Melody, he hoped it wouldn’t feel as bad as this.

This felt like losing his best friend and he hated it.

They didn’t talk much while eating, they both didn’t like the idea of separation but they didn’t have a choice. At least it was only for a month.

At the airport Richie and Jon come to the end, this was it. Richie checked in and bought some things he could take on the plane.

Then they couldn’t put it off anymore, they had to say goodbye. At the gate they both sigh, knowing what one them was about to say.

“I’ll phone you whenever they let me.” Richie was the first to speak and break their silence.
Jon nodded. “You can still phone next week before you go.”
Richie smiled. “Of course I will.” Then he hugged Jon.

Jon wrapped his arms around his best friend and padded his back.

“See you in a month.” Jon said as they let each other go.
“Kick some ass.” Richie knew the shows would still be amazing, even without him.
“We always do.” Jon smiled.

Before Richie turned around they hugged again. They just couldn’t say the words and Jon watched him go, until he blended into the sea of people.

Jon sighed and turned around. “We always do,” He muttered to himself, “you and me.”

Chapter 97

The next day they were on the stage again. They discussed the songs they wanted to play this month, which songs would be used for encores and which songs they would add as surprised to the fans.

They played the songs again, with all the lights and screen effects with it and let Phil play the songs so Richie could correct him when he was wrong.

Phil fit to the group; he played good and was enthusiastic about playing with them.

Jon started to like him, a little surprised with himself but it was good he liked him.

When they wrapped it up in the afternoon Tony’s voice came over the loud speakers. “Jonny, mum just phoned and wants a family dinner before we leave next week.”
Jon looked up to the sound box. “I can’t, Melody is staying with me and she works till 8.” He said into the microphone.
“You tell mum that.”

Jon groaned, he knew his mum would find a way so he would have to go but he didn’t want to go without Melody either. Wasn’t Stephanie’s graduation party on Saturday good enough?

He got his iPhone out of his pocket as he walked off the stage and texted Melody to ask about it, it was 2 days before graduation day and Sunday Melody would go home again. He didn’t think it would work and he’d probably end up going by himself next week.

Jon and Richie got in the car and drove back home together. They still had a good part of the afternoon to spend.

When they got home Richie decided to fly home the next day so he could still see Ava before he left. He decided to check in next Thursday, 1 week from tomorrow.

If Jon was going to make it to family dinner it would be tomorrow or Friday with all the kids. His mum would probably like that even more. He texted Melody to ask if she could get tomorrow or Friday off early so they could go.

Melody read Jon’s text as soon as she received it, she wasn’t sure she could get off early. Not knowing if someone would still want to switch shifts with her. After checking the time she went into her boss’ office, she still had a few minutes of her break.

While Richie was ordering his plane ticket Jon went to his office to check some things for his listening session next week and write down the songs they had discussed earlier. He liked his new job for the white house, he could combine it with touring and he was still helping the community. While reading on his computer screen his iPhone beeped with a received message.

4.03pm: Lori wants to do my shift tomorrow if she gets backstage tickets <3

Jon laughed, but he’d do it.
4.04pm: When and where

Jon finished up on his reading, checked his email end went back to the living room, finding Richie watching a movie; Jon sat down in his usual spot on the couch. “Watcha watching?”
“I have no idea.” Richie said.
Jon laughed, “Ok then.” And watched with him.

Melody found them both in front of the tv when she got home from work, Jon’s home. “Ah some of my favorite men of which one is my very favorite.” She sighed as she sat down next to Jon and kissed him. “What are you watching?”
“We don’t know.” Jon said.
“But there’s nothing else on and the remote is so far away.” Richie complained.
“I didn’t know it was possible for you guys to be this lazy.”
“Hey, we worked this morning.” Jon defended himself and Richie.
“Very hard too.” Richie added and leaned back in his chair, pretending to be exhausted.
“You poor men.” Melody padded Jon’s head.
“I know.” Jon pouted. “Will you get us food now?”
Melody smiled at him sweetly. “I worked 12 hours, you can go get food for me, and pizza would be great.”
Jon kissed her. “For you.” He said and got up from the couch.

A few minutes later he was out of the door and Melody scooted over to his seat, closer to Richie. “What’s up?” She asked.
Richie looked over at her. “Watching tv.” He pointed at the bright screen.
“You know I don’t mean that. What’s between you and Jon?”
“There’s nothing between us.”
“I know there is, you both seem down.” She wasn’t going to give up, she knew Richie wasn’t going on tour and she wanted to know what was wrong. “We’re friends, you can trust me.”
“Ok then,” he moved in his seat, sat up and faced her, “I’m not going on this leg of the tour.”
“Why not?”

Richie sighed, he wasn’t sure it was because he didn’t want to tell her or if he was ashamed of himself. “I’m going to rehab next week.” He confessed. “I can’t do it on my own anymore and I need help.”
“Richie,” Melody looked him in the eye, “that’s a good thing; you don’t have to feel bad about it. You’re getting help, that’s good.”
“I don’t know, I feel like I’m disappointing Jon.”
“You’re not, he’s glad you’re getting the help you need. He’s got his other brothers to lean on too, he’ll be fine and so will you.”
“I guess so.” Richie sighed, he wasn’t sure, he was going to try his best and hope for the best.
“You got all the love and support of your friends.” Melody got up and hugged him. “Are you at least staying the rest of the week?”
Richie shook his head, “I’m going home tomorrow.”
“Then I don’t see you until we go to Europe.”
“You’re going to Europe?” Richie asked surprised.
“Yeah, didn’t Jon tell you? Two whole months on the road with you guys.”
“Maybe I’m lucky not going on tour now, Jon will be in such a better mood next month.”
“I’ll make sure he is.” Melody knew perfectly how to do that.

Chapter 96

The next morning Melody was up early, another 12 hour shift ahead of her. She was being held tightly by Jon which indicated he was awake. “What do you want for breakfast?” Melody whispered her question.
“You.” Jon answered hoarsely and nipped her shoulder.
“Even after a bad day like yesterday you have a one track mind.”
“Especially after a bad day like that.” Jon kissed the spot he had just bitten, then started kissing her neck.

Melody moaned, moving so he could reach her better. Jon’s rock hard morning erection was already eager to be relieved.

Melody rolled to her back as Jon’s hands snaked between her legs.

Jon groaned when he felt Melody’s wetness against his hand. He moved and braced his hands next to her shoulders and bent down to kiss her.

“Jon.” She moaned.
“Mmmmhmmm.” He kissed down to her neck.
“No Jon.” Melody tried again.
Jon looked up at her with surprise.” What?”
“Do you have condoms?” She asked
“What? Why? You’re on the pill.” He said confused, she had told him months ago, were they being unsafe the entire time?
“I am but I noticed I might have forgotten once or twice last week.” Melody confessed, she felt so stupid about it.
Jon sat down next to her. “You’re…”
Melody shook her head immediately. “It doesn’t go that fast but let’s not take the risk.” She had to convince herself too.

She’d only missed one or two days, but she still had a few days to go, so it was still safe, right?

Jon couldn’t believe it, could it be possible?

Melody sat up next to him. “Did I turn you off now?” She asked.
Jon leaned forward to kiss her and rolled her back to her back. “You couldn’t do that, impossible.” He smiled, his kisses trailing over her neck again.

Jon reached over to the nightstand on his side of the bed, pulled open the drawer and looked around for condoms, finally finding them in the back. He gave the square package to Melody.

Melody ripped it open, rubbing his length before sheathing him.

Jon groaned and groaned again when he entered her. Melody moaned as he started thrusting.

While thrusting his hips he bent down to kiss her breast before taking her nipple in his warm mouth, toying with it with his tongue.
Melody said his name when he sucked hard and quickened his tempo. She moaned as he thrusted faster until he emptied himself between her clenching walls with a groan.

Jon bent down to his elbows, pushing her up when his hands snaked under her shoulders. “Good breakfast.” He said before he sucked her bottom lip between his.

“What about some real breakfast?” Melody asked, even though she was closer to work, she still had to get up and go there.
“Pancakes?” Jon asked hopeful.
Melody chucked. “You always want pancakes.”

She gave him a last kiss before getting out of bed, putting on some jeans and a t-shirt and went to the kitchen.

Richie was already sitting at the dining table with a cup of coffee.
“Morning.” Melody greeted him. “Do you want pancakes for breakfast?”
“Sounds good.” Richie got up from his chair and followed her to the kitchen to sit on one of the high chairs.

Jon came in the kitchen freshly showered, hair wet and only wearing jogging pants.
“Aw man, cover up.” Richie shaded his eyes from the sight.
“Melody likes it, don’t you?” He asked looking over at Melody who was making pancakes.
“I love it.” She said and emptied her frying pan on a plate next to the fire.
“What are you making?” Jon asked, not seeing the usual pancakes.
“I’m making the ones like they do in Europe.”
“Crêpes?” Jon asked.
“Yeah.” She said as she put his plate in front of him.

After breakfast Melody went to Jon’s room to get ready for work. She hadn’t been able to talk to Richie during breakfast but hoped she could later tonight.

In the kitchen she gave Jon a kiss goodbye and hugged Richie before leaving.

Melody liked the fact she was so close to work when she was at Jon’s. She loved Woodbridge but had thought of moving to the city many times. With joint custody of the kids she couldn’t move outside the state without losing custody and of course she couldn’t do that.

She knew Robert could get a much better job in the city though. They had been offering it to him for years. She was sure they still wanted him but she was also sure he wouldn’t take it, because if he did Melody could move too and that would make her life a bit easier, so that wouldn’t happen. Robert knew she wanted to move to the city, they had talked about it many times.

After running into one of the suitcases when he said goodbye to Melody Jon finally decided to put them away. He’d unpack later.

Richie and Jon left around 9 to go to the concert hall where they were having rehearsals. They only had this week to rehearse. Next week Jon’d do the paper work, he would be off to New Orleans for the white house council and Friday they had a concert.

When they walked into the concert room Tico was already there, showing someone around the stage. That must be their replacement.

Phil introduced himself to Richie and Jon when they got up to the stage and David followed soon after.

“Alright, let’s get this started.” Jon said and looked across the room to the sound and lightening booth. “Tony, Obie, you ready up there?” He was surprised his mike was already on.

The lights went on and they started the first song, practicing the newest ones and the songs they rarely played.

After an hour they took a break. Richie told Phil some more about the riffs, solos and bridges while Jon went up to the sound booth.

“How do we sound?” He asked as he walked into the room.
“Pretty good.” Obie said. “Phil will catch up by tomorrow.”
Jon nodded, he was sure he would.
“How’s Richie?” Tony asked, looking away from the window that overlooked the stage.
Jon shrugged, hardly painful this time; Melody’s lotion must be working after all. “He seems alright. He always seems alright.”
“He hides it.” Tony said, he knew how important Richie was to his older brother.
“I’ll better go back out there.” Jon said while getting up.

Tony followed him out of the door. “What about you? Are you alright?” He asked.
Jon sighed. “I hate that he’s going but I know it’s better for him if he does.”
Tony nodded, he understood. “Don’t forget you still have Tico and David too.” Tony said.
This time Jon nodded.
“And Matt and me.” Tony said with a smile, Jon always referred to his band mates as his brothers but Tony and Matt were his brothers too, in a different way. “Now give your little brother a hug.” Tony said with his arms wide open.
Jon laughed. “You’re an idiot.” As he hugged his brother.
“Learned from the best.” He slapped Jon’s back before letting him go. “Now go sing some songs.” Tony said and went back in the room to manage the lights and screens.

Chapter 95

Jon was so relieved to see Melody sitting in his living room. She’d comfort him and make him feel better, like she always did.

“I got dinner, it’s Chinese.” Jon walked over to the living room and put the plastic bags on the coffee table.

He sat down on the couch next to Melody and passed the boxes around.

“Missed you.” He said while handing Melody her food.
“I missed you too.” She said and gave him a short kiss.

They watched tv as they ate and talked about the rehearsals they were having this week. Jon decided it was for Richie to tell Melody what he was doing, he was sure she’d end up asking him anyway.

After dinner they sat in silence again, watching the tv. It made Melody uneasy like silence always did. She was sure something happened between Jon and Richie but they obviously weren’t going to tell her. So she had to figure it out herself.

Melody started thinking of what could have happened. She was sure they didn’t have a fight, otherwise Richie wouldn’t be staying here and she couldn’t imagine them having a fight, they were too close for that. Maybe they had a disagreement about something. About what it was, she didn’t know.

When all the shows they usually watched at night were over Richie got up from his chair. “Well, I’m going to bed. We leave at 9 tomorrow?” He asked Jon.
“Yeah around 9.” Jon looked up at him.
“Alright, good night then.” Richie said.

Melody got up and went to follow Richie. “Where are you going?” Jon asked confused.
“Jake told me a secret about something downstairs, I’m gonna find out if Richie knows.”
“I don’t get to know?”
“You already know.” Melody said as she walked down the stairs.

Just as she hoped she found Richie in the downstairs kitchen, looking in the cupboards. “Richie, are you alright?” She asked as she rounded the counted.
“What? Yeah of course, why?”
“Because you and Jon hardly talked, seems like something’s wrong.” Melody opened the cupboard Richie had just closed.
“Nothing’s wrong, don’t worry. We’re both just tired and wanted to watch tv.” Richie shrugged and opened the next cupboard, finding what he needed.
Melody grabbed a bag of chocolate chip cookies out of the cupboard she had opened. “You’re sure?”
“Definitely.”
“Alright then, see you in the morning.” She gave Richie a hug before looking up to look into his eyes. “You can tell me when there’s something wrong.”
“Don’t worry.”

Melody took the bag of cookies upstairs and sat down next to Jon. She wasn’t giving up until she knew what was wrong, there was something wrong and she’d find out. Turning in her seat to face Jon, she asked him, “What’s going on?”
Jon tried to play innocent, “What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean. You both didn’t say a thing all night.” Melody said.
“We just didn’t have anything to say.” Jon tried to make an excuse, but his shrug gave it away.
“Jon, tell me, I know it’s bothering you.” Melody said with a sweet voice, trying to make him talk to her.
Jon sighed and looked away from her. “Richie isn’t going on tour.”

Melody understood the sadness that had been there all night now. They were brothers, they had done it all together, did it all together and now Richie wasn’t going to be there. “Aw baby, come here.” She said as she wrapped her arms around him.

She decided not to ask Jon but wondered why Richie didn’t tell her when she asked. Didn’t he trust her? Maybe he’d tell her later.

“It’ll be alright, you got Dave and Teek with you and your other brothers.”
“That’s not the same.” He complained. He hated to admit it but he sounded like a kid. He didn’t care, he’d miss his friend and he wanted a cookie now. Taking the bag off the coffee table, he dug in to grab some cookies.

“Come on Jon.” Melody encouraged him. “You can see the opportunities in this. You get to work with a new guitarist, the experience you’ll get out of it.” She thought she sounded so stupid, trying to make it better, it wouldn’t change a thing, Richie still wouldn’t be there but Jon nodded.

He thought she was right, it was a new experience. He could play music with someone new, learn something new. He could even get new fans out of this. When they played he could even dedicate songs to Richie, so he would still be there with them, sort of. With 4 of his brothers by his side, they’d be in it all together, while Richie would be alone. Richie could do it, he was sure of it and after that he’d have his best friend back so he had to stop sulking and support his brother, he was the one having a hard time.

“Yeah you’re right.” Jon smiled. “I’ll just have to phone you every time I feel down.”
“I promise to keep my phone with me as much as I can.” Melody took a cookie out of his hand. “I’m sure you can phone Richie too, they should let him have some contact with people, right?”

Tiny Question

I have some tiny questions for everyone that's reading this

1. Do you think my writing has improved?
I've been trying to make it better than it was in the beginning and I hope I succeeded in that.

2. What do you think of my English?
English is not my first language.

3. What do you think is missing from the story?

4. Does it need more detail?
I've been trying to add more but I'm not sure if it's enough yet.

I've always loved to write at school and secretly dreamed of publishing,
although I know I'm never gonna be that good,
that's why I'd like to know if it's actually any good.
