Chapter 82

The plane touched down on the tarmac, decreased speed and taxied to the gate. Finally back on the ground Melody felt relaxed again, safely on the ground.

About 2 hours ago they had woken up and the stewardess brought them breakfast. The plane ride took 5 hours of which they mostly slept.
“It’s 8 am and already it’s 65 degrees.” Eileen, their stewardess announced throughout the plane.
“Wow.” Melody said amazed how warm it already was.
“You’re gonna want that bikini anyway.” Jon teased.

Eileen opened the door and everyone walked down the stairs, while their bags were being unloaded too.

The weather was warm and humid. Luckily their bags were loaded into the waiting van fast and they could get inside the air-conditioned vehicle.
“So where exactly are we going?” Melody finally asked.
“To that house I rented for the week.” Jon said smartly.
“You’re not going to tell me, are you?”
Jon shook his head; he wanted to see the surprised look on Melody’s face when they arrived.

They drove on the highway by the coast and had an amazing view of the ocean, it seemed endless. They drove out of the city through small towns to open areas.
“Mom, there’s the Sea Life Park!” Faith said when they drove past it.
“Can we go there, dad?”Romeo asked when he saw the sign too.
“Not today.” Jon answered him. He was sure the kids would love it but they just came off a 5 hours flight, he’d take them later.
“Tomorrow?” Romeo asked excited.
“We’ll see, sometime this week.” Jon told him.

The sight of the park woke the kids up, talking about what the park would be like and what kind of animals they would have there.
“Are we there yet?” This time it was Jake that asked Jon a question.
Jon sighed. “Almost.” It was only a few more minutes, so he luckily didn’t have to hear that question too much.

They passed a sign that said how far the next few towns were. Melody wondered to which place they were going. “Where exactly are we going?” She asked him.
“Wai…,” Jon tried to remember the name as they drove through a small town. “Waimanalo.” He said slowly, hoping he pronounced it right. “We’re here.” He pointed out of the window to a big white house at the end of the street.

The van pulled up in the drive way of the house. Jon opened the door and gave Melody a hand helping her out. The driver opened the front door for them before getting the bags out of the trunk.

Melody waited a second before going inside as all the kids walked past them, inside the house. The house had a high front door and big windows. Melody was sure it was very bright inside. She could hear the waves hit the shore behind the house, the palm trees around the house, it was beautiful.

Jon loved her reaction, she was definitely amazed. “Like it?” He asked.
“Jon, it’s amazing.” Melody said. “Let’s go see the inside.” She said excited and walked through the great, glass door.

Her thoughts were right, it looked amazing and bright. There was an open kitchen to the left with a dining table big enough for at least 14 people. To the right there was a living room with ceiling high windows that showed the beach and the ocean.

Their bags were all left by the door. Jesse and J were in the living room, checking which tv channels they had and they could hear the other children upstairs. Melody looked up and noticed it was one big open space, she could see the walkway upstairs and doors opening and closing.

“This is unbelievable Jon, it’s beautiful.” Melody was impressed by the house, but wondered about one thing. “Where’s the master bedroom?” She asked.
Jon chuckled. “Come on.” He said and took her hand; he turned around and guided her to a door close by the entrance. He pushed the door open and walked inside the room.
Melody pulled Jon close to her, pushing her hips against his. “Can’t wait to get in that bed later.” Melody said huskily which made her go into a coughing fit.
“Yeah, real sexy baby.” Jon laughed.
“Shut up.” Melody swatted his ass which made Jon laugh even harder but he couldn’t wait to try out the bed either.

They left the master bedroom and went to check out the other rooms. They found another downstairs bedroom across the living room with 2 bunk beds. The walls were painted blue; even the bed sheets had an ocean theme. Jon told Melody his boys would love this room, it was definitely decorated to be a children room with the pictures on the wall and just about every Disney movie in a cabinet with a tv on it.

Upstairs they found 3 more bedrooms, all painted in white and with two single beds and their own bathrooms. When they ran into the two little boys Jon told them about the downstairs bedroom. The both ran off, looking for the room.

Back downstairs Jesse and J had found a tv channel to watch and still hadn’t moved. They could hear Jake and Romeo laughing and talking excitedly from their room. Melody was happy, Jon had picked out the perfect house for their week away. The house was beautiful and the kids were happy and she was with Jon, it was perfect.

Jon pulled the French doors open en lead Melody to the deck outside. The deck had a swing and a dining area with a barbecue. There was a grassy back yard with more palm trees, a swing set with a slide and a look out house. Jon had even thought of including that for the kids. At the end of the back yard there was a gate that lead to the beach behind it.

The back yard looked so peaceful; it was quiet except for the waves of the ocean. They sat down on the two person swing on the deck and enjoyed the view of the ocean in quiet, softly swinging.

“Mom!” They heard from the living room.
Melody sighed. “There goes the peace.”
Faith ran outside, looked around the deck and the yard before she saw them sitting. “Mom, can I sleep in Jake and Romeo their room? Did you see their room, it’s like the ocean and there are stuffed animals and bunk beds! Please mom, can I?” Faith said excited.
How could Melody refuse that? The room was very nicely decorated. “Sure you can, we’ll put your bag away later.”
With that Faith hugged her mum and ran back inside, letting the peaceful sounds of the waves come back.

Only to return with Romeo and Jake behind her a few minutes later. Melody had hoped their moment alone would return but there were the kids running to the play set.
“We’re not gonna get a minute of peace this week.” Jon said.
“Europe will be more peaceful.” Melody joked.

After a few minutes of watching the kids play, Melody excused herself to go to the bathroom. She got up and felt dizzy; she steadied herself before Jon would even notice. He didn’t say anything and Melody continued her way. She picked up her bag by the door and brought it to the master bedroom before using the en-suite bathroom there.

While washing her hands she looked in the mirror. She noticed she looked better than this morning. She didn't look as pale and she did feel a bit better. Must be the painkillers. Melody thought of the bed in the room next to her. If Jon didn’t believe she was better, they’d never try out that bed. Melody went back to the room, looked for her purse and took another painkiller. She still felt unwell when she took it but at least Jon hadn’t noticed. This way she could still test out the bed with him.

Melody went back outside and found Jon had joined the kids. He was sitting at the top of the slide with Romeo yelling at him to slide down so he could go. Melody laughed when she saw him sitting. Jon looked down as he heard her and slid down the slide and walked over to her and gave her a sweet kiss.
