Chapter 14

The opening tunes to Last Man Standing started and Melody noticed everyone else was turned around, away from the stage. She heard Jon starting to sing; and quickly turned around too. She saw him standing on a platform in the middle of the audience. She loved how they always did something new every tour. Melody started singing along with the song. After the opening song Jon went to the stage and stood right in front of her and threw her a beautiful smile, she simply smiled back at him. She couldn’t believe how close she was to the stage, she had never been that close at a concert. She shook her head and thought straight for a second. She was closer than this to him just 10 minutes ago when they were still backstage. She thought of the kiss he had given her before she left. He really was a good kisser, just like she had expected. Someone that good looking had to be a good kisser too and not just a good kisser.

Melody sang along the whole concert. She was glad they played The More Things Change and sang even louder. She had to laugh when he started talking about the radio during the song. She noticed Jon looking at her while he was singing, she smiled back at him and did so every time they made eye contact during the show. They went into We Got It Going On so Jon would have something to shake his booty to like he said. Melody loved when he shook his ass, he maybe couldn’t dance but he could shake his ass. She loved the energy he had during this song. He walked over to a platform to sing to the people behind the stage and did some great moves.
When he started Lay Your Hands on Me he let Richie sing and left the stage. He had changed his shirt and went to the walkway behind the diamond ring and played Make a Memory. Richie joined him out on the walkway and they played I’ll Be There For You together. Melody loved it when they sang that song together. Afterwards David and Tico joined them too and they played another two songs. They walked back to the stage and Melody noticed Jon smiling at her.
After another few songs he took his maracas. Knowing the concert would be over soon, Melody felt sad. It didn’t stop her from singing and she noticed her throat started to hurt. Jon said good night after the song and they left the stage. The screams were almost deafening until they returned to do encores. Jon had changed shirts again, he wore a long sleeved shirt with a lighter t-shirt over it, and Melody loved his look.
They played 3 encore songs and made their final bow and left the stage. Jon turned around and flashed a smile before leaving the stage

When everybody started leaving, the same crew member came to get Melody and led her through the hallways backstage to Jon’s dressing room. She was glad he showed her the way, she would have gotten lost without him. He asked her about the show while they walked and she told him she had loved it. He knocked on the dressing room door for her and left her alone. Jon yelled the door was open and told her to come. Melody didn’t wait a second and went inside. She saw him sitting on the couch with his head laid back and eyes closed with a white towel around his neck. He was still wearing the same shirt and still looked hot in it. His shoes and socks were next to the coffee table, and he had has feet on the table. Melody quietly sat down next to him and let him relax for a few more minutes.
“That was awesome.” She finally said.
“Yeah, it was good.” He said, opening his eyes and looking at Melody.
“Oh and you look really hot in that shirt.” Melody told him.
“Oh really?”
“Yeah, the long sleeve, short sleeve. Amazing just like when you wear a shirt with a waistcoat.”
“Hey, you don’t know me.” He said jokingly.
“Right, forget what I said.” Melody said quickly.
“No, no, I’ll remember that.” He said putting his head back on the couch.
“I really did like the show, it was amazing.”Melody said.
Jon nodded and opened his eyes again. He moved closer to her, gently kissing her lips until she let him in and let their tongues dance. He pushed her back on the couch before remembering she had to leave early and he shouldn’t start anything he wouldn’t be able to finish.
“When did you have to leave?” He asked instead and sat back up.
“11.30, the latest.” Melody said. “Then I’m home around 1 and still get some sleep before 5.45.” She explained to him.
Jon checked his phone for the time and Melody could see he was sad she would have to leave soon. Seeing him like that, Melody felt she really had to make it up on his birthday next week.
“I’m sorry Jon. I should have checked sooner if I could get tomorrow off or if I could switch shifts with someone. I just didn’t think of it, I’m so forgetful lately.” She explained to him.
“Don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault, I could have told you earlier.” He said but it didn’t make Melody feel better, it was her own fault. She should have thought of it earlier and she knew it. Now she had ruined what could have been a great night for both of them.
“No, you told me three weeks ago. I didn’t know you before that so you couldn’t have. It’s my fault but I will make it up to you.” She promised.
“Really?” He asked surprised, wondering how she would make it up.
“Yes, you’ll get your birthday, Valentine’s and everything in one.” She explained to him.
“That sounds great.” Jon said honestly, he couldn’t wait for what she had in mind. “I still have to wait till next week then?”
Instead of saying anything, she pulled him closer again and kissed him deeply. “Yes, think you’ll survive until then?” She asked him jokingly.
“Not if you keep kissing me like that.” He said seriously.

Melody checked her phone. “I should probably go.” Jon let her go and stood up. He went to the hallway and asked someone to get Chris for him. Melody got up too and followed him to the door. She was ready to leave when she remembered her bags and asked Jon where he had put it. He pointed to where he had placed them and sat back down on the couch, putting his shoes on again. Melody took her bag and put it over her shoulder when someone knocked on the door. Jon yelled again that the door was open and Chris came inside. Jon packed his laptop and asked Chris to drive Melody back to the hotel as he and the rest of the band were still going out for to have a late dinner. He would have liked it if Melody could come along like he had planned, he could properly introduce her to his friends. It’ll just have to wait till tomorrow. Jon walked with Melody following Chris to the exit. Chris held the exit door open for them and walked to the car, opening the door for Melody. Jon kissed her goodbye and walked her closer to the door. He handed his laptop bag to Chris, telling him where to pick him up later. The exit door behind them slammed shut again and Richie walked towards them.
“Ready to go?” He asked Jon.
“Almost.”
“She’s not coming with us?” Richie asked confused. Earlier that week Jon had told him he’d be bringing a date.
“No, she has to work in the morning.” He explained to Richie.
“That sucks, was great meeting you though. Are you coming tomorrow too?”
“It was really great meeting you.” Melody said honestly. “I’ll be here tomorrow too.”
Richie nodded and walked over to his car letting them have a minute.
Jon gave Melody one last kiss and said good night. Melody got in the car and waved as Chris started driving. Jon waved back until the car turned the corner and went to Richie's car.
