Chapter 43

The rest of the day went just fine according to Melody. Jake had come upstairs for breakfast and seemed alright. They had talked during breakfast and Jon had told them about spring break, not yet telling them he wanted to take a vacation with all of them. Jon’s kids were interested in Melody her children and Romeo thought they would have to meet them too. Melody promised him they would, sometime soon.

Melody went home just before lunch so she would still have time at home to clean up and get everything tidy before her own children got home again. Meeting Jon’s kids was fun but now she wanted to see her own.

She loved Romeo, his character and his reactions were just sweet, typical for a 6 year old, saying everything he thought of. In the morning she had doubted if Jake liked her but after breakfast her doubt was gone. He had been fine and hadn’t mentioned anything again. Maybe of all the kids, Jon should have asked him if it was ok for Melody to stay over. Melody thought the older 2 were typical teenagers; they had been polite to her and were friendly.

The rest of the afternoon Melody cleaned the house and did laundry, putting new sheets on all the beds in the house. When she was done with the rest of the house, she went out shopping for groceries and was home in time for the kids.

In the evening she phoned Jon and they talked about their weekend. Jon told her he had talked some more with the kids and they all were very happy to meet her and couldn’t wait to meet her kids too. They changed the subject to next Tuesday when Jon would come over to meet Melody’s kids. She reminded him she had the day off and he decided to come in the morning, so they would have some time together too. Melody hoped her kids would react just as good. Faith and Tyler had already met him so she didn’t worry about that. Jon wasn’t worried about it either, he already thought Tyler was a great kid and Faith was very sweet. He assumed the other two would be alike.

Monday Jon was on film set, his last day filming for New Year’s Eve, for now. He dropped the kids off at school before he drove to the set; he wouldn’t see them until the beginning of April, 17 days. He made sure he would look into something for the week off they had, while there was still time to book something. He would have to ask Melody what she would like to do. He couldn’t wait to have another break of touring, they’d be on the road again soon enough.

For Melody it was just another Monday like any other Monday, the busiest day at the hotel next to Friday. During lunch she talked to Lori telling her how good the weekend had been. She really had liked to meet the children and was happy she did even though she was nervous at first. She told Lori about them and what they were like, not forgetting how cute the two youngest were and how they all looked a lot like their father.

As every week when Melody her children were home, she quit work early. She would be home around 4, when everyone was already home. Knowing Jon was just a few houses down the street made her want to go see him. She couldn’t, she should go home. In the staff lounge Melody picked all her stuff together and got ready to leave, thinking again to go see him. She shook her head, she should go home. Melody continued to the car and put her bag in the trunk, when she got at the driver’s door; she changed her mind and left the parking lot.

When she got to Jon’s building, she pushed open the door and let it close behind her. On her way to the elevator the door man stopped her. Melody turned around a bit frustrated, he had let her go on last time, now he was going to stop her again? She gave him a frustrated look and waited to hear what he’d say, she wanted to see Jon now.
“Mister Bongiovi isn’t home.” He said, noticing she was annoyed, he said it carefully.
Melody sighed, damn it. She guessed he was still at the film said and thanked the doorman, walked back out and went home anyway.

Melody got home an hour later and prepared dinner, she wanted to phone Jon as soon as she got home but it was getting time for dinner. When most of it was done, she tried his cell phone. There was no answer and Melody decided to set the table first before trying again. She set the table for 5, put the food on the table and got her phone from the kitchen counter again. She dialled his number, which she knew by heart now and waited for him to pick up.
“Hey, I’m sorry, I missed you call, I just got in.” Jon started explaining to her.
“It’s alright, you’re busy. Are you home yet?” Melody wanted to know.
“No, just got coffee and got to my trailer.”
“Oh you got a trailer, movie star.” Melody joked.
“Very funny, I’m in a huge movie you know, be nice or I won’t take you the premiere.” He threatened but didn’t mean it.
Melody laughed. “You wouldn’t do that, you love me.”
“You got me.” Jon said and drank some of his coffee.
“When is it anyway?”
“Not until December, but at least I’m done filming now.” He said relieved, happy. He had agreed to do the movie without reading the script. Although he had said he wouldn’t act again after Pucked but it had been years and he thought it would be great. “It was fun though, until reshoots in September.”
“So just touring now?”
“Yes and planning that vacation. Where would you like to go?” He asked her. “St. Barth’s, Europe, Iceland?”
“I don’t have a passport, can you think of something closer?” Melody asked him a bit disappointed.
“You don’t? We have to get you one; you have to go to Europe with me in June, especially if you haven’t been there.”
“Really? Europe? That’s so amazing! Are you serious?” Melody said excited, she’d always wanted to go to Europe. Years ago she had hoped to go for her honey moon but that didn’t happen and the years after that she never had enough money to actually go.
Jon had to laugh when he heard her. “Of course I am. I’ll get someone to help you with getting a passport, otherwise it would take months.”

Melody thought it was great, she was so excited now, Europe, in June. This time she wrote a post it and put it on the fridge, writing down to take June off. It would be great to go and she would get to see a lot of countries this way, she only got more excited every minute. She’d be on tour with them, for a whole month, she realized. She would be with him for a whole month, every day. She definitely couldn’t wait. Except, she still had to think of a place to go to next month. She hadn’t really been much further than New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

She promised to let him know and think of some places by tomorrow so he could get started on the plans he wanted to make. After all it wouldn’t be easy to find a place for 10 people.

Jon asked her what time he should come over the next morning and Melody invited him over around 10 or 11, if he was up by then, she joked.

They said good night again and Jon promised to be there at 10. Melody hung up her phone and plugged it to the charger.
