Chapter 33

He opened the door for her again when they arrived at the restaurant.
“Oh I know this place.” Melody said, “It’s fancy.”
“It should be.” He answered as they walked away from the car and towards the restaurant. The outside door to the restaurant was open as they walked inside. Jon held the second door for Melody and led her through.

The host greeted them as they walked in and asked if they had made a reservation.
“Bongiovi, at 7.” Jon answered him, looking at the stand with the book on it.
The host wrote something in his book and took out two menus and brought them to a table in a corner in the back of the restaurant. He lit the candle in the centre of the table and told them a waiter would come right away to take their order.

Most of the starters were seafood so for Melody it was easy to just pick a salad. Jon couldn’t make his pick on the seafood. Everything sounded really nice to him until Melody told him to skip the seafood and he got bacon.

It being a steakhouse they decided to have steak not even looking at the rest. The waiter came when they had made their decision and Jon told him what they would be ordering along with a bottle of wine.

The wine and starters arrived first, Melody started picking at her salad.
“So do you leave tomorrow or Tuesday morning?” She asked him; finally she took a bite of her salad.
“You start with that? Our evening just started. I leave Tuesday morning.” He said.
“I’m sorry, it was just on my mind ‘cause I do have to work tomorrow.” Melody explained. She had almost forgotten about it because of the changed plans on the weekend.
“We won’t make it too late here then.” Jon said with a smile.
“We just got here and you’re already thinking about other things?” Melody joked.
“With you right there, how can I not?” Jon asked seriously, looking her in the eyes.
Melody loved his serious look and decided to play along. “You have to resist Jon, I know it’s hard but you’ll have to wait.” She said seriously too, looking him back into the eyes.
“Hard? It’s getting there.” He said.

Melody decided to check for herself, kicked her heels off and ran her foot up in between his legs. Jon almost jumped up not expecting her. She put her foot all the way up and Jon wouldn’t stop staring at her but his small smile encouraged her.
“Yeah, you’re right, you’ll get there in an hour or two.” Melody teased as she put her foot back down.
“Awe, you’re mean.” Jon said pushing his empty plate aside.

The waiter came to get their plates and brought out their steaks. Melody had picked out a small piece but Jon went for the pound, he made big eyes when the waiter put it in front of him.
“Hungry hon?” Melody asked him.
“Oh very.” He answered as he dug in.

Jon had finished his steak before Melody had and waited patiently.
“You sure can eat.” Melody said astonished.
“Yeah, I can.” Jon said proudly. “It’s why I have to go running.”
“Running?” Melody knew he worked out a lot but she still liked acting like she didn’t know a thing, she still hoped it would be more normal for him like that. “I don’t like exercise, I’m lazy.”
“It’s such a rush, feels really good afterwards.” He explained.
“No, I’m too lazy.” Melody stuck to what she said before. She didn’t like workouts, she would just see what she ate then she wouldn’t have to work out.
“I’ll get you to run.”
“No, you won’t.” Melody said certain.
“We’ll see.”
“No, we won’t.” Melody said still certain Jon wouldn’t be able to get her running, Jon started laughing at her stubbornness and Melody couldn’t help but join in.

The waiter came along again and took their plates again. He returned to ask for dessert but Jon told him they were full and he’d like the check. He came back with the bill and Jon gave him his credit card.

A few minutes later Jon was holding the door again for Melody and the door to the car was next.

Melody didn’t live very far from the steakhouse and were home only 10 minutes later. He parked the car in front of the house and Melody opened the door.
“No, you wait.” Jon said and Melody closed the door again. “I’m a gentleman you know.”
“Right, I forgot.” Melody said while Jon got out.
He walked around the car and opened the door for Melody.
“I can get out now?” Melody asked to be sure.
“Yes, now you can.” Jon said.

Melody waited at the front door for him to open it.
“Well? You gonna open that?” She asked him.
“I don’t have keys to your house.”
“Yet.” Melody said and opened the door.

She kicked off her shoes as soon as she walked in the door.
“I hate shoes, don’t wear them longer than I have too.”
“Really? Me too.” Jon said as he kicked of his own and followed Melody to the kitchen where she dropped her purse on the kitchen counter. “So what’s for dessert?” He asked.
“I got ice cream.” Melody said with a smile, ice cream was her favourite dessert, she could never resist it.
“I had something else in mind.” Jon said with his own smile.
“I know you did, but now I thought of ice cream and now I just have to.” Melody explained, she opened the freezer and got out a box and the can of whipped cream from the fridge. “But I got whipped cream too.” She said with a bigger smile.
“Ok, ice cream.” Jon said and took the can of whipped cream. “But let’s save this for later.” He added with a wink.

Melody got out two bowls and started scooping ice cream. She put back the box and took the bowls to the living room where she sat down and handed Jon his bowl as he sat down next to her.
“A weird ice cream thing?” He asked her when he took a bite.
“Yes, as soon someone says ice cream I want ice cream.”
“But I didn’t say ice cream.” Jon said.
“No, but you said dessert, which was close enough.” Melody explained to him.
“That’ll make you, you, I guess.” He concluded.
