Chapter 56

Sorry for the watermark

A little while later Melody and Jon were in the master bedroom, in Jon’s big empty bed, that wasn’t so empty right now.
“I’m glad you’re here.” Jon said with a smile and pulled her closer.
“I’m glad too; I couldn’t wait a week to see you.” Melody said close to his chest. “J says we’re living together.” She said looking up at him.
“Oh really? That’d be great though.”
“I thought you were annoying to be around.” Melody joked.
“Only on tour.” He said when he remembered what he had said.
She gently stroked the hair on his chest. “I don’t think you can be with me around.”
“We’ll have to wait and see.” He said and started caressing her breasts in return.
Melody moved up to kiss him and he kissed her back. He pushed her onto her back and leaned over to kiss her. Melody felt him kiss her neck and felt him find the spot in her neck that she loved. She shivered and Jon moved down, she could feel his warm breath cover her nipple. Gently sucking, he was still caressing it. His other hand disappeared between her legs; Melody opened her legs more so he could reach better. She felt two fingers slide inside her, rubbing the walls on the inside. He felt her get wetter and pulled his fingers out, he licked his fingers clean and wanted to move down but Melody stopped him. He sat back on his knees and Melody sat up to grab his dick. She held a firm hand him, gently rubbing the tip with her thumb. Jon closed his eyes in enjoyment, he knew he was already close and moved her back on the bed, laying her down against the pillows. He placed his hand next to her shoulders and entered her with a thrust. Melody felt his cock completely fill her. She started stroking his biceps, sitting up and moving her hands to his shoulders, tracing the freckles. Her orgasm was approaching fast, she felt herself tighten around his dick inside her. The contracting muscles around his dick made him shoot his release inside her.

Melody woke in the morning, Jon’s arms still tightly around her. She was lying against his chest and started trailing his chest hair again. The sun was peeking through the blinds but she wasn’t sure what time it was, she couldn’t turn around or she’d wake him. She continued stroking his chest, he stirred and Melody pulled her hand back, not wanting to wake him up.
“Is it morning?” He asked, he hated early morning and hoped it wasn’t as early as he had been getting up last week. He hadn’t minded, his early risings were rewarded.
“I can’t see the clock.”
Jon opened his eyes and read the clock, 7.15. “We should get up.” He kissed Melody and let her go.

A few minutes later Melody was making pancakes. There wasn’t much time for it but she was close enough to work to make it in time. Jon had woken the kids and came back upstairs sitting at the kitchen table. “Who asked, Jake or Romeo?”
“Romeo.” She said with a smile and gave him a plate with pancakes.
“Evil kid.” He said and started his breakfast.
Stephanie was the first one to make it upstairs and smiled when she saw the pancakes. They never had fresh pancakes; Jon couldn’t make them and bought the frozen ones. Stephanie hadn’t tried making them herself yet. The rest joined them in the kitchen and Melody made more pancakes. When Stephanie was done she stood next to Melody and watched how she did it. There wasn’t much cooking done at her dad’s house and her mum wouldn’t let her. Melody gave her the ladle; she let her try and sat down at the table.

Jon put away the dishes after breakfast and the kids went to get ready. It was time for Melody to go to work. She gave Jon a kiss and a big hug. “See you tonight.”
The kids were by the elevator door, putting on jackets and shoes, she each gave them a hug too and said goodbye.

After Melody left and the kids were ready Jon drove them to school. During the drive they talked about the weekend, again Romeo started about his birthday. Jon got to the parking of the lower school first and said goodbye to Romeo and Jake. Back in the car he asked Jesse and Stephanie about Melody. He knew Romeo and Jake were ok with it but Jesse and Stephanie were mostly in their room.
“She’s really nice and those pancakes were great.” Stephanie said. “At least she lets me try, mum never lets me.”
Jon knew Dorothea didn’t let her; she loved cooking too much and preferred doing it herself. He looked back in the rear view mirror. “What about you, what do you think?”
“She’s fun and she’s nice.” Jesse said.
Jon knew he wouldn’t say more than that but was fine with it. Jesse didn’t use much words but it was enough to express how he felt.

On Tuesday Melody had to get up earlier to drive back to New Jersey, she knew how much Jon didn’t like getting up early, she hated it herself and let him sleep. She got out of bed quietly and got dressed. She wrote a quick note for him and taped it on the coffee maker, he’d definitely see it there in case he started worrying.

Wednesday when Melody got home from work Jon hadn’t ordered any dinner yet. He had remembered the dinner they had to go to the next day and Melody still needed a dress. As soon as Melody got home he reminded her too and they were off to the city finding a dress for her. Jon knew some places to go but Melody insisted on going to the store she always got dresses when she needed something for a party. She hadn’t been there in a few years but she knew she would find something perfect there. Jon gave in and let her go to her store.

Melody was right when she pulled out a long black dress. She showed it to Jon, who had to think about it for a second, trying to imagine it on her. “Go try it on.” He said and followed her to the dressing rooms.
Melody pulled open the door to the room, it was big enough for two, it even had a comfy chair and she pulled Jon inside with her. Melody got undressed and put the dress on, turning around in front of the mirror, trying to see her back. The dress was tight around her upper body but went wider at her hips. It went down to her ankles and still showed her feet, she would need shoes to go with it. “So what do you think?” She asked him and turned around again.
“That’s gorgeous.” He said, he particularly liked that it had no straps or sleeves, she’d need another bra with it but it did look gorgeous. He knew he could tease her tomorrow, her shoulders bare, he knew she liked it and he knew how it would end up. “Can we go home now?” He asked with a rush.
“No, I still need shoes.” Melody answered innocently.
Jon grunted and stood up; he pulled her closer and held her hand to his pants.
She could feel him growing in his jeans. “Oh, well I still need shoes, but they have them here too.” She reached up to give him an apologetic kiss.
“Hurry or we’ll have to do it right here.”
“I don’t fancy the whole store hearing us.” Melody said flatly. Jon agreed, years ago he would have but he preferred a comfy bed now.

Melody found a pair of shoes that would go with her dress and Jon insisted on paying at the register. Melody still didn’t like it but didn’t want to be difficult now. Jon took her hand and the bag in his other hand and hurried home.

In the elevator he dropped the bag and started kissing her, he reached down to place his hand on her ass and pulled her closer to his groin. Melody didn’t wait a second either and unbuttoned his jeans, reaching in for his cock. The elevator doors opened and they stumbled into the room, Melody tripped over the bag with her dress and pulled Jon down with her. His jeans were already loose and she pulled them down, getting a better hold on his dick this time. He stopped her and pulled her pants down too. He entered her with a quick push and held the pace fast. After seeing her in that dress he couldn’t wait to take it off her. The rush made her climax approach fast and after only a few thrust he felt his own climax.

He rolled off of her and waited for his heart rate to go down before getting up.
“My knees hurt.” He stated.
Melody turned to her side and threw her leg over his. “My back hurts.”
“It wasn’t a competition but I have magic hands.” He said with a smile.
“I know you do.” She sat up complaining of her back.
Jon got up too and walked her to his room.

Chapter 55

After telling Jon what her day would be like while he was making breakfast for his kids Melody sat down in the living room where J was still watching tv alone. Melody usually let the kids make their own breakfast during the weekends.
“So I’m living together now? Doesn’t that involve living in the same house?” Melody asked.
“He was here all week and now you’re going there all week, is he coming back the week after that?” J asked back.
“I don’t know, maybe, would it be a problem if he did?”
“No of course not.”
“Are you sure? You didn’t seem to like him much when you first met him.” Melody said a bit more serious, she had seen him yelling that day.
“No really, after we talked, it really is fine.” J said consistent.
“What did he talk to you about then?” She asked interested, curious about what he might have said to her son that made him like him better.
J grunted and shifted uneasily in his seat, not sure if he should tell her. “He said if Lisa cheated on me like that, she didn’t really care for me.” He paused, not sure if he should go on to the next part Jon had said. “He said he had cheated on his wife years ago when they did really long tours but he always regretted it the second after he did it and told her.” Melody knew he had, he had said so in more than one interview. “But then his wife cheated on him and she wanted to leave him but he also said that didn’t matter because if she hadn’t he wouldn’t have found the perfect person for him,” He paused again, “you.” He smiled at her and Melody smiled back, happy to hear it. “Then he said I’d find that perfect person too.”
Melody threw her arm around him and pulled him close. “You’re 18, you will find someone. You’re hopefully still going to college in September, a lot of new people, you will find someone.”
“Yeah yeah, I know and I’m working on college. I got 2 A’s this week now that I can’t hang out with people anyway but they don’t talk to me anymore.”
“Good, you can still get that football scholarship then. Why aren’t they talking to you?” She tried to be optimistic for him.
“After we talked I realized its stupid to stay angry about something that happened years ago, so I let it go and everyone else wants to hold on to whatever they’re angry at so they don’t talk to me.”
“Friends want to you to feel happy, they should be happy for you.”
“I know that too.” He sat up when Melody finally let him go.

Jon’s morning hadn’t been that hard. He made breakfast and got everyone to the table so they could eat together. Romeo was still talking about his party and the presents he got. They talked about their weekend and Stephanie had to tell Romeo to be quiet a few times before he could spill anything. Jon did notice this time and started wondering what he wasn’t allowed to say.

After breakfast he watched cartoons with Jake and Romeo. The shows were usually completely pointless and made no sense, cartoons used to be better he thought. After an hour he got too annoyed with it and turned it to a news channel telling the boys they should go play.

Later that afternoon last minute homework was remembered at both houses. Melody and Jon both tried to help them finish it before dinner. Dinner would be earlier today for Melody so she could drive them to their dad’s and she could drive to the city and get there not too late an hour. She wanted to stop at the mall too to get something for Romeo’s birthday.

After an early dinner Melody drove the kids to the other end of the town. Robert still lived in Woodbridge too so the kids could stay at the school’s they’ve always gone to and could switch houses weekly. She gave them each a hug and a kiss, which was wiped away as soon as she gave it and said goodbye.

On her way back to the highway Melody stopped at a mall, she walked into a clothing store first and found the boys department. She hadn’t been shopping for boy’s clothes in years. There were a lot of t-shirts with pictures from tv shows and movies but she wasn’t sure which ones Romeo liked so decided to pass on those. A little bit further she was looking through the racks of clothing when she found a black t-shirt. It had a picture of an electric guitar in bright colour and it could even be played. She wanted to try it out when she noticed the small amplifier that could be attached to a belt had a tag that read batteries weren’t included. She looked through the sizes and asked the lady at the register to test it for to be sure. When it worked Melody let it be wrapped. She couldn’t just give him his gift without batteries so stopped at a store for those too.

An hour later she greeted the doorman and went up the elevator. When the doors opened to the kitchen, Jon turned around to the sound.
“Who’s the-” He started to ask, he wasn’t expecting anyone so hadn’t expected the elevator to open. “Oh” He got up from the couch and met her in the kitchen. “What are you doing here? Where are your kids?”
“I dropped them off at their dad’s. You stayed at my house for the week so now I’m staying at yours.” Melody explained.
“Really?” He sounded hopeful.
“Yes, all week.” She said lifting up her bag as proof.
He put his arms around her, giving her a big hug, and twirled her around. He set her back down on the ground and gave her a kiss.
The boys in the living room started laughing.
“It might be getting close to bed time.” Jon said without taking his eyes off of Melody. The boys immediately stopped laughing. “Come, I’ll put your bag away.” Jon said reaching for her bag.
Melody handed over her bag with clothes for the week, she held the bag that contained Romeo’s present.

Jon came back just a minute later and noticed Melody was already sitting with the boys, he took his spot in between them again and went back to watching tv with them.

When the tv show was over Melody announced she still had a present for Romeo. His face immediately brightened up with a big smile. Melody held out the bag for him and let him open it. He wasn’t careful to open it and tore the paper away but took the t-shirt out carefully. He looked at it and turned it around for the rest to see. “That’s cool, thanks Melody.” He said with a big smile.
“Put it on, see if it fits.” Jon encouraged him.
Romeo put on the shirt but looked around where to put the amplifier.
“Come here.” Melody said, he was standing in front of her and she pulled him a bit closer so she could reach him. She put in the batteries and hooked it to his jeans. “There you go.”

Jon picked Romeo up and put him across his lap. “Let’s see if I can play you.” He pushed the buttons on the strings and actual guitar noises came out. Jon turned up the amplifier and tried again. Romeo couldn’t stop laughing telling him it tickled, that only encouraged Jon and started tickling him. When Jake started laughing because Romeo was Jon didn’t leave him out and tickled him too.
Melody loved the sight of him playing with his kids, it looked so sweet, and she started smiling.
Jon noticed her smiling. “I think we left someone out." He started reaching for her.
“No, no, no, no.” But she was too late, Jon started tickling her ribs and Jake and Romeo climbed over the couch to reach her.

When Jake fell off the couch on his bum and started laughing even harder Jon thought it was enough and it was time for bed.

The boys didn’t complain and stopped their game. Melody followed Jon and them downstairs. She realized she hadn’t been downstairs yet. When she walked down the stairs she saw there was a big den with a lot of toys. There was a racetrack set up in the middle of the room. She didn’t get to explore the rest as the boys their bedrooms were to the left of the stairs. Each bedroom had its own bathroom with it.
Romeo was in his bed first, Jon gave him a hug and a kiss and wished him good night and left for Jake’s room, leaving Melody behind.
“Did I do a good job not telling dad?” Romeo asked.
“You did a really good job.” Melody said and gave him a hug.
“Does that mean I can have pancakes for breakfast?” Romeo smiled a big smile.
“You really do know how to get your way.” Melody saw his smile only get bigger. She wished him good night and found Jon in the next room saying good night to Jake. Melody gave him a hug too.
They passed by the other two bedrooms on their way back upstairs and wished the older two a good night too.

Chapter 54

The moment the elevator doors shut Jon felt lonely again. He liked her around and if he could he would have asked her to stay but he didn’t have enough space for 4 extra kids here. The New Jersey house would but right now he liked living in the city. He still had his kids until Monday morning when he brought them to school but after that he’d be all alone again, although his kids their companionship wasn’t the same as Melody’s.

That same night Melody still phoned Jon when she knew the youngest two would be in bed and they would both have time to talk. Melody sat down on her bed, the side where Jon had slept all week, she was sure the pillow would still smell like him and Jon answered the phone on the second ring.
“Hey babe,” he said, the same way he always did and gave Melody butterflies, “did you get home ok?” He wanted to tell her he missed her but felt too butch to do it.
“Yeah all fine, except I miss you. I liked having you around. It’s so different without you here.”
“I miss you too, but we’ll see each other soon enough, right?” He asked a bit hopeful, he knew she would be working longer hours this week.
“I don’t know I’m working all week.” She had to disappoint him, but not only him, she wanted to see him sooner too. “The week after that I have Tuesday off though.”
“That’s a whole week.” He leaned back in the couch he was sitting, 10 days were too long.
“We’ll make it work, we’ve done it before when you were on tour, we have phones and you should figure out how that webcam on your laptop works.”
“I know how it works.” He said a bit more hopeful, she was right, they could still see each other.
“You do?” Melody asked a bit surprised.
“Yeah, I have that Skype thing, I know how that works.” He explained to her.
“Great, we can do that then we can see each other.”
“Yeah we can.” He agreed with her and remembered something. “I have to go to an award dinner thingy Thursday, do you want to go with me?”
“A thingy? What kind of thingy is it?” Melody asked interested.
“It’s the Can Do Awards, do you want to go? I don’t want to go alone.”
“Is it formal?”
“I think so.”
“I can go shopping?” Melody asked excited, buying a dress for an event like that would be really nice, there’d probably be camera’s too. “Will there be press?” She asked a bit worried.
“Probably.” He wasn’t very sure but most likely there would be.
“Oh God.” She sounded even more worried.
“It’ll be fine; I’ll be there to hold your hand.” He tried to comfort her; he knew it wasn’t easy to have cameras in your face all of a sudden.

When Melody said goodbye to him and hung up, she couldn’t believe how stupid she had been, he lived a 2 minute walk from her work, she could just stay there the whole week, and she wouldn’t have to get up as early either. Luckily she had asked Stephanie and Jesse their cell phone numbers earlier, she could text them in the morning. She felt like she couldn’t just show up to surprise him, just in case they didn’t like the idea, she wouldn’t want to upset any of the kids and preferred asking them before just showing up like that.

Sunday morning started early for both Jon and Melody. Jon was woken by 2 little boys in the living room watching cartoons a bit too loud. The noise of the tv could be heard to his room. He grunted and turned around, why did those two always have to be up at 7 on weekends but on school days they wouldn’t get out of their beds. He pulled at his sheets and tried to close out the annoying noise of cartoons voices.

Melody woke up to the smell of burning toast; the kitchen was right next to her bedroom so the smell didn’t have to spread far. It wouldn’t be the first time someone forgot their toast so she got up to check it. When she got out from under the covers the room felt cold and she looked around for some warm sweatpants she could wear instead of the shorts that were next to her bed. She had worn them in the evening when she was still watching tv but usually took them off when she went to bed to sleep in panties and a t-shirt. When she got into the kitchen J just took the toast out of the toaster, examining it if it was still ok to eat.
“Don’t eat that.” Melody said to him, most of it was black.
“Alright.” He threw it in the trash can and started toasting two other pieces and went back to the living room.
“You might wanna stay here and watch it so it doesn’t burn again.” Melody told him when he did.
J turned around and walked back, “You’re right, good thinking mum.” and stood in front of the counter watching his toast.
Melody shook her head thinking he’s just slightly weird. She opened the fridge in search of food herself and found some yogurt.
“So is Jon coming over this week too?” J asked when she stood up again.
“No,” Melody paused, “I think I’m going over there for the week, it’s right next to work.” She said.
“Living together huh?” J took his toast and went to the living room and sat in front of the tv again.

Melody texted Stephanie and Jesse at the same time, asking them both if they would mind if she came over tonight and to ask Jake and Romeo too but not tell their dad. Almost immediately she got an answer from Stephanie Yeah, Great! Melody was a bit surprised by how happy it sounded but was sure she hadn’t asked the other ones and texted her back to ask if she did. She was still typing when her phone buzzed again. This time it was Jesse, Romeo says awesome, Jake says great and I don’t mind at all. She erased her message to Stephanie and phoned Robert instead to tell him she’d be bringing the children over at 6 so he didn’t have to pick them up. That way she could be in New York by 7, perfect. As every morning when they were both home Melody phoned Jon to talk to him before the day started.
Jon was still in bed when he picked up the phone. “Morning.”
“Good morning sweety, how did you sleep? Any nice dreams?”
“I had a really good one but the tv ruined it.” He said with a sigh.
“You slept on the couch?” Melody asked confused why he would do that.
“No silly, the boys are watching cartoons a bit too loud, I can hear it all the way to my room.”
“Wow, that is really loud.” It might be an apartment but it was big, there was a hallway and an office between the living room and the bedroom so the sound had to travel a long way.
“I know.” Jon said with a grunt, he wanted more sleep but was surely not getting it especially when there was a knock at his door followed by a little boy walking in. “Can you hold a second?”
“Sure.”
Jon held his phone down and waited. “Dad, I’m hungry.” Romeo said in a complaining voice.
“I’ll be there in a second.” He told him.
“Are you talking to Melody?” Romeo asked and Jon nodded. "Tell her I said hi and...” He stopped himself from saying something else and left the room.
Jon didn’t think twice of it and put the phone on loud speaker so he could get up and put some clothes on. “Romeo says hi.”
“How sweet, tell him I say hi back.”
“I will, so what’s today for you?”

Chapter 53

The rest of the week passed the same as the first two days had gone. Before work Melody and Jon made sweet, passionate love. Work seemed boring for Melody, all she wanted to do was go home and be with Jon, she was so glad he was there and she had gotten used to him there. While Melody worked Jon hung around the house, in the morning he went for runs, the park they had gone for walks was close by and great for running. The rest of the day he would work on his laptop until Melody her kids got home. They were all home an hour before she was and he had gotten to like spending some time with them. It was the same as with his kids, the usual help with homework, playing games and watching tv. By Thursday Ryan had finished his essay and Jon was glad he could help him with it. It was nice; he felt he grew closer to the kids but to Melody too. Actually being around her most of the day showed him what she really was like. She liked her mornings quiet, drove the kids to school and after work she made time to listen to them before dinner. She insisted on everyone being at the dinner table, no excuses. He liked that, he liked family time too and wouldn’t let his kids escape the dinner table either. She always went to say goodnight to her kids before they went to bed, adding that she loved them, reminded him of how he did the same thing every evening. He liked the little things he had learned about her, the coconut shampoo she used, brushing her hair twice in the morning, when she got up and before she left. He loved that she changed into shorts and a t-shirt in the evening, he loved her legs, and he couldn’t wait to see her in a bathing suit on their trip.

Friday Jon drove with Melody to the city and said goodbye by the hotel before going home. He got the rest of his mail from the doorman and threw it on the counter with the rest from last week. Downstairs in the laundry room he started his laundry, instructions on how to do it still on the wall. After Dorothea had left he had to do it himself, after ruining some clothes he had asked his mum how to do it and wrote it down, the piece of paper had been there ever since, the corners starting to curl up where there was no tape. He followed the instructions and started the machine and went back upstairs to go through the mail.

On Saturday morning Jon told his kids again they would be meeting Melody her children today. Romeo smartly asked if he would get an extra present then. Jon made sure they knew they had to be on their best behaviour and at least told them 5 times.

Melody parked her car around 10am and walked her kids to Jon’s apartment. She greeted the doorman and got into the elevator. Just before the elevator doors opened they heard shouting.
“Romeo, get dressed!” Jon yelled at him, followed by the doors opening. He turned around and smiled as Melody and the kids walked in, Romeo ran off downstairs.
“Procrastinator?” Melody asked him.
“The worst.” Jon said and gave her a short kiss to greet her.

He showed them to the living room where Jake was watching tv with Romeo but was now left alone. The room definitely looked a lot nicer, some of the curtains were still closed. On the cupboard were some birthday card that had obviously been sent to Jon's address instead of Dorothea's. Jake looked up from the tv and said hi. Jon introduced him to everyone and went downstairs to check on Romeo and get the other two. Melody tried to get some conversation going and was glad when Jon returned with Romeo and said the other two would be following. Romeo had no problem starting any conversation and started talking to everyone; he mentioned his birthday, the party and the show that was on tv. Jon had no idea where he got it from, he was nothing like that when he was little, he was a lot shyer when he was a little boy.

Stephanie and Jesse had finally come upstairs and joined the conversations. Soon Jesse, Tyler and J found their mutual interest in football, Stephanie was glad they liked football too, at least something she could have in common with most boys.

After lunch all of Romeo’s friends arrived and the teenagers had retreated downstairs hoping the kids would stay upstairs.
It got busy soon enough with 7 extra 6 and 7 year olds running around the apartment. They let them play until the noise got too much and Jon decided to let them watch a movie. Romeo picked out a dvd and handed it to his dad who put it in the dvd player and started it. Melody emptied some bags of popcorn in bowls and placed them on the coffee table along with juice boxes and soda cans. She settled on the couch with Jon and most of the kids sat on the floor. Faith had hung around Jake most of time and sat next to him during the movie.

Melody took a bowl of popcorn and moved closer to Jon, pulling her legs up next to her and her knees to him, she put the bowl down in her lap. Jon put his arm around Melody and pulled her closer. It was a animated Disney movie but they both still liked those kind movies.

After the movie they got all the kids together at table and let them sing happy birthday when Jon brought out a big birthday cake. He had to stop Romeo before he could make a mess with the frosting on the cake. All the kids had their cake and it was finally time for presents, Romeo’s favourite part of it all as he said.

At the end of the day they all had some great laughs. Melody and Jon hardly had any time to themselves but with 15 kids, 8 of their own and 7 little friends, around the house that wasn’t surprising. All of Romeo’s friends had left before dinner. They ordered some pizza’s and sat all together at the table. Melody and Jon wanted to make sure the kids would find enough stuff they had in common and get to know each other during this day because there probably wasn’t another opportunity until they went to Hawaii.

Jon told them all about the trip too, not yet telling them, they’d all have to share a room but told them about the island and the activities around the town. It was just a rented vacation house so it wasn’t on any private grounds. The way he told them about the island, made everyone dream away off it, private beach and a built in pool in the back yard sounded really great.

“It was great having you here today. I wouldn’t have survived that many kids by myself.” Jon said to Melody when they had a few minutes in the kitchen before she would have to leave again.
“Yet you can work a crowd of fifty thousand people.” She said.
“Ah but they come to hear me sing and shake my ass, these little people weren’t interested in that.”
“I would have loved it, especially the ass shaking but I’m sure the kids wouldn’t have minded a song either.” Melody said, swinging her arms around his neck and reaching up to kiss him.
“Mmmhhmm, sure you wouldn’t have minded.” He said when she let him go. “I’ll find your kids.”
Melody let him go and watched him walk out of the kitchen and when he added a little shake, she couldn’t stop laughing.

Chapter 52

The next morning Melody woke up to the feeling of a hand playing with her boobs and something poking her back. Jon was definitely awake already. She turned around and pushed him onto his back, climbing on top of him and guiding him inside. Burying him all the way inside her, she made circular movements with her hips. He reached back up to cover her boobs and Melody leaned forward for him to reach her better and he could thrust his hips up. He took a hold of her shoulders and flipped her to back, thrusting harder; he knew he was getting close. Melody leaned up to kiss him, he moved down to the spot in her neck he knew since yesterday would turn her on even more, getting there right with him. He made a last deep thrust and held still as he came. Melody felt his thumb on her bud, stroking her, he didn’t want to leave her behind and soon Melody felt her own orgasm wash over her.

After breakfast Melody made everyone their lunch while Jon disappeared into her bedroom, telling her he wanted to wish Romeo a happy birthday before rather than after school.
“Is Jon staying all week?” Ryan asked while he was cleaning the kitchen table.
“Unless you want him gone.” Melody said, as much as she wanted him around, she would understand if her kids weren’t ready for that.
“No, its fine, just wondering.”
Melody was glad; she really didn’t want to send him home.

When Ryan walked back into ask Melody if he could drive him to the movies on Saturday she had to disappoint him. She went on to him and the others, that had joined in from the living room, that they had to be home on Saturday because they were going to Jon’s house to meet his kids.
“Really?” Ryan sounded a bit annoyed.
“Yes, ‘cause we’re going to Hawaii during Easter so at least you’ll know each other.” Melody explained to them.
“Hawaii?” She heard twice, happier voices now, almost excited.
“Yes, now get going or you’ll miss the bus and I’ll be late at Uncle Daniel’s.”
They were already ready to go and said goodbye to their mum when Jon walked back into the kitchen they said goodbye to him too.

“Apparently I’m having a birthday party for Romeo Saturday.” He said when everyone left.
“You didn’t know that? Or did you forget?” Melody asked him a bit confused how he wouldn’t know a thing like that and sat down at the kitchen table with again where he was finishing his cup of coffee.
“No, he just talked me into it. He’s worse than Jake in getting his way.” Jon explained and drank from his coffee, it was getting colder but was still ok.
“But I just told them” Melody pointed to the front door “we’re going to your house on Saturday.” Melody said a little bit annoyed, not sure what would happen now.
“You were planning to stay all day, so you’ll be there before and after the party. The older ones can all be annoyed together and I’m sure Faith will have someone to play with.” He explained, trying to convince Melody and noticed it had worked when she nodded.
“Well, I have to go to work. Are you staying here or coming with me? My brother Daniel wants to meet you.”
“Coming.” Jon said happily, a record store was never a bad place to go to and maybe he’d find a present for Romeo while he was there and if not he’d still have something great to look at while he waited.

Jon held the door to the store for Melody and walked in after her. The store was still the same as last he was in there 2 months ago. A table with sales at the front; displays on the side of the walls and in the middle. In the back there was a section with dvd’s and games. Jon looked around the store while Melody went into the office.
“Jon?” Melody asked and Jon put the dvd he was holding back down and turned around. “This is my brother Daniel.”
“Hi, great to meet you, I’m a big fan.” Daniel said and shook Jon’s hand.
“No you’re not.” Melody interrupted, she knew she was right, he wasn’t a big fan, a fan, but not a big one.
“I own a record store; I’m a big fan of everyone.” He said to her.
“I’m sure you are.” Jon said before they could go on arguing.
“I’ll get some work done.” Melody said and left them.

“It really is awesome to meet you even though I’m not as big a fan as her but still… She’s really lucky to have found you.” Daniel said still amazed he was meeting Jon.
“I think I’m pretty lucky too.” Jon said and started asking Daniel about the games section. He knew Romeo had one of those game thingies but couldn’t remember until he described it and Daniel said it was a Nintendo DS and showed Jon the games, telling him which ones were new and popular. He finally picked out 3 games for him and met Melody at the register.
Melody scanned the games and put them in a bag. “How will you be paying, sir?” Melody asked him seriously.
“I could pay you with cash, credit, kisses and some things that just shouldn’t be said where there might be ears that shouldn’t hear it.”
“Those last two will just make it.” Melody said and leaned over the counter for a kiss.
Jon gave her a short kiss, keeping it decent in public. He took out his credit card to pay for the games.
“I was serious.” Melody said when she noticed.
“I can’t not pay for those games, Daniel wouldn’t like it.” Jon said and Melody gave in, letting him pay but using her employee’s discount. “Do you have to work all day?”
She remembered how Daniel had said he didn’t really need her in the store anymore and decided to go ask him. The new employee had been working there for two weeks now and Melody was sure she could manage on her own. Daniel agreed with her and let her go, she’d only done half an hour of work but was still glad she could leave and spend the day with Jon instead.

A while later they were at the parking, strolling around hand in hand. The weather was getting nicer now and the sun was almost shining warm enough to walk around without jackets, but not yet. Melody didn’t mind because she liked Jon’s black leather jacket, she liked the red accents on it and he just looked really good in it. They started talking about the area and Woodbridge itself. Jon told her where Richie used to live and Melody knew the place but never knew he had lived there. Richie didn’t have a house in New Jersey anymore and resided in California permanently. Talking about Richie reminded Jon about the conversation he had with him yesterday. Melody noticed his mood change and they walked to one of the benches, they had been walking for a while now and needed to sit down for a bit.

Jon told her what he thought of Richie’s drinking and how worried he was it was going wrong again and he’d have to get help. Melody pointed out to him rehab wasn’t a bad thing if that was the way he could be helped. He agreed but he couldn’t help him now, Richie was leaving for California the next day. He really hoped Heather kept an eye on him. Richie had always had problems with alcohol, in 2007 it was the only time he actually needed help quitting, but he always started again. Jon had hoped he wouldn’t but the events turned out different.

A colder breeze picked up and Melody shivered.
“Are you cold?” Jon asked worried. “We should go home.”
“I’m not cold.” Melody lied; she was starting to get cold but was sure a walk would warm her up again. “Let’s go for another round around the park.” She said and got up.
Jon put her arm through his so she would be closer to him and they walked around the park again.

Chapter 51

It was early morning when Jon woke, the sun wasn’t even up and there were no birds chirping, silence. Melody was still in his arms, he pulled her closer and kissed her neck.
“Are you up?” He asked quietly.
“Yeah, I think you’re very much up.”
“Do you think so?” His voice still low, it was so quiet, he liked the peacefulness of it.
Melody turned around to face him. “You were poking my back.” She said as she snuggled closer to kiss him and reached down to his dick. “Good morning.” She smiled as she started stroking his dick.

He pushed her on her back and slowly entered her. Making love softly, lovingly, they took their time. Melody pulled him close to her so he could reach deeper inside. He kept the pace slow, savouring the moment they had. She buried her face in his neck as he did to her. The soft thrusts he made didn’t stop either of their arousal and soon they both knew the peak was coming. She kissed his shoulders, tracing his shoulder blades with her hands, she could smell his scent. Not a scent of cologne, just of him. His thrusts quickened as his release approached, he buried his face deeper to her neck and found a sensitive spot. Melody felt her walls tightening around his dick only making his release approach even faster. He couldn’t put it off and shoot inside her, making Melody come with his release.
“I love you.” He sighed close to her ear before rolling off of her to pull her close again. He had the feeling he had to remind her of it.
Melody snuggled up close to him, “I love you too,” and kissed him.
“Do we have to get up yet? It’s 6.17.”
She shook her head against his chest. They still had some time to stay in bed.

Half an hour later Melody sat up. “Now we have to get up.” She caressed the hair on his chest before giving him a last kiss on his soft lips before getting up. They got dressed together and went to the kitchen where Melody put out bowls for cereal and started boiling water to make coffee.

Melody had to work today and Jon decided to stay home and do some work, he had his laptop with him so he could do whatever he needed to do. As usual Melody dropped everyone off at school and drove to the city.

“So how’s that boyfriend of yours? Did you figure it out?” Lori asked Melody when she finally had a chance to ask her something and have enough time to get an answer too.
Melody turned around to face her, leaning one hand on the desk. “Yes I did, I was just being stupid, as usual.”
“You’re not being stupid.” Lori interrupted.
“Yes I am, I’m like a 5 year old, it’s like he needs to remind me every few minutes or I might forget.” She explained.
“What’s wrong with that? It’s nice if he tells you, shows you he really does love you.”
“I guess so…” Melody said.

By afternoon Jon was bored, he had finished the work he had done and even did some things he had planned for the next day. He had decided on which place to go to in Hawaii and booked the house for a week. It was the week before he had to go back on tour; he’d still have a few days afterwards to get everything in order for that.

It was Romeo’s 7th birthday tomorrow, but he wouldn’t get to see him until Friday after school so he would have to find some time to find him a birthday present. He was glad he still had some time for finding something and he would phone him tomorrow after school. He picked up his phone and phoned Richie to see if he had anything to do; he was still in New Jersey for a few days before going home in California.
Richie finally picked up after a few rings and mumbled an answer.
“Did I wake you?” Jon asked, looking over at the clock, it was 2.40, he had thought Richie would be up by now.
“No, I was…” Richie didn’t finish his sentence.
“Are you alright?” Jon asked confused and worried at the same time.
“Yeah, perfect, top of the world.” Richie said happily.
“Have you been drinking?”
“Noooo…”
“Damn it Rich, you’re drunk.” Jon said annoyed, last time he knew why Richie was drinking, this time he had no idea.
“Nah, I’m not.”
“Fuck, you have to quit this or you’ll end up in rehab again.” Jon yelled at him, concerned about his best friend’s health. He didn’t want him to go back to rehab but if he kept this up… He wouldn’t have another choice.
“Why are you phoning?” Richie asked him confused.
“Never mind you’re too drunk to talk to.” Jon said and hung up.

He threw his phone on the counter and stormed to the living room. Plumping down on the couch closes to the doorway, elbows on his knees, face in his hands. He didn’t know what to do. Richie would be leaving Wednesday; he had to talk to him before he left. He shook his head in his hands, trying to forget his problems. He cared for his friend and needed to help him, when he thought of California, he knew it. Jon got up to get his phone again and sat down on the couch again. He searched in his contact list for Heather’s number; she’d see Richie this week. He explained to her what Richie was doing and expressed how worried he was about him. Heather understood him and got worried too, Richie was her ex but she still cared for him. She promised Jon to keep an eye on him when he got home.

He threw his phone on the coffee table and wondered how it hadn’t broke yet, all the frustrated throwing he did with it. He sat back in the couch and rested his head on the back when he heard the front door open.
“Hey.” Ryan said when he noticed Jon on the couch. He was always home first; his school was out 20 minutes before his brother’s and he beat them home every day.
“Hey.” Jon answered him. “How was your day?” His mood had lightened just a bit.
“Was fine, can I ask your help for an essay?”
“Sure, what are you writing about?” Jon felt glad Ryan thought he could help him.
“We have to write about a charity and how they’re helping the community. Any ideas?” Ryan asked him.
“Yeah of course.” Jon said and started telling him about the Soul Foundation and what they were doing for the community.
Ryan listened to what Jon was telling him and Jon really felt appreciated, just like when he was helping out his own kids.

Jon was alone in the living room again when Melody got home, everyone had left to their rooms.
“Honey I’m home!” Melody called to the living room when she walked inside.
Jon jumped up from the couch and met her in the hall. “Missed you honey.” He said and gave her a welcome home kiss.

He asked her about her day at work and followed her to the kitchen as she told him all about it. She was glad he was there, just like she wanted. Right there with her, she had him all to herself.

Chapter 50

Jon picked up his t-shirts outside the room and asked her again. Melody still liked the idea of him shirtless but picked the black one. She was glad with her choice when he put it on, the sleeves tight around his biceps. She couldn’t believe how he good he looked in everything or with nothing.
He took out another travelling bag, this one smaller but the same as the one by the stairs, like they were part of a set. He threw in a pair of jeans and some shirts.
“How long are you going for?” Melody asked him when she noticed he was packing for longer than one night.
“Until you kick me out.” He answered smart.
“I’d never kick you out.” Melody said with a big smile. She’d have him right there with her all week, before and after work she reminded herself but it didn’t bother her, it was still as much as she could see him.

Jon finished packing and started unpacking his other bag. Melody waited for him in the living room where she noticed he had decorated. It did look cosier and she hoped it felt so for him too but he hadn’t really been home since they went shopping. He had put the candle holders on the long cupboard at the side of the room, next so some picture frames. The other wall was made off close so there was nothing in front of that. The flowers were in the middle of the dining table. She just didn’t notice the silver picture frame until he walked back up the stairs, holding it. For a second her thoughts from that morning returned but they disappeared when he placed the frame next to one of him and his kids. Again she felt relieved and tried to ban those thoughts from her mind, she wanted to trust him.

They changed his apartment for her house and were there about an hour later. Just like last time Jon kicked his shoes off just like he was at home. He dropped his bag in Melody’s room and found her in the kitchen making coffee.
“You used my favourite mug.” Jon said when he saw the mug with a picture from a photo shoot in 2005 when they were promoting their album. He took the mug from her and followed her to the living room.

They spent the afternoon together watching tv shows when they found anything interesting on the tv. During the boring parts they talked about the tour. Melody was glad he had fun but was still happier she had him all to herself now.
“But now I’m all yours.” Jon said like he knew what she was thinking
“No sharing.” Melody said with an even bigger smile.
“I have to share you though.” He said, Melody looked at him confused wondering what he meant with that. “You’re working; your kids are coming in a few hours.” Melody’s face lit up as she remembered.
“It’s really good I got you to think for me. You make my brain go all mushy.” She explained to him and added a laugh.
He watched her laughing and it brought a smile to his face, he couldn’t help but noticing how beautiful she looked laughing. “You’re beautiful, I love you.” He said.
Melody stopped laughing and looked at him. “Where did that come from?”
He shrugged. “Just what I was thinking but it’s the truth.”
She smiled at him. “Good cause I think the same about you.”
“Awe you think I’m pretty?” He teased her.
“Pretty annoying at times.” She teased him right back and he pouted, she couldn’t resist his face and grabbed his chin to pull him closer so she could kiss him. “You’re too cute to be annoying.” She said, still close to his lips.
“Just wait until you’re on tour with me.” He said like he was proud of just how annoying he could be and kissed her again, this time more urgent.

She parted his lips, slowly sliding in her tongue inside his mouth, rubbing against his tongue as he kissed her. He moved his sitting position, pushing her back on the couch, sitting down next to her and leaning over her. He forced the top buttons of her blouse open and reached into her bra. She felt his hand covering her breast and her nipple stiffened in reaction. His lips moved away from her mouth, when he found the spot between her neck and shoulder her head fell back into the pillows.

She felt his opening the button on her jeans and finger sliding inside and back out, gently rubbing over her clit. Her head still in the pillows, she’d lean back further if she could. Jon slid his finger back inside, not wanting her to reach her peak yet. Melody lifted her hips so he could reach easier. She needed him closer to her and pulled at his shirt until he finally sat up and pulled it off. He reached down again to kiss her, moving her pants as far down as he could with his other hand. He growled when they wouldn’t and let her lips go, he pulled down her pants, letting them drop to the floor.

Melody reached for his pants before he could move back and opened it, reaching inside. She took a hold of his shaft, gently stroking the top with her thumb.
“Fuck Mel.” He sighed.
She let him go and pulled his pants down to his knees. As she lay down she felt him inside her and almost back out. He made long strokes, keeping off his orgasm. Melody tried to keep hers off too but previous actions made sure she couldn’t. She felt herself coming, her walls tightening around his dick.
“Oh God, Jon!’ She yelled when she felt her release washing over her.
Jon’s release was only a second behind hers and he grunted when he reached it. His arms that were steadying him gave way and he dropped down next to Melody, against the back of the couch.

They ordered pizza and spent the evening the same way, in front of the tv. Until something on tv made Jon remind Hawaii and asked her for her laptop so he could show her what he found. He didn’t want to tell her exactly what it was going to be like but he had narrowed it down to 3 islands, he would let her pick which one but the rest would be a surprise.
Melody got her laptop and he found the website he had memorized by now. He showed her what was special about every island and Melody made her pick after changing her mind at least 4 times.
“You’re sure now?” Jon asked her, maybe she wanted to change her mind again.
Melody nodded. “This one, I’m sure.”
“Very?”
“Yes!” a little annoyed he wouldn’t take her answer.

Later that evening there was a knock on the door, not surprising who it could be, and Melody went to open the door. Jon could hear all the noise of kids coming home into the living room. There was a lot of running around, putting away bags upstairs and downstairs until everyone finally settled in the living room and noticed Jon.
The evening passed as they all watched tv and bedtime drew closer. Everyone but J had gone to bed and as much as Melody told him he had school in the morning, he didn’t budge. She finally gave up and left for the bathroom. Remembering what happened the last time she went to the bathroom and hoped nothing like that would happen this time.

As soon as Melody left J turned around in his spot to face Jon and started apologizing, telling him he was sorry and didn’t mean any of it, he didn’t mind him at all.
“You already apologized last time.” Jon said, he was fine with the apology he got last time and didn’t want him to worry about it anymore either.
“But that wasn’t good enough, I was still angry then.”
“And now you’re not?”
J shook his head. “No.”
“Ok, then make sure that was your last apology and its fine, I understand, you’re forgiven.” He said and saw a smile on J’s face. “Although you should go to bed before your mum gets any angrier.”
“Right.” J got up and started leaving the room. “Good night.” He said before he walked down the stairs.
“Night” Jon called back and got up himself and went to Melody’s room, where she just walked out of her bathroom.

“He went to bed?” Melody asked him.
Jon nodded. “I think he was waiting for you to leave so he could apologize.”
“He did? Good.” Melody said a bit stern, but happy he had.
“He already did last time, but he’s like you, he worries too much.” Jon said as he undressed, dropping his clothes on the floor next to the bed, Melody didn’t have any chairs to put clothes on.
“I know he does.” She said with a little smile. She kicked off her jeans, her blouse and bra followed and she looked around for a t-shirt she had been sleeping in.
“What are you doing?” He asked when he saw she was holding a t-shirt.
“Pyjamas.” Melody said like he asked the stupidest question ever.
“Not if you’re sleeping with me.” Jon teased her and flashed his smile.
She gave in and put the t-shirt back and reached for the sheets but Jon held them down and pointed at her underwear. Melody took them off too and Jon lifted the covers for her to get in. He pulled her close, her back to his chest; he placed a soft kiss between her shoulders. He put his arm around her to cover her breast and started circling her nipple with his index finger. She could feel the calluses of guitar playing and drifted off to sleep to the relaxing feeling.

Chapter 49

Melody found the same place at the airport and noticed the blue door Jon had mentioned it was behind the check in desks and she would have to ask someone before she could reach it.

She stood at the end of the line, which wasn’t long; it was only for private flights. She noticed it actually went faster than the other lines. When it was her turn, she stepped up to the desk and explained her situation. It had gone smoothly and she was allowed to go through the door. Where there was another desk she had to stop at. It was a small room, just the desk and 2 other doors than the one she had just walked in through. This time there was a man at the desk and she did her story again. He gave her a hard time, asking her real name 3 times and who she was meeting, finally he decided to believe her and said she could wait in the lounge and asked if she knew the plane was going to land later.

The lounge was a nice relaxing area; there was a bar, some tables with chairs and couches centred around the tv with big windows at the end of the room that looked over at the tarmac. When she looked out of the window she noticed there was a gate right there. They would probably get off the plane there so she decided to sit in one of the couches so she could look at the planes that were coming and going until one would come close enough to let people out.
On the plane the pilot announced they were starting to descend. They all sat at one of the tables in the main cabin and discussed how the next leg would go. They finished their drinks, Jon noticed Richie was drinking beer again, while they agreed to leave the day before the show in New Orleans and arranged an hour for take-off at the airport. A little while later everyone’s ears had popped and they were being taxied to the gate.
When Melody saw the plane being taxied toward the windows she got up from the couch and stood by the windows so she could see who would be getting off.

They landed and Richie opened the cabin door which turned to the stairs to get off the plane. He walked a few steps down and looked around. Jon being him gave him a push.
“Go!” He said annoyed, he wanted to get off the plane and see Melody.
“Wanna see your girlfriend huh?” Richie bugged him but didn’t move.
Jon gave him another shove. “Yes, now get going.” He looked around over the tarmac waiting for Richie to move when he noticed Melody standing by the window and waved at her.
“You look like a 16 year old.” Richie commented when he saw Jon wave and finally went down the stairs.
“Better than a grumpy old guy like you.” Jon said, he walked by Richie, pulled his travel bag higher onto his shoulder and opened the door to the lounge.

He dropped his bag when he walked in, Melody already waiting by the door. He reached his arms around her and kissed her.
“I missed you.” Melody said when he let her go. “A lot.” She added.
“I missed you too, but now I’m home for 3 weeks and then I’m stealing you away.” He said with a smile.
“That sounds great Jon, can you move from the door now?” Richie asked him grumpy standing by the door not really able to get through.

Melody looked at Jon questioningly while they moved away so the rest could get inside. They all dropped their bags by the door too and got drinks from the bar, wanting to unwind a little bit before going home. Jon saw Richie having another beer.
“Really Richie? That’s your 5th or 6th beer.” He said, a bit annoyed to see Richie having that much to drink in just 3 hours, before noon.
“I’m thirsty.” Richie said plainly, raising his beer again.
“Richie…” Jon didn’t really know what to say, he had noticed his friend drinking again but wasn’t sure how to confront him about it.
Richie sat down in one of the couches and Jon let it be. He didn’t know what was bothering him, but he would find out, now he just wanted Melody.

Jon picked his bag up again and said goodbye to everyone, walking with Melody to her car.
“So where are we going?” Jon asked her, Melody looked at him like he asked a very stupid question. “It’s Sunday, aren’t your kids coming home?” He asked her.
“Damn it! It really is your fault.”
“What did I do?” Jon asked a bit offended, throwing up his hands.
“You can’t help it; it’s my fault after all. I just forget everything when you’re on my mind. I’ve been thinking all week to see you and I hadn’t thought of it.”
“Yeah, I do that.” He said with mock proud and laughed. “When are they getting home.”
“Not till 7, we can go to your house, then I have to leave at 5 or we can go to my house if you don’t have plans in the morning.”
“That does sound nice, but I need clean clothes.” Jon said, padding his bag before dropping it into the trunk.
“Detour it is.” Melody said and they both got in the car, this time Melody drove. When she started the car she noticed he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt again. “I don’t drive unless everyone has their seatbelt on.” She told him.
Jon reluctantly put his seatbelt on and Melody backed out of the parking space.

The airport wasn’t far from Jon’s apartment and they got there in half an hour. Jon greeted the doorman as he walked in, asking if there was any mail and took the stack he gave him.

He dropped the letters on the kitchen counter and his bag by the stairs on the way to his closet by the bedroom. Melody followed him and sat down on a chair in his study that was the room to walk through before getting to the bedroom. Jon went into the walk in closet and peeked out again holding two t-shirts, a light blue one and a black one, he had already dropped the one he was wearing with his bag.
“Which one do you like best?” He asked her.
“What about neither?” Melody asked back.
Jon instantly dropped both t-shirts and walked over to kiss her. “Works too.” He said close to her lips and pulled her up, taking her to his bedroom.

Melody plumped down on the bed, on the soft feather filled comforter. As soft as the comforter was, she moved it away to get in the bed. Jon grabbed her foot and pulled her back to the edge. He gave her another kiss, moving up to nibble on her ear and back down to kiss her neck when he started opening the buttons on her blouse, he noticed her bra had a clasp on the front and didn’t wait to open it and cup her breasts. Melody reached down to the button of his jeans and easily opened it, his erection popped free with a sigh coming from Jon. Jon did the same to her jeans and pulled them down, her panties followed.
“Don’t lose them.” Melody said when he took them off. Jon smiled down at her and threw them on the bed instead of the floor.
He pulled her to the edge of the bed and entered her, holding her hips so he could reach deeper inside. Melody felt him holding her tightly and couldn’t match his movements. She moved up, wanting to be closer to him and kissed his chin before he bowed his head to kiss her deeply, he fastened his tempo and Melody put her arms around his shoulders, burying her face in his neck, she felt her walls clench and knew she was getting closer. Jon pulled her even closer and his head fell back, letting out a growl as he came. Melody felt him shoot deep inside here and followed his orgasm with her own.

He put her back on the bed and stepped back; he pulled up his pants and got on the bed next to her. He found her panties and this time helped her putting them on instead of off. From her belly up, he kissed her till he reached her breasts. Sitting up with a reluctant sigh he closed her bra and blouse again.

Chapter 48

The rest of the week Melody felt bored, it all seemed to drag, work until she got home again, talk to Jon, make dinner and wait for Jon to phone back, half of the times she had fallen asleep behind the tv waiting for him. All she really wanted to do was be with him. He was off on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Melody wasn’t and he would be travelling to Vancouver and all of a sudden they had 3 hours time different, but Melody her day didn’t change.

By the time his show on Friday was over it was 2 am in New Jersey, he hadn’t thought of it until Melody yawned, then he remembered and he didn’t phone her on Saturday but Melody was waiting for him. After half an hour she decided to phone him.
“Melody, you should be sleeping, it’s 2.30.” He said almost stern, like he was talking to one of his kids. “Is everything all right?” He sounded worried now.”
“I was waiting for you to phone. I want to come to the airport tomorrow.”
“Are you sure?” He asked concerned.
“Yes, I can’t wait to see you.”
“Ok then. Where you were waiting last time, did you see a blue door that said private lounge behind the check in desks?” He asked and she told him she did. “I know I didn’t tell you before but they usually only let people coming and going in there to keep flights private, you can’t just go in but I’ll make sure they let you in. They’ll know when we land too and if there’s any hold ups, we land at noon.” He explained to her.
Melody wrote it all down, finally using the post-it notepad on the fridge.

They said goodbye half an hour later and Melody went back to sleep, she had gone to bed earlier but set her alarm so she would be able to talk to him. She woke up only 5 hours later and started her day by making her own breakfast and sat all by herself. To pick up Jon she wouldn’t have to leave until 10.30 so she had another 2 hours before she would have to leave.

She hadn’t seen him since Tuesday, she knew it was stupid, they’ve only known each other for 2 months but she missed him, he was her boyfriend after all. She realized he decided to make her his boyfriend only a month after they knew each other. Yes made, he made her so on Facebook; he hadn’t asked her about it. After only a month, just a month, shouldn’t it take longer than that to decide that? What was it, 5 dates? She started doubting and she didn’t even know why. Was he really serious about it? He was famous, loved by millions, why would she be the lucky one to end up with him? Just her, nothing special about her, she hadn’t done anything in life, she had gone through college, with a lot of trouble, which even hadn’t gone smoothly. She had met her ex husband and quit working when they started having kids. Those years she was actually happiest, to be with her kids, when they were little and were always happy. She had loved it, being a mom, but then she had to find a job; thank God she had Lori for that. Lori. Of course, she picked up her phone to call her and asked if she could come over. Melody couldn’t get the idea out of her head and was wondering she should still go to the city to pick him up, was it really real or was it just a fling for him. She wasn’t sure anymore about it, she started panicking. He had said he loved her, she reminded herself it were just words that anyone could say.

Only a few minutes later Lori knocked on her backdoor and walked inside through the kitchen, she looked around for Melody and found her in the living room on the couch, in pyjamas or what she called pyjamas and a blanket. Melody looked sad sitting like that. Lori sat down next to her, wondering what was wrong and a bit scared to even ask. She let it be for a minute and gathered her courage as it seemed Melody wasn’t going to say anything.
“What’s wrong?” She asked hesitantly.
Melody thought for a second, what was really wrong? “I’m not sure anymore.” She didn’t know what to say other than that.
“About what?” Lori questioned her.
“About Jon, I’m not sure about it anymore.”
“Melody, you’re going to have to say more than that, what went wrong? Did something happen?”
“Nothing went wrong, nothing happened.” Melody said plainly, annoyed with herself.
“Then what is it?” Lori started getting annoyed too, she wanted to help her friend but she couldn’t if she didn’t say what was wrong.
“I don’t know!”

Lori gave up and sat back in the couch. She waited to see if Melody was going to say something, she didn’t want to question her; she would have to say it herself and she waited.

Melody was thinking, was it really like that? She started playing the events in her head, when she had first met him in the record store, she’d been so shocked to see him, and he was so nice to her in the store. The concerts she had been to, how stressed she was when she was on her period and couldn’t have sex with him. She had been so worried about it; she was sure he wanted to then and she couldn’t give it to him, he hadn’t minded it and acted like there was nothing wrong. They still shared the bed that night; it had been the first time she was that close to him, his skin, and his smell. Remembering how his birthday had gone, the first time he said he loved her, and her heart had raced when he did. How happy she had been then, her love had been platonic but when he was actually there, being with her, she fell in love again just like that, just like the first time it only took seconds. She realized what if it had been the same for him too. She didn’t think she was anything special, but in somebody else’s eyes, maybe she was.
“I’m so stupid.” She realized.
“What do you mean?” Lori asked, glad Melody finally said something.
“I was questioning Jon’s love.” She felt so stupid saying it now, how could she even do that?
“Melody, longer explanations would help a lot.” Lori said annoyed again, typical for Melody to not say a thing when she actually wanted some help.
“I don’t know, when I woke up this morning I just started thinking about it and how fast it had gone and how, for him, it maybe was just a fling.” She explained.
“A fling? He’s been on 4 dates in 2 years; I don’t think he really does flings.” Lori added, there hadn’t been much paparazzi pictures of Jon on dates in the last 2 years, to events he went alone.
“How could I have been so stupid?” Melody slapped her hand to her forehead, how could she, she shook her head while her phone buzzed in the kitchen, she had turned down the volume, she didn’t want to hear anyone. She got up from the couch and threw her blanket where she had been sitting to get her phone. Took off 30min late, don’t worry your pretty head when we’re late love, love you.

She answered him and went back to the living room.
“I was really stupid to even think that. He’s too sweet.” Melody said shaking her head but there was a smile on her face now. Her worried feelings went away and the missing piece she’d been feeling was back. “I’m just so lonely when he’s not here. I want him around me all the time, it just makes everything better. The weekend we spend, it seemed so normal, to be there all day, him waking up right next to me, being there all day, I didn’t have to miss him.” Melody explained and realized how much she missed him and just wanted him to be there with her, when he was, everything felt better, she was happier when he was there. Her excitement to see him returned in an instant.
“Oh Mel, wow, I can’t remember you ever being like that with a guy. All the time, really? I would love some time away from Shawn once in a while.” Lori laughed the last part.
“I just miss him.” Melody shrugged. “I love him, I want him right here with me.” She said putting her hand on the couch next to her where Jon had sat on Tuesday.
“Weren’t you going a vacation with him?” Lori asked, she wasn’t sure anymore if she had understood Melody right when she told her.
“Yes, we’re going to Hawaii in 3 weeks!” Melody said all excited again, remembering she would have him all to herself then, not sharing him with other fans.

Chapter 47

As usual Jon phoned Melody before they went to bed, today he phoned early, usually he phoned at 9 when he had a day off but it was only 8, so he had just come home. She apologized for J’s behaviour again, still not understanding what got into him. She didn’t take the excuse of his girlfriend breaking up, he still didn’t have to go accusing people of things like that. Melody told Jon how sweet he used to be, much more like Tyler and Ryan. He was even as shy as Faith was when he was little. But then she and Rob got divorced and J went to high school. She had always blamed school, since it was so different from middle school until Jon told her it probably wasn’t high school that changed a thing. Melody thought for a second and realized he was right. She couldn't believe she didn't see it earlier herself. She sighed and told Jon she had to go. They said goodbye and Melody went back downstairs.

Almost 3 hours later Melody finally went back upstairs, she had no idea it would take that long and Tyler had already fallen asleep on the couch, not being able to go to his room for the second time that night. She felt relieved she talked to him and hoped he finally understood. Jon had told her about Jake still being confused after 2 years, but he was much younger and for Melody’s kids it had been 5 years and J had been older. Melody was happy she got to talk to him and hoped it was all worked out, no wonder he had been so annoying the last few years he had been bottling up everything about the divorce.

She phoned Jon in her room while she got into bed.
“Where are you when I need a hug?” She asked before he could say anything.
“Awe I’m sorry babe, I wish I could give you a hug.” He tried to comfort her, knowing her talk wouldn’t have been easy. “I’ll give you something even better when I get home.” He promised.
“When do you come home?” She asked.
“27th, in the afternoon. Want to pick me up?”
“12 days.” Melody said. “And no I don’t, not like last time.” She wouldn’t go through that again, and then she preferred not knowing when he would land and just wait for a phone call.
“I’m still sorry for that and now I’m sorry I reminded you of that too, you had a rough enough night, you should get some sleep.” He said still in a comforting voice.
Melody agreed and they said goodbye to each other. She hung up the phone and put it next to her new photo on the night stand.

The next morning Jon was on a plane to Texas, catching up on reading the news from 4 different newspapers, as usual he sat by the window. He hadn’t had time to watch or read any news for a few days and needed to catch up now. He was all alone now anyway, the rest of the band had already taken off the night before so Jon was alone on the plane. The night before he had gotten all the decorations out of his car and gave them a place around the apartment. He went to put the picture of him and Melody in his room but put it in his bag instead so he could take it along with him. He had gotten his black travelling bag from the closet and took out a few t-shirts to wrap the frame in making sure it wouldn’t break. He only took casual clothes with him, his stage clothes were taken care for.

The rest of the week went by normal without any outbursts. Melody noticed J was home after school and wasn’t hanging around with his friends anymore. She hadn’t liked his friends and thought it would be better too.

She talked to Jon every night before he went on stage. They talked about their days and discussed more plans for Hawaii. Jon was there last year to kick off the first leg of the tour. He was happy with Melody’s choice and had arranged for her passport. He gave her the name of someone to help her rush the government for it and he would contact her tomorrow. Melody wondered how much it would cost, Jon said he’d paid for it but Melody didn’t want him to pay that much money for her. Jon couldn’t convince her and gave up.

Melody got the phone call Jon told her about the next day and arranged everything to get a passport. She would still have apply by herself but the rest would be taken care of. On Friday after work she rushed to the tax office to be there before they closed, it was busy in the city as usual and she was lucky to be there with 15 minutes to spare. She got all her forms together asking the person at the desk how soon she would have it and was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks. On her way back to the car Melody did the math and counted out, 6 weeks would be the end of May and after that it would be too late.

On her way home, while driving she phoned Jon telling him, almost panicking that her passport would probably not be ready in time and she couldn’t go with him then.
“Calm down, that’s why I gave you that person to help you. He’ll bug the government to be faster, he knows you have to leave the country, I can’t miss you for a whole month.” He explained to her, trying to calm her down.
“What about July then?” Melody asked when she had calmed down.
“I wasn’t sure if you wanted to go that long, with the kids and your job.”
“Damn it!” Melody cursed. “I forgot to take June off, remind me on Monday to talk to my boss.” Vacations longer than a week had to be discussed first.
Saturday morning Melody got an early phone call from Jon. She wondered why he was up that early and he explained there was a fan club trip so he had to go posing for pictures soon but then he changed the subject because he wasn’t phoning because of that. He told her there was an earthquake and tsunami in Japan. He was worried about the people he knew there but couldn’t reach anyone so he phoned her needing to talk to someone about it. Melody had no idea what had happened and Jon told her how bad it was. Melody couldn’t believe it and hoped everyone he knew was fine and told him that the power was probably just out and he should try again in a while. He got another call, he checked and told Melody it was the person he was trying to reach. He felt so relieved and told Melody he’d phone her back later.

The rest of the weekend went by, Jon phoned Melody back half an hour later telling her how relieved he was they were all fine and they should start a fund to help the people there that had lost their houses as it was really bad. Melody told him to wait and see, maybe other people were already doing something like that and he could contribute and focus on the things he was doing now. It reminded him of the beach house. He had found a website online that rented out private beach houses on all the islands. It had enough bedrooms but the kids would all have to share a room. They decided to let the kids meet too, the first weekend of April when Melody her children were home and Jon was on a break from touring. That way the children could get to know each other before spending a whole week together already.

The second week of Jon’s last tour leg, Melody was home alone. The kids had left for their dads and her house was now empty. She didn’t like it when her house was so quiet that’s why she worked longer days when they were gone. On Monday at work she had received a text from Jon telling her to go ask her boss to have the month off. Melody knew she would like July off too and decided to say she needed 2 months off and if her boss said no, she would shorten it to one month.

During lunch she went into her boss’ office, nervous, thinking he would never let her take such a long break to go on a vacation.

After work, she phoned Jon in the car like she always did. He didn’t like it when she did, telling her she needed to pay attention to the road but Melody stuck to the idea a hands free system was safe.
“Jon, I got great news!” Melody said excited when he picked up and she didn’t leave him any time to say anything when he did.
“Then tell me!”
“I explained to my boss I was going on tour with someone, I didn’t want to mention you yet, so I would be gone for 2 months.” She didn’t pause to let Jon ask about the two months. “So he said I could work from there. He wants me to go with you to all the hotels and see how they run their hotel and see if we could improve our hotel.” Melody said excited.
“That’s great, so you’ll be there for two months?”
“Yes!”
“You have a great boss. It’ll be great to have you by my side.”
“Oh and after that, I get two weeks off at the beginning of August.” Melody added, still excited about the whole thing.
“Even better!”

Chapter 46

Melody rushed to the other side of the kitchen to hug Jon, to comfort him.
"I'm so sorry, I have no idea why he said that." Melody started, not really knowing what to say next. She hadn't expected any behaviour like that from him. He knew Jon was coming over today and she wondered what had pissed him off like that.
"Does he have a girlfriend?" Jon asked her.
Melody looked up at him, wondering what he was thinking. "Yeah."
"Then I think she cheated on him or at least broke up with him." He explained.
"Really?" She wondered, Jon nodded, almost sure it was that. "I should go talk to him then." Melody said and let go of Jon but he pulled her back.
"No, leave him, he's just angry, he doesn't want to talk." He said. "Trust me, I'm a guy too." He added when she looked at him with disbelieve.
Melody decided to trust him.
"Jon Richie huh?" He asked her. "So you do know me?"
"Yeah, I know, I'm a crazy fan, I just tried to hide it at least a bit so you wouldn't think I'm weird." She sounded a bit upset.
"Oh Melody," He tried to sooth her. "I don't think you're weird at all. I actually liked you pretending not to know me, that's a lot better than people that think they know me."

They went back to the living room to finished their movie. They both weren't very interested anymore and started talking over it as soon as Melody pressed play.
"When's Tyler's birthday?" Jon remembered his idea and told her about it, waiting to see how she would like the idea.
"Really? You'd do that? He would love that!" Melody said excited for her son.
"Yeah of course, I'd take Steph and Jesse, so why not?"
"That's really nice of you." Melody said, knowing Tyler would love it, like Ryan said, he loved all sports so it would be great. She wasn't sure if she should mention J was a bigger football fan than Tyler.
"Does Tyler play football?" Jon wondered, Tyler had left for hockey practice, it wasn't football season at school anymore but he still wondered.
"Yeah, fall he plays football, winter hockey and spring baseball."
"Oh he does it all."
"Yeah and he's a prospect for the Devils. He's on the Albany Devils waiting for the NHL."
"Wow, he's busy." Jon said amazed. "And talented."
Melody nodded, and turned her attention back to the movie.
"Are you staying for dinner? We're having spaghetti."
"Yeah I'll be staying." He said, not wanting to decline spaghetti.

About an hour later Melody turned off the tv. They had watched the rest of it while still talking about the kids. Melody was talking about their interests and Jon could pick up on a few saying his kids liked the same things. Both thought the kids would have to meet before they went on holidays and Melody told him her idea about Hawaii. She knew he liked St. Barth's but Hawaii was warm too and she would be able to go. Jon liked her idea and would really have to contact somebody the next day to get her a passport. Melody would have to ask Rob if the kids could stay with him in June then. Jon explained her how long he would be touring and when he would be leaving so she could arrange her plans too. Melody was excited to go with him, not only the touring would be great, but being with him every day sounded like heaven too. She loved being around him and hoped she would get to see him more in April when he wasn't touring.

Now that she had found the love of her life, the one she always thought was perfect just for her and had always believed it would never happen, now she had found him, she wouldn't let him go. She loved that he had a passion for music, she had always loved music but he had been her passion. His passion for sports she didn't share with him, but they couldn't have everything in common either.

Melody got up to start the spaghetti and asked Jon if she should go talk to her son now.
Jon shook his head and told her not to but offered he could.
Melody found it a bit weird he wanted to go talk to him but again Jon pointed out he was a guy. Melody told him she was very sure he was and let him go. She told him where the downstairs bedroom was and watched him leave the kitchen. She followed him and stood next to the stair case so he couldn't see her, she listened to what he did.

There was a knock at the door and the door creaked as he opened it. "Jon?" He asked, not sure what to say.
She heard a muffled voice, probably J explaining he wanted to be called J and not after her mum's obsession.
"Ok, J, can we talk?" The door shut.
Melody grunted and went back to the kitchen; she wanted to know what Jon would say to him but hoped them talking would help.

Later they all sat at the dinner table together, just like when they went out with Jon's kids, Melody and Jon sat at the head of the table. They talked more about school, telling Jon about their schools and sports when J said he couldn't wait for college, to play college football. Jon told him to persist and that his son was hoping the same thing.
"Did you play football in high school?" He asked Jon. After their talk Jon had come back upstairs, he told Melody J had apologized and he was right about his girlfriend cheating on him. Melody felt bad for her son but it was one of the mean things in life he’d had to go through.
“Yeah, until senior year, I busted my knee.” Jon told him, remembering the game he had done it. It was a big game, important for the school, and halfway through he hurt his leg. He had felt so stupid to hurt himself at such an important game.
“What did you do?” Tyler wanted to know.
“Pulled my ligaments, it was the end of the semester so that was my last game.” Jon had loved playing on the high school team, when he actually could and wasn’t performing.
Tyler and J both made a painful face, having heard how much it hurt to pull them, or worse, tear them.

Jon left after dinner; he was leaving for Texas the next day. He kissed Melody goodbye at the front door and walked to his car.

Just a minute later there was a knock at the door and Melody got up to answer the door.
“You forgot your picture.” He said while holding out the frame to her.
Melody took it from him, looking at the picture. “Thanks, I would have missed it.”
Jon said goodbye again and this time Melody watched him drive away before going back inside.

She put the picture frame on her night stand, on her side of the bed. That way he’d be there every morning and every evening, just like he would be soon enough when they go to Hawaii.

Melody went downstairs, telling Tyler to leave the room so she could talk to J alone. She remembered when he was little, so sweet, she could still call him Jon, until a few year later, he found out who he was named after, then switching to JR and Melody accidentally told him what Richie stood for, he had given up and just accepted J. He hated his name and had told Melody millions of times. Her oldest used to be so sweet but high school changed it all, but what he did tonight was not acceptable, at all. Upstairs, the rest could hear Melody yelling at him that he was lucky Jon was such a nice person to already forgive him. J didn’t say a thing, he knew he was wrong and didn’t protest when Melody grounded him until the next school break.
