Chapter 63

Melody liked Jon’s kitchen, drawing pictures of the kids and good report cards made her think of home where she did the same thing with her children their things.
She laid out all the ingredients on the extended kitchen counter so the kids could sit around it. With Stephanie her help she had put all the ingredients in separate bowls to make less of a mess and placed them on the counter.
“You guys coming?” She called out to the living room and 2 excited little boys ran into the kitchen where Stephanie and Melody were waiting for them. Jon and Jesse followed soon after. Jesse seemed least excited but Melody was sure he would turn around and eventually like it too, how could making your own pizza not be fun?
Melody explained to them what they were doing, they all had their own piece of dough and explained they had to use sauce on the bottom and cheese at the top to make everything stick together but other than that they could make their pizza the way they liked it.

She leaned against the counter watching them, Jon came to stand next to her.
“Do we get to make our own too?” He asked with a smile, it did seem fun and he wanted to too.
“I have more dough or a made one, I didn’t know what you would like.” Melody said.
“It’ll be fun.” Jon said happily. The kids were having fun so they could too.
Melody got the dough from the fridge and spread it out the counter.
The kids were done with the sauce so Jon took the bowl from them and spread it on his own pizza dough, dipping in a finger to taste it. “That’s good.” He dipped in his finger again and wanted to taste again but Melody took a hold of his wrist and licked the sauce off his finger.
“You’re right.” She smiled when she let go of his hand.
He looked at her with a grin. He turned away and put some of everything on his pizza, tasting bits of everything and tossing pieces of vegetables at Melody, laughing.
“I thought you were a grown up?” She asked when he had thrown another piece of ham at her. She picked a piece of tomato and threw it back at him.
“Sometimes.” He smiled; he topped his pizza off with cheese and looked at it. “Looks good to me.”
Melody had put the kids their pizza’s in the oven already, they were small and nicely fitted on two oven plates to bake.

Romeo and Jake were off to the living room again but Stephanie helped cleaning up and Jesse sat on the kitchen counter across of the oven, waiting for the pizzas to bake.
Melody smile to herself the kids were happy, they had done something they had fun doing. She was glad she had done something like that with them and had another to bond a little bit with them.

“They’re done.” Jesse said and jumped off the counter to open the oven when the oven timer ended.
“Oven mitts!” Jon yelled at him before he could reach into the oven.
Jesse turned around, smiled a foolish grin and took the oven mitts. He got the pizzas out and placed them on the counter. When the oven was empty, Stephanie put Jon and Melody their pizzas in the oven too.
The kids ate while Melody and Jon waited for their food. They all talked about their days, excited it was the last week before they had a week off of school. Jon told them they’d be leaving Sunday. Melody her kids still had school on Monday but they would just have to miss a day. As much as the kids tried Jon wouldn’t tell them where they were going.

After the kids were finished and had put their dishes away. Melody got out the two other pizzas and set them on the table when Jon left. The food is ready and he leaves? She wondered.

Just a few seconds later he was back with candles, Melody smiled when she saw him. How nice of him.
“Kids are the, we’re alone, so why not have candles?” Jon said as he placed them on the table and went to look for a lighter.
Pizza by candle light. She thought, that couldn’t be bad at all. He finally found a lighter in the drawer next to the stove and lighted the candles.
“30 minutes for us.” Jon said as he sat down.
“Only 30 minutes?” Melody asked.
“Yeah, the show Jake and Romeo are watching will be over in 30 minutes.”
Melody laughed.

But he was right and 30 minutes later Jake came back to the kitchen asking for dessert. Melody took the bag of cookies from the counter that she bought earlier and gave him a few. “Share.” She told him and he was off to the living room again.
“You hid cookies from me?” Jon asked her surprised.
“You wanted pizza first.” She answered smart and took the bag.
Jon shrugged and nodded, he did want pizza first.

With the bag in hand they went back to the living room and joined the boys. Stephanie and Jesse came back upstairs and sat down too. Jon took the remote from the coffee table and switched the channel.
“We were watching that!” Jake protested.
“What was it about?” He asked and kept looking for another channel.
Both Jake and Romeo couldn’t answer the question; they hadn’t really been paying attention to the program anyway.
Jon finally found a movie and put the remote back. He sat back in the couch and pulled Melody closer. Reaching for the bag of cookies she was still holding.
“Is that the only reason why I get to sit next to you?”
He swallowed his cookie. “Nope,” and gave her a kiss, “I keep you for kisses too.”
“Ieuw dad!” They heard from Jesse.
“What? You have a girlfriend, why do keep her?” He said like he didn’t know any better.
“Ieuw!!”
Jon laughed, loving how he could tease his kids.

The next morning Melody woke, rubbing sleep from her eyes, she felt Jon’s arms tightening around her. “Good morning.” She said as she turned around to face him.
His eyes opened and focused on her. “Good morning.” Pressing his lips onto hers, he softly kissed her. He stroked the hair from her face, over her back down to her bum, where he rested his hand. She looked so beautiful in the morning, without any make-up. Her hair was messy but it was still beautiful, he noticed she didn’t smell like coconuts anymore. I have to buy coconut soap and shampoo.

He had a lot more plans than just touching her ass but those plans disappeared when an 8 year old boy ran into his bedroom, he quickly pulled the covers over Melody.
“You have to knock Jake.” Jon said annoyed.
“But I had a mean dream.” Jake pouted.
“You can still knock. What did you dream?”
Jake thought for a second what he was going to say before he finally picked an answer. “I don’t remember.”
Jon sighed. “Then how do you know it was a bad dream?”
“Because I remembered when I woke up.” He said, getting a little bit annoyed himself because his dad didn’t understand it.
“Okay, but it’s gone now. Come here.” He held his arms out to hug Jake. Jake stepped into his arms and gave him a big hug back. “Melody will make you pancakes.”
