It seemed like she had been waiting for an eternity when Jon finally came to the door. Melody heard someone’s card slide trough the lock and stood back up; she had sat down while she was waiting. She had all the candles on and the room looked perfect. She had tried not to move any of the soft silk rose petals that were on the bed. Jon walked in but just like Melody he stopped in his footsteps.

“I was going to do this for you.” He said, “I thought you were in your room. You took too long in the bathroom so I thought you had gone to change or something.” He explained.
“No, Richie gave me a key to your room so I could do this for your birthday.”

Jon remembered the door behind him and closed it, stepping closer to Melody. He took her face in his hands and leaned down to give her a soft kiss. “Thanks.” He said.

“I’m sorry; I ruined your surprise though.” Melody answered.

‘This is better.” He said softly as he kissed her lips again.

He tugged at the belt of her robe until it fell open and looked at what she had been hiding.
“That’s something red.” He said with a smile.
“Happy birthday.”

He kissed her again, moving to her neck and shoulders and pushing off the robe, letting it fall to the ground behind her.
