Chapter 18

Melody wasn’t even home for 10 minutes when she received a text; she was surprised it wasn’t from Jon but from Lori. She invited Melody to come over whenever she got home and had time. Melody texted her back telling her she would be over in an hour.

She went to shower and put clean clothes on first. About an hour later Melody walked through her back yard into Lori’s backyard and went into the house through the backdoor.
“Lori?” She asked when she walked into an empty kitchen.
“In here.” Melody heard coming from the living room and made her way through. Lori was watching TV with her youngest but sent him off playing as she turned off the TV. Melody sat down next to her and waited for the questions to come, she didn’t have to wait too long.
“How was it? Was it really great? What songs did they play? Oh did you get to meet the rest of the band?” Lori asked excited.
Melody had to laugh. “Of course it was amazing and I did get to meet the rest but not so much.”
“What do you mean, not so much? Oh never mind, too busy with Jon, were you?” Lori asked teasing.
“We hardly did anything.” Melody explained.
“Oh right. Wednesday will be fun then.” Lori stated.
“I have to go shopping for that tomorrow.”
“Don’t forget we’re going to the concert first, so make sure you don’t get any ideas before it.”
“Damn it, seriously, I can’t remember a thing. I didn’t tell Jon you were coming too.” Melody said.
“How could you forget me?” Lori asked feigning shock.
“He was sending someone to pick me up; I just forgot to mention you. I’ll tell him tonight when he phones.”
“Don’t get distracted by him this time.” Lori laughed.
Melody laughed and promised she would try.

Lori and Melody talked some more about the concerts and how Melody had introduced Jon to Facebook. Lori thought that was funny because Jon always said he couldn’t work with computers. Melody told her how Jon had set up his settings so Melody would be his girlfriend and how happy she was about that, of course Lori was happy for her too. Melody just hoped it meant he really thought of her like that.

Their talking was interrupted when Lori’s husband walked in and wanted to know if Melody was staying for supper so he could start preparing supper.. Melody had to decline; she still had a lot of house work which she couldn’t do tomorrow.

Melody went back home and turned her iPod on on the docking station and turned the volume up. She got out the vacuum cleaner and started dancing to the music while she cleaned. While she was dusting she heard another song than her iPod was playing. She looked around the living room before finally finding the missed call in the kitchen. She quickly phoned him back but his phone was busy. She hung up and tried again, again his phone was busy, she hung up again and waited for him to phone back, which he did as she was putting her phone back in her jeans pocket. She picked it back out and answered.
“Where were you? I just tried to phone you.” He said before she could say anything else.
“I know, I was rocking out, I mean cleaning. I missed your call but I tried to phone you back but your phone was busy.” She explained to him.
“I was trying to phone you. Anyway,” He paused, “what are you listening to? Can you turn it down a bit?”
“Feel My Heat.” She answered as she walked back to the living room to turn it down.
“I’d loved to.” He said teasingly.
“It’s the song title!” Melody said laughing. “Did you get to Washington ok?”
“Yeah we got here around 6.30.” Jon explained
“You flew this time then?”
“Of course, we’ll need the plane tomorrow too.” He explained “Anyway, I had to ask you something. You said you already had tickets for next week’s concert, were you going alone or with friends?” He asked
She couldn’t believe he had remembered and she hadn’t. “Yes, I forgot to tell you yesterday. I was going with Lori. We’ve been planning this for months; we even have a hotel booked.” She explained to him, so relieved he had asked.
“Ok then, 2 front row seats and an extra backstage pass. Is she coming to the after party too?”
“I can’t really send her back to the hotel room if I’m going to the party.” Melody explained.
“Great, I’ll be happy to meet her then.” He said.

Jon continued to tell her about his afternoon with the kids and the plans he had made with the kids during the week they were off with Easter, before he had to start another leg of the American tour. Melody was happy he would have the time with them. He had to laugh as he had planned to take her and her kids along too. Melody wasn’t sure because she hadn’t introduced him to her kids yet and he hadn’t either. They agreed they would have to meet with the children while he had a few days off in March. He had Wednesday till Tuesday off; they agreed they would find an evening they could meet that week.

He promised he would phone later if it didn’t get too late, him and the band were going out for supper, and hung up the phone. Melody put her phone away and turned the music back up. She always loved background music if she was busy with things; it was nicer than the complete silence in the house. She made herself a quick ready-made supper and settled for another night on Facebook. There was nothing on TV anyway and she wanted to talk to people about the concert.

She logged in and her account was updated to a relationship too. A lot of her friends had commented on the change and a few were very rude. Someone even thought she was crazy to think Jon Bon Jovi would ever have a relationship with her, later Melody decided to delete that person, others complained about fake profiles saying it wasn’t really Jon but someone posing to be him. Melody tried to ignore it all, she knew better but she couldn’t tell anyone. She updated her status saying she had 2 wonderful nights in New York. She commented on other people’s statuses until a chat popped up. It was the same friend that had asked something that morning too. Melody talked to her about the concerts she had went to and made up a story saying she had won tickets the day before the concert. It was an easy lie and it worked perfect. She talked with other people that had gone to concerts and they all had loved the shows too. They showed her more pictures of the night, Melody was glad they did, she hadn’t made any pictures but she had Jon in a better way than anybody else there had. One of the video’s she saw confirmed her thought. Jon really was singing In These Arms to her. All the comments on the video were about Jon looking to one person in the audience. Melody hadn’t noticed at the concert how much he kept looking at her, it was almost during the whole song.

Finally Melody logged off. As she got up from the chair she got a text. Are you still up? It read. She checked the time, 11.27. As usual she had lost track of time. She decided to phone him instead of sending him a text.
“I didn’t think you would still be up.” He said when he picked up. Melody wondered how he was always the one to say something first when they talked on the phone.
“I got stuck on Facebook, you know me, besides I’m an addict. I just couldn’t stop staring at your pictures.” Melody explained.
Jon laughed, “I can believe that.”
“Jon,” Melody said seriously now, “about that thing on Facebook. Do you really think I’m your girlfriend?”
“Yes I do, otherwise I wouldn’t have set it up like that. I really like you Melody.” He explained to her.
“I really like you too, boyfriend.”
“I’m glad you do, because I have no idea how to change that Facebook thingy.” Jon explained to her with a laugh.
