Chapter 31

Jon had arranged their seats differently so Tyler and Heaven wouldn’t be standing next to Melody, knowing Tyler would want to be alone with his date. Melody was glad he had, for the same reasons. She’d be by herself with Faith, she wasn’t very sure how Faith would like the concert, she had already said she was scared, so maybe the big venue full of screaming and singing people with a lot of loud noise would just make it worse.

The show started with Raise Your Hands, the whole crowd raising their hands when Jon said so. During Born to Be My Baby she looked over at Tyler to check everything was ok and she saw him holding his arms around Heaven. For a second she wished Jon could do the same.

After Richie sang Lay Your Hands on Me and Jon had returned to the stage he was wearing the long sleeved blue shirt with a black vest over it, just like Melody love. He started Bed of Roses, Diamond Ring, I’ll be There for You and Love for Sale. When they started playing the next song Melody couldn’t help but wonder if he had put all those songs on the set list for a reason, he knew her son was bringing his date, so if he had, it would have been very nice of him.

Melody had been glad Faith hadn’t started complaining but when she did during I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, she wasn’t surprised. She knew Faith was sensitive and didn’t like crowds and a lot of noise like this.
“Don’t you want to hear Keep the Faith then?” She asked her, hoping she would so they wouldn’t have to leave yet.
“No, I wanna go home.” Faith answered complaining.
“But it’s your favourite song, are you sure?”
Faith thought for a second and decided. “Can we go after it?” She asked hopeful.
“Yes, we will.” Melody promised.

They played 2 more songs before they played Keep the Faith. Melody asked Faith if she was happy she stayed anyway and Faith said she was, but still wanted to leave after it. Melody knew she would so didn’t try to change her mind. When the song was over Jon said goodnight and the band left the stage, with that Melody called to one of the crew members that had brought them there earlier and he let them go back.

By the time they were behind the stage, the band had gone back on stage and Melody decided to go back to Jon’s dressing room to wait for him. She was sure Tyler and Heaven would find their way back here by themselves. The only thing she hadn’t expected was the door to be locked. She asked around if anyone could open the door for her so she could wait for Jon but of course no one would open it for her. Melody thought encores couldn’t be that long and just decided to wait outside the room for him.
“Can’t we go home?” Faith asked her.
“No, we’re waiting for Jon so we can meet his friends too.” Melody explained.
“All his friends?” She asked.
“The ones that were on stage with him, it’ll only take an hour, maybe 2.”
“Okay then.”
“You’ll like it better next time and now you’ll get to meet everyone, so you’ll know them next time.” Melody encouraged her.
“Yeah.” Faith finally agreed.

One of the crew members hung around Melody, he wanted to open the doors to the dressing rooms before the band got there but wasn’t sure because he knew Melody wanted to go inside, so he had waited.

Melody hadn’t expected Jon was going to do 6 encores but was glad when she finally saw him walking towards them with everyone around him. He was still wearing his blue shirt and was very sweaty. When he wanted to open his door, it was still locked and looked around at who hadn’t opened it yet.
“You let them wait outside the whole time?” Jon yelled at him.
“I wasn’t sure if she was allowed in.” He apologized.
“She’s my girl friend!” Jon said.
“I didn’t know.” He apologized again.
“Just open the fucking door!” Jon said annoyed now.

The door was finally open and Jon went inside to get a clean shirt, pulling off his sweaty one, throwing it on the floor. He sat down in the couch, putting his feet up on the coffee table, exhausted. He reached for the massager so he could cool down his voice box and not sound hoarse when he noticed there was no tea. His room had been locked so no one had brought in any tea.
“I’ll get it for you.” Melody said as she got up to go.
“You don’t have to get it, it had to be here. Someone will bring it in a minute.” He said.
“Then I’ll just look where it is.” Melody said leaving the room. She asked the first person she saw who confirmed someone would bring it in a minute.

By the time Jon was all cooled down Tyler and his girl friend finally had made their way backstage and Jon asked if they wanted to meet the rest of the band. They agreed and Jon got everyone to his room, introducing each band member to Tyler, Heaven and Faith. Heaven was still excited to meet everyone in the band not believing how awesome it was she met Bon Jovi. She hadn’t been a fan but meeting the members of a legendary band was really cool. Faith sat in one of the couches while everyone talked, staying quiet, not saying much all night. She had said hello to everyone and Melody had let her be.

Melody felt Jon’s arms folding around her as she was watching the people in the room.
“I missed you during the encores.” He said close to her, Melody could feel the evening scruff.
“Faith wanted to leave; she didn’t like all the noise.” Melody explained.
“It must have been a long day for her.” Jon said soothingly. “I’ll just have to sing to you another time then.”

Richie and Tyler talked about school sports, Richie loved to hear how much had changed at his old high school. Too bad there weren’t any teachers anymore that he had had. It was nice talking about school again with someone, reminiscing about those years.

Melody noticed Faith had fallen asleep on the couch she was sitting in. She decided to let her sleep and asked Jon when Jimmy was picking them up. Jon explained to her Jimmy was somewhere around the venue and he could phone him to drive them home if she wanted to. Jon did as she asked and Jimmy showed up at the door to take them to the car, they said goodbye and good night to everyone before leaving. Melody told Tyler to be a nice big brother and carry Faith back to the limousine so she wouldn’t have to wake her up. Tyler did as he was asked and put Faith down in the car, after helping Heaven into the car he turned back around to Jon.
“Thanks a lot that was really great.” He said.
“You’re welcome. Make sure I don’t read about your mum and me in magazines next week.” Jon said.

When everyone was in the car Melody could finally give Jon a decent kiss, taking her time, putting her arms around his neck and kissing him deeply.
“I love you, see you tomorrow.” She said when she ended the kiss, still holding him around his neck.
“Love you too; I’ll pick you up around 7.” He said.

Melody let go of him and got in the car, Jon closed the door of the limousine and Jimmy started driving back to Woodbridge. Just like before Heaven still was very excited and couldn’t stop talking about the whole evening they’ve had.

I think Jon helped Tyler score some big points with his girlfriend. Faith's character is so adorable.
This was a great chapter. Can't wait to read more.
