Chapter 37

Jon woke early the next morning, Melody was still in his arms, and he pulled her closer.
“It’s 5.15.” He whispered.
“Then why are you waking me?” Melody asked sleepily.
“’Cause we have to leave at 6.”
“I’m sleeping, go without me.” Melody yawned and clutched the blankets closer. Melody loved to sleep when she didn’t have to get up and 5 am was just too early.

Jon chuckled as he thought of the irony of how he was tired yesterday, and gave Melody a kiss and carefully got out of bed. Melody was asleep again when he stood up and walked out of the door, past the closet and into the bathroom.

He turned on the hot water to take a shower and stepped in when the water was warm enough. He washed his hair and body quick and stepped back out. Took a towel from the rack and towelled down, putting it around his waist. He got out the hairdryer to dry his hair and used his hands to put it how he wanted it.

When he was finished he walked back to the walk in closet, taking out a pair of jeans and a shirt and getting dressed. He went to the living room cleaning up their clothes. He got his clothes and threw them on the chair next to his bed and put Melody’s on the chair on the other side.

It got closer to 6 when he looked at the clock and woke Melody up again.
“We have to go in 15 minutes, we’ll get breakfast on the way to the airport and you can sleep in the car.” He said quietly.
“I’ll need more motivation.” Melody said still sleepy.
Jon chuckled again but knew what she meant and gave her a kiss.
“I guess that’ll have to work.” Melody said and finally got up. She noticed her clothes on the chair next to her side of the bed and Jon waited for her to get dressed.
“Still no panties?” Melody asked.
“I didn’t look for them.” Jon said honestly.
Melody looked under the bed again, not seeing anything but some boxes. She finally gave up on it and guessed some house keeper would find it sooner or later.

They walked downstairs together and the car arrived just in time. The driver opened the door for them and they were off to La Guardia. It was only 6 am and not too busy on the street yet. Jon asked the driver to stop at McDonald’s so they could get some breakfast and Melody moved closer to Jon to lean against him. She noticed he wasn’t wearing a seat belt and told him he had to, she reached behind him and fastened it for him when he didn't listen to her.
“I don’t like seatbelts.” He complained.
“I don’t like you flying through the car.” Melody said sternly.

Jon didn’t say anything more and Melody leaned back against him, feeling his arm around her and closing her eyes again. When Jon ordered breakfast at the drive thru he hesitated to order for Melody. She noticed he hadn't order anything for her yet and quickly told him what she wanted.
“I thought you were sleeping.” Jon said.
Melody shook her head as an answer, trying to stay in the feeling between awake and asleep. The driver handed Jon the bags of food and went back onto to the highway.
“Are you gonna eat like that?” Jon asked.
Melody sat up, opened her eyes and took the food Jon was handing to her.

They had finished their breakfast by the time they arrived at the airport. The driver opened the door for them and they got out together, the driver handed Jon his bag from the trunk at sat back behind the wheel. They were in a no park zone so they had to hurry up.
“I’ll see you Thursday.” Melody said as she hugged Jon.
“Thursday? I thought Saturday?”
“No I got Thursday off and I still have that can of whipped cream, so I’m picking you up.” She said holding his hands and looking him in the eyes.
Jon smiled. “Perfect. We should use that whipped cream.”
“Phone me when you land.” Melody said.
“Of course.” Jon assured her and kissed her goodbye.

Melody watched Jon walk inside and got in the car again. She settled against the door and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep. She would arrive home around 7 and didn’t have to start work at the record store until 9.

“We’re here.” The driver said and Melody woke up right away. She looked around a bit confused and noticed he was right. She was home. He got out opening the door for her and Melody walked up to the door, looking for her key in her purse, finding it all the way at the bottom. She quickly opened the door, kicked her shoes off and went to her bedroom, setting her alarm for 8.30. She could easily sleep for another hour and another hour seemed great to her.

Jon’s singing on her alarm clock woke her up. The hour of sleep in the car and the extra hour in bed had helped and Melody felt more awake. She got out of bed and put on clean clothes, with panties this time. She found her phone in her purse and checked for messages, 2 missed calls and a text. You’re probably sleeping; phone me when you get up. She closed the text and phoned Jon back.

Jon had phoned Melody in the car, not sure she would go back to sleep or not. He still had to wait until 7 to get on the plane and nobody of the band was there yet. They all arrived ten minutes to 7 and Jon hadn’t thought to tell Melody when the plane took off.

Melody’s phone call went over to voice mail and realized his phone was turned off so he was probably already in the air. She kept her phone in her jeans pocket for when he would phone her back when he landed and continued getting ready.

A few minutes later she heard a car honk outside and she hurried to put her shoes on and walked outside, getting into her brother’s car.
“Good morning.” He said as she got in.
“I’m not sure yet about the good.” She said.
“Why not?”
“Jon woke me up at 5 to go to the airport, it’s too early.” Melody said, realizing she was still tired.
“Well I got good news for you for next week. If you want you can have the whole day off.” Daniel said with a smile.
“That’s great.” Melody agreed.

Ok, I'm a hypocrite for saying this, but Jon--wear the seatbelt. We've got to keep ya safe. I hate wearing them, but it's so necessary and a state law where I'm from.
