Chapter 10

After hanging up with Jon, Melody started getting ready to meet her youngest sister at a restaurant in town. Around 7.30pm she got there and sat down at a table. Her sister wasn’t there yet so she decided to wait before looking over the menu. Melody and Samantha met once a month to catch up on things. But now they hadn’t had time since the holidays in December and it had been almost 2 months since they saw each other. Samantha lived about an hour away in Holland, close to the Pennsylvania border. Melody and her had always been very close even though Samantha was 10 years younger. She was always the sister Melody could get along with the best. About 15 minutes later Samantha arrived and sat down opposite of Melody.

“Sorry, there was some traffic.” Samantha apologized. It was always busy on the highway as it was one of the main ones that lead to the city. Their waiter came and asked if they had chosen. They quickly overlooked their menu’s and ordered their food.

“So what’s new?” Melody asked her younger sister.
“Not a lot, Logan didn’t want to go back to pre-school after the holidays, but he’s fine now.” Samantha said about her 4 year old son. “The last 3 weeks he’s been asking for a little brother though.” She explained.
“Really? Do you want another child?” Melody asked excited.
“Maybe,” Samantha shrugged. “Jason and I have been talking about it. We think it’s a good idea and a perfect time too. I don’t want a 15 year age difference between my kids like me and Daniel have. So now would be a perfect time for a second one.”
“Oh that would be great if you did! Another little one in the family would be lovely.” Melody said still excited. She loved being an aunty for her nieces and nephews and one more would be wonderful.
“Yes, it would be.” Samantha agreed. She waited to ask her sister how she was, she saw the waiter approaching and let him put their food and drinks on the table before she asked: “So what about you?”
“Nothing much, I started dating again.” Melody said taking a bite of meat so she wouldn’t have to answer immediately.
“Really? When?” Samantha asked a bit surprised. Melody hadn’t had a date in over a year.
“Almost 3 weeks, we met January 18th but he didn’t ask me out till the next week.”
“What’s he like? How does he look?” Samantha asked now excited.
“Oh he’s really nice. We met in Daniels cd store and he asked me out the third time he was in there.”
“What does he do?”
“He’s a singer. He’s got his own rock band and he’s the lead singer in it. They started touring again this week.”
“And what does he look like?” Samantha asked again, still excited for her sister.
“He’s got gorgeous blue eyes, like the ocean, so beautiful and he’s got dark blond, brownish hair. Oh and his smile! He’s got a beautiful smile.” Melody said, visualizing Jon and smiling.
“He does sound really great. Does he have a name too?”
“Jon.” Melody said still dreamily
Samantha thought for a minute and dropped her fork. “Jon?” She asked, putting all the pieces together.
“Yes.” Melody said plainly, still smiling.
“Bon Jovi?” Samantha asked wondering.
Melody just smiled, she still thought she was dreaming about dating him.
“No.” Samantha said. “That can’t be.”
“Yes Sammy, it’s him.” Melody said still unable to hide her smile.
“Unbelievable.”
“Yes, it is, but it’s true or I’ve been dreaming for 3 weeks.” Melody said happily.
“You know that’s possible too, let’s see if you’re not.” Samantha said and slapped her sister face playfully.
“Ouch!” Melody said joking.
“Oh cry baby, I hardly touched you and now we know you’re not dreaming.”
“Thanks.” Melody said sarcastically, it didn’t hurt but still.
Samantha took her last bite and put her fork on her plate. “You’re so lucky. I know you’ve been dreaming of it since you were 17 but I have been too when I was 16 and they had their new cd. I can’t believe how lucky you are. I’m very happy for you.”
“I know you dreamt that too, I raised you right.”
“Yeah, now I get to be jealous of you.” Samantha complained.
“Oh don’t worry, you’ll live.”

They ordered their desserts and talked about their work and kids before saying goodbye. They walked to their cars together. They gave a hug goodbye and they drove to their homes. Melody arrived home only a few minutes later, next time she would have to drive to her sister’s town. It was only 9pm so Jon would still be working. She decided to go on Facebook and catch up with some friends after tomorrow she wouldn’t have time anymore anyway. She logged on and started some chats. She had met great people on her, friends she’d known for a few years now. She was even meeting some of them at the concert in March. She thought for a second, now she was going to the concert with Jon. She’d be with him before and after it. How could she meet her friends then? They’d want to meet before the concert and go out afterwards. She’d have to talk to Jon about that when he phones later. Some people had posted pics from the first two concerts so she took some time looking at those and some videos. They looked great; as usual it seemed like a lot of fun.
Around 11pm he finally phoned, she answered her phone on the first ring, not able to wait to hear his voice.

“Hey.” He said, still sounding hoarse.
She wanted to hear his voice but not like this, she felt bad he was sick. “You still sound bad.”
“Not as bad as earlier and its better when I’m drinking tea.” He explained.
“But still not great, you should go to bed and have a good night’s sleep.”
“I must remind myself not to get sick. You’ll send me to bed every time.”
“I’m just worried; I want you to feel better. Besides beds are lots of funs.” She explained.
“Stop worrying then I’ll be fine in just a few days. And I wouldn’t know if they’re fun, I haven’t tried them out with you yet.” He laughed.
“Maybe that’s something we should do then when we see each other next time.” She teased back.
“Definitely!”

He told her about the concert and how it went, how much fun it was. He really had enjoyed himself, he had let Richie sing a song so he could have a short break and put clean clothes on. After telling about his evening he asked about hers, he asked about her sister and she told him about how happy she was for her. She didn’t tell him about the fact she knew exactly who he was; she still wanted to keep the play of not knowing him. That way she thought it would be more normal. They talked for about an hour and after a coughing fit from Jon, she sent him to bed. He promised he’d rest the next day, since they’d only been travelling to Toronto and have the day off.
They said their goodbyes and good nights before hanging up the phone.

Melody walked to her room and put her phone on her night stand, turning the alarm she had set earlier, off. She didn’t want to be woken up in the morning, she decided to sleep in again. The kids would be arriving in the evening and she didn’t really look forward to clean the house before they got there.
